Hi Christina (and Tym),
It was great to meet and celebrate with you and Tym on New Year's Eve as well. Am most interested in artificial intelligence with machine learning and especially machine translation (for all 7,099 living languages), and re questions eventually of poetry translation (in some years), STEM translation as well as consciousness (i.e. as awareness re integrated information theory - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/consciousness). Google Neural Machine Translation which is related to Google Translate (with Wikipedia's Content Translation) are my starting places for these translation questions.

Questions of a cryptocurrency with block chain and planning for this via an Universal Basic Income for all 7.5 billion people would possibly dovetail with the 2 federal projects you mentioned and their related developing research databases. (World Univ & Sch is planning law schools in all ~200 countries' official languages, emerging from here - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States).
Best regards,
Scott

Hi Christina and Tym,
Re Artificial Intelligence further, World University and School is also, conceptually, Google TensorFlow-centric ...
... as well as Tega-centric ... https://www.fastcodesign.com/video/this-furry-interactive-robot-is-helping-kids-learn/cNkNi5O1
(http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6aben6) ... where Tega's AI is trying to gauge (probe and monitor) learner's engagement, and interact around questions of enjoyment ... which is quite creative Artificial intelligence / machine learning to write, and involves a lot of leaps of intuition, in addition to leaps in coding. It will be fascinating if avatar bots in 3D virtual worlds (e.g. like Minecraft and OpenSim) each become capable of becoming developing Tega bots for learning as teachers (and developmentally) ... and in all 7,099 living languages.
Best, Scott

MIT Digital Currency Initiative and the US Federal Reserve and the Department of Treasury?
Re a cryptocurrency with block chain and planning for this via an Universal Basic Income for all 7.5 billion people, it seems like the MIT DCI - http://dci.mit.edu/ - talking with the US Treasury re a hypothetical BitCoin/FedCoin could make sense ...

The Media Lab Digital Currency Initiative
The goal of the Media Lab Digital Currency initiative is to bring together global experts in areas ranging from cryptography, to economics, to privacy, to distributed systems, to take on this important new area of research. The effort will reach across the MIT campus, and we look forward to including collaborations with leading experts around the world. The initiative will work with Lab researchers and faculty across the MIT campus to explore the many issues involved in blockchain and bitcoin technology.
