What MIT Media Lab Director Joi Ito is referring to is his Safecast Geiger counter- and per the 2011 Fukushima earthquake:

I don't think Geiger counters for citizens were around in 1979 when we were all dealing with Three Mile Island nuclear accident.

What is the state of nuclear accident preparedness in PA today? (Does anyone know if potassium iodide is stockpiled, by any chance, for example?)

Still would like to make it to the Washington, PA, Scottish Country Dance ball, - but am sending my regrets for this year :)
