In light of the major ecological disaster in the Gulf of Mexico with thousands of gallons of gas spewing out daily there for more than a month now, here's a solar car which goes 20-30 mph by an inventor in Maine: scottmacleod.com/EnergyAutonomy.htm.
Let's get away from fossil fuel use in the USA, India, China, Indonesia and all over the world. Let's develop such solar technologies.

20 Feet sea level rise was a mid-range scenario from Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth." And even a 2-10 inches ocean rise (which I have heard as a scientifically realistic estimate for years - scientists are just modeling possibilities here) over 20-100 years, with 2-10 degrees Fahrenheit potential increase is a lot, and will cost everyone a lot!
Climate is one of the most complex scientific questions there is, and the world runs on oil ... challenges ahead ... electric cars will help, but the world still has to generate energy while significantly reducing CO2 output, which isn't easy.
Let's think of the global warming and ocean's rising, worldwide, in terms of house insurance. Buy it.
A friend in California asks:
If you are in the know, and it seems that you are, where would you live? If you could live anywhere in the u.s. that felt the safest where would that be? We can run but we can't hide from mother nature's reply to our lifestyle.
Scott:
California sunbelt away from the coast. And you?
