The conference method (vis-a-vis Reed College's) at WUaS is about talking with each other in a course, in all academic, subject areas, and now via the internet and digital information technologies.
Hi G and All in 'Information Technology and the Network Society' course (ongoing this autumn 2013) at World University and School,
I hope you'll share your questions with the people in this course by clicking 'reply to all.'
The course is a conversation, and people bring their own perspectives, knowledge and thinking, to the first hour (on Harvard's virtual island in SL) and in the second hour (in a Google + Hangout), from which conversation new ideas and understandings emerge (http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning). The first hour takes as a starting place the book "Networked: The New Social Operating System" (MIT 2012) and in the second hour, we explore how the information revolution is developing, in terms of questions about society and economy in the Network Society.
What questions do you have for the people in the course?
And all, please continue to read Chapter 3 for this Thursday, with an invitation to bring specific questions about this text and these talks.
Best,
Scott
