Purple Sunflower: World University Music School, YouTube, All Music

World University and School as music school would allow for interactivity in virtual worlds like Second Life, to complement on-the-ground learning and music-making. It would also contribute to generating music-making and learning, too. People could post what they wanted to teach on YouTube.com.

The San Francisco Symphony just announced something similar in the New York Times - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/02/arts/music/02orch.html?8dpc. In "Getting to Carnegie via Youtube," (December 1, 2008), musicians will have the opportunity - in this new approach to classical music performance - to post pieces they play to YouTube, and have musicians from the Berlin and London Philharmonics, for example, listen to them. This is a great way to share music.

And this could easily develop into an online classical music education program.

Let's do it, with Western classical music, Indian classical music, with world music, and with other music, as well, - openly and enjoyably.
