Lightning Talks

The monthly Lightning Talks are an opportunity for teams @ WMF and in the Community to showcase a milestone, recent and exciting developments, or releases to the rest of the foundation and the movement as a whole, as these talks will be open to our communities. These talks are open to all WMF staff members to attend or present.
Teams can sign up for a ten-minute slot for their presentation and should present something more substantial than a sprint iteration. Each presentation should be 10 minutes or less. The formal part should be no longer than 5 minutes, the remainder is for questions.
Too many questions to answer in the allotted time? No worries, your lightning talk will be a great candidate for a future Tech Talk.

How to attend[edit | edit source]

The Lightning Talks are hosted at the Wikimedia Foundation typically every 4th Tuesday of the month at 11:00 Pacific Time in the 5th Floor Collab Space. The schedule may change, see below for a list of confirmed Lightning Talks.
The Lightning Talks will be presented via Google Hangout for remotees to watch live or stream later. A link to watch the meeting live will be provided in advance of the talks and a YouTube recording will be provided following each event. You can also join the conversation and participate in Q&A after each Lightning Talk by connecting to the IRC channel: #wikimedia-techconnect

Upcoming Lightning Talks[edit | edit source]

Please make sure to post the link to your slides at least a couple hours prior to the talks. Also, a reminder to upload your slides to Commons (in the category "Lightning Talks") after they are complete.
