Greater Rhea: Just posted 3 new Reed College federal work study (FWS) volunteer/intern jobs in Symplicity, Very first jobs that World University and School creates - ... - (To post tomorrow - Building on the beautiful maps-with-Wikipedia entries ... )

Dear Bon (and Merry),

Greetings. I just posted 3 new Reed College federal work study (FWS) volunteer/intern jobs in Symplicity yesterday (to be finalized in August) for the new host startup World University and School, of which I'm the founder, president and current developer, for 2015-2016, and Merry can't see them. Simplicity says these job postings are currently drafts and are scheduled to be posted visibly between 8/31 and 9/30/15. They are

Managing Academic Tutor (ID 28068) -

Academic Tutor - Sciences, STEM & Computer Science (ID 28075) -

Academic Tutor - Humanities, Languages, Social Sciences (ID 28077)
These new jobs are listed at this login - (... @worlduniversityandschool.org ... ).

Could you possibly help Merry see these, as well as other possible Reedie interns see these who might be interested in planning now for 2015-2016 FWS opportunities - and with these great and creative WUaS academic internship possibilities?

Also who has access to seeing these Symplicity listings once they're public? Could any Reed alumnus/ae with a Reed Iris account see them, for example? How would, for example, Sandesh A. who just graduated from Reed in June in Physics see these listings, now or in August? Merry, he and I all met together during Reunions a few weeks ago (and Sandesh also attended my Paideia workshop in January). Or could Gantt who was at Reed with me in the early 1980s, for example? Also, is it possible to display these job postings from Symplicity to non-Reedies as VOLUNTEER opportunities before mid-August as well? (If these work out the next 2 FWS job postings will be academic tutor positions "on the teaching side" for "Countries" and "Music" I think).

Merry will be away from Reed until around August 3rd, but I'd love to get this sorted out this week if possible, please.

These will be the very first jobs that World University and School creates, if this works out, and WUaS would like to become a significant academic job generator and online in many languages!

Thank you (and nice to meet you here).
All the best,
Scott '85

For Students

Best CC OpenCourseWare STEM-centric course credits at CC World University and free accrediting university degrees that are most useful in the information age. These WUaS credits will be valued in the marketplace, or in the overall degree effort by a student, - through the relevant skills the student learns per course or per degree.

For Parents

Harvard or MIT’s tuition for a year is approximately US $44,000 and prospective student at accrediting C.C. World University will pay nothing.

Testimonial

World University provides an ambitious and much-needed bridge to affordable higher education!

With online coursework through WUaS in many of the world's languages, students who wouldn't be able to afford accredited, degree-oriented courses can now aspire to this game-changing qualification.  In India, Jan.-Feb. 2015, in two different locations and schools, I saw for myself the need and hunger ambitious secondary students there have for accessibility to high-quality education with entry-level degree possibilities waiting for them on completion.  For a modest and affordable cost they are enabled to get western accreditation for their work and outlay, which promises much greater opportunities than previously for their advancement, particularly in caste-stratified Indian society!  The value of this educational and economic bridge for low-income students in third-world countries is immense! World University and School is offering a missing link toward development to all the world's struggling peoples!

Toco toucan: Oregon Presbytery of the Cascades meeting, BIRDS school+ in India, and WUaS, In terms of inspiring education - which may help keep students involved in learning for many years as well as relevant to knowledge-oriented job generation, India and 5 planned degrees here in Admissions at WUaS, WUaS Organic Agriculture wiki subject/school

Dear Paul Raja Rao,

Thank you for your email, and from BIRDS - www.birdsorg.net - and mother India!

I hope WUaS can help make high school, university and even open people-to-people teaching WIKI (editable web pages) learning very enjoyable, as well as relevant to knowledge-oriented job generation - in terms of drop out rates, and especially in India.

In terms of inspiring education - which may help keep students involved in learning for many years (as well as relevance) - please see this brilliant and virtuosic Harvard Professor Karen Brennan's commencement talk from May here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2015/06/migratory-woodland-caribou-inspired-by.html - in my blog post from yesterday (which will also give you other insights into how WUaS works). Karen has also been involved in the teaching programming with the drag and drop MIT Scratch computer language. World University hopes also to be in large languages in India, and accredit even an online India Law School at WUaS - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/India_Law_School_at_WUaS .

World University is seeking our first undergraduate college students to apply this autumn, and matriculate online in autumn 2016, graduating in 2020 potentially -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/The_College_at_World_University_and_School - with free (since CC) and MIT-centric degrees. Please invite high school students you know of to add their names to the sign up list here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - and check out MIT Prof Anant Agarwal's video on this page too. He's originally from India and has degrees from MIT, and is now a professor there, and president of edX.

What languages again do you speak besides English, Paul? Hindi, Kanada?, Telegu? And ?

