Dear Professor Amanat,
Thank you for your far-reaching and edifying talk at Stanford yesterday - "In Search of Modern Iran" - http://events.stanford.edu/events/740/74077/ (https://history.yale.edu/people/abbas-amanat). (I was sitting in the 3rd row from the front, off to your right in the center section).

Here's the Farsi - Persian_language - wiki subject page / school at WUaS -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Persian_language - soon to be in Farsi, and newly in Iran World University and School here in our new wiki - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Iran_(Islamic_Republic_of) - all in Farsi.
Persian MIT OpenCourseWare does still exist - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/persian/ - but is no longer listed here - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - and I'm not sure why. And since CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare in Persian is now in the Internet Archive, World University and School has a new opportunity eventually to offer free online CC OCW degrees in Persian in Iran (Bachelor, Ph.D., Law and M.D. and I.B. high school).
WUaS seeks to create major online universities in all ~200 nation states' official languages for free MIT OCW-centric wiki universities (and WIKI schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,099 living languages).
My family lived in New Haven from about 1966-1971 (where my father, Gordon K MacLeod MD, was a professor at Yale - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_K._MacLeod). We lived in Hamden, actually, at the end of Prospect Street, at 125 Mill Rock Road (here, actually: https://www.google.com/maps/place/125+Mill+Rock+Rd,+Hamden,+CT+06517/@41.3381889,-72.9183148,3a,75y,14.97h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sn7jIxViYe28o5NYtwY3YDg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x89e7d9f393f4a357:0x9321f6c60f7f2d3!8m2!3d41.3383547!4d-72.918257). Our neighbors included Yale professor Sydney Ahlstrom, on Armory Street, who wrote the well-known "A Religious History of the American People" and whose kids were my childhood friends, including his youngest, Sydney, who is my star twin (born on the same day of the same year).
Thank you for your informative and interesting overview of Iran's history into modernity.
Looking forward to staying in touch.

While Stanford is beautiful, and its talks fascinating, I'd rather be doing further ethnographic field work at Harbin Hot Springs (https://twitter.com/HarbinBook), however, - and as a MIT Media Lab professor. Still haven't heard back yet about my Media Lab faculty application - which means I haven't heard no also. I hope to be in Cambridge this autumn, and return to the Bay Area in January for further field work.

Open a wiki conversation as SUBJECT about what you love here https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects (from http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Subjects). Academic or Creative & Open-ended. Excited too for when matriculated students in all ~200 countries' languages can head to the field & elicit new wiki subjects!

I think "hippie trail in Iran in the 1960s/1970s" would be an interesting new wiki subject (of potentially millions and in all 7,099 living languages), for example, when matriculated World University and School students start traveling for field work - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/hippie%20trail. How best to develop the Subject Template for ease of use in the field?