Very nice to meet you at the Presbytery meeting in Portland, Oregon.

Namaste,
Scott

Dear Steve,

It was wonderful to meet you just a week ago almost to the hour at the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church near Portland, Oregon, on Friday, June 19 - and especially with Carl Thatcher (thank you, Carl). It was great to hear about your trip to India and about BIRDS as well. Thank you for the success of Paul Raja Rao's BIRDS projects, and especially in educating over 600 students, for example.

I'd like to share a little about World University and School -
http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - with you, and its planned online Creative Commons' licensed degrees - see the 5 planned degrees here in Admissions -
http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - for planning purposes, for example.

At the same time WUaS seeks to offer wiki (editable web pages) schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,929 languages. Sal Khan, who went to MIT for 2 degrees, taught online to his 11 old niece about unit conversion in this way, for example, and then went on to build Khan Academy itself online, but without degrees. Perhaps some of BIRDS students will come both to teach in this way at Wiki WUaS also also to study for free degrees at CC World University - and to/in all of India and beyond.

And as an example of some open wiki subjects, which will grow, World University also has a beginning India World University and School (not yet in any other languages in India besides English) - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/India - as well as an Organic Agriculture wiki subject/school - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Organic_Agriculture - which will grow in open teaching, courses, and in different languages. (WUaS is also changing wiki sites eventually).

WUaS is very much a Quaker/Friendly leading to provide free highest quality education online, and with best STEM-centric degrees, to people who need it and can benefit from it, and as a service.

In what ways can World University and your church in Grants Pass, as well as the Presbytery of the Cascades itself, possibly best explore further a pilot degree program in the BIRDS school and computer lab in India, or other ways of BIRDS subscribing to WUaS? Do you know of other Presbyterian education and service endeavors?

Could Carl (or I) possibly please talk further about this with you in person?

It was wonderful to meet you and looking forward to exploring this online free and MIT OCW-centric education for free degrees further in many ways.

Yours with Gratitude,
Scott

Migratory woodland caribou: inspired by your Harvard talk, "Brilliant, Inspiring, Virtuosic - Faculty Speaker Karen Brennan ..., "Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching," "Ph.D._Degrees_at_World_University_and_School," "Media_Lab_at_World_University_and_School," "Creativity," Are you teaching any edX or other online free courses this autumn that I might participate in, by any chance?, This autumn, I'm teaching the free "Information Technology, the Network Society and the Global University" on Harvard's virtual island in SL, in Google Hangouts and newly in Google Classroom, if you know of people who might be interested, In what ways might we best communicate further about some of our shared creativity-in-education interests?

Dear Karen,

I was very inspired by your Harvard talk "Faculty Speaker Karen Brennan: HGSE Convocation 2015" here -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPGAplELF3Q - and shared it in a variety of social media with ...

"Brilliant, Inspiring, Virtuosic - Faculty Speaker Karen Brennan: HGSE Convocation 2015 https://youtu.be/dPGAplELF3Q @Harvard Added to "Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching" http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching as well as "Ph.D.s," Media Lab at WUaS" and "Creativity" and may explore adding to "Teaching" ... All these wiki Subjects are planned in many, many languages!" ....

Thank you, Karen.

I also added your video talk to a startup Creative Commons' licensed (CC) online accrediting University I'm developing in the following wiki Subject pages (for open people-to-people teaching and learning):

Inspiration_in_learning_and_teaching -

Ph.D._Degrees_at_World_University_and_School -

Media_Lab_at_World_University_and_School -

Creativity -

all of which will be in large languages, and with courses in them, - and, importantly, planning to accredit in many countries' main languages.

World University and School, which is like CC Wikipedia (now in 288 languages) with best STEM-centric OpenCourseWare (e.g. CC MIT OCW now in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC), and is planning online accrediting university and high school degrees in most countries' main languages, and wiki schools in all 7,929+ languages.

Are you teaching any edX or other online free courses this autumn that I might participate in, by any chance?

This autumn, I'm teaching the free "Information Technology, the Network Society and the Global University" on Harvard's virtual island in SL, in Google Hangouts and newly in Google Classroom, if you know of people who might be interested -

"Information Technology, the Network Society, and the Global University" at WUaS Introduction

Here are some recent small/big successes for WUaS - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2015/05/4-big-developments-for-wuas-in-past.html?view=sidebar - and our blog, - and here, too, is my personal blog with much about WUaS - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/ - in the "global university" label.

World University is seeking our first high school applicants this autumn to matriculate online in autumn 2016 for free (since CC) and MIT OCW-centric degrees, first in English, and graduating potentially in 2020, accrediting first with WASC senior and BPPE here in California.

In what ways might we best communicate further about some of our shared creativity-in-education interests?

Thank you again for the inspiration.

All the best,
Scott
