White stork: There's a frog now in my 'garden in a box,' TV, Casting or Chromecasting, Curious about friendship or pairbonds developing while esurfing or watching together on the same screen, friends' def.: "a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations," I actually teach (http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html) about some related questions of socialty and the internet, Can now use Google group video 10-person Hangouts on the big screen, thus making this new TV interactive for conversation and music-making ... Haven't done interactive group video Hangouts on this new large screen TV yet either, for ex., playing Scottish small pipes with another person in real time elsewhere, and thus re-writing the idea of TV, Both my Android smartphone and MacBook Air laptop with cameras 'cast' from the internet Web pages via a little box called Google Chromecast to the large screen TV ... a significant web-centric addition to TV, Looking forward to co-building too and visiting a realistic virtual Harbin in Google Street View with time slider with AVATAR BOTS on the Web and "casting" it onto this large screen interactively as well ... and as a digital history project too ... since there's still a little lag in the internet's 'real time" which is pretty extraordinary as it is

There's a frog now in my 'garden in a box' ... and sometimes in the watering tube itself which allows me to fill the 2 inches' gap reservoir below the soil ... How do they sense water, and where did it come from? It's pretty dry around where I live ... wouldn't have thought there were frogs. And my 'garden in a box' survived pretty well while I was away, thanks to Dom's watering it.

Am waiting on 3 things re WUaS / career / revenue/income next steps:

1) to hear back from BPPE - Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education - the State of California, from a "M O'C" there, hopefully to add an addendum to existing state regulations which defines private education in CA as involving paying tuition ... whereas CC-4 MIT OCW's licensing allows A) sharing B) adaptation but C) non-commercially. So if California wants free-to-students' MIT OCW-centric degrees, it seems they'll have to work with the words, "pay," "tuition," "fees," "costs," "non-commercially" etc. in new ways.

2) to hear back from the National Foundation Grant positively re our WUaS proposal

3) to hear back from Stanford re a position

Wrote this while on Cuttyhunk, just before you came ...

"Hedge is trimmed ... nice new electrical cord ... Anderson's privet hedge has a kind of box cut ... whereas our porch hedge of wild roses+ is a bit wavy

Bird windows cleaned

curious to see how taxes work on Cuttyhunk

Sailing ...

Hope you've settled into the beauty and friendliness of being on Cuttyhunk!

Making a bit of headway with my next book, my third book, and second book of poetry ... https://amazon.com/author/scottmacleodworlduniversity ...

Thanks, M - it is opening worlds (but not necessarily socially or female friend-wise yet). Will see if I can get the Newshour - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/ - at some point too - it can be excellent. (May ask D at some point about PBS). Saw too an old VHS player in a storage space above bathroom sink which may have a DVD player in it too :)

Haven't done interactive group video Hangouts on this new large screen TV yet either, for ex., playing Scottish small pipes with another person in real time elsewhere, and thus re-writing the idea of TV. My Android smartphone with camera partly 'casts' from the internet Web pages via a little box called Google Chromecast to the large screen TV ... a significant web centric addition to TV.

Looking forward to co-building too and visiting a realistic virtual Harbin in Google Street View with time slider on the web, and "casting" it onto this large screen interactively as well ... and as a digital history project too ... and so much more interactively.

So glad you enjoyed C's visit ... appreciating your friendships much ...

Very hot here today too ...

Hoping to hear back soon-ish about: re career (below) ...

Heard a Moroccan scholar talk at Stanford about water issues the other day ... she's staying as a Fulbright scholar for 3 months near there with someone who has worked at the State Dept ... and we'll meet at Stanford for a coffee soon. Per our emails, I hope this bodes well for a possible position at Stanford too.

Glad to have talked with A recently too ... hope it bodes well somehow for a safer world ...

Thanks for your email, Ma ... and glad your friends are coming to visit you on Cuttyhunk especially :)

L,
Scott

Dear L,

Am waiting for 3 things re World University and School's next steps  / revenue

1) to hear back from BPPE - Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education - the State of California, hopefully to add an addendum to existing state regulations which define private education in CA as involving paying tuition ... whereas CC-4 MIT OCW's licensing allows A) Sharing B) Adaptation but C) Non-commercially. So if California wants free-to-students' MIT OCW-centric degrees via WUaS, it seems they might have to develop legally with the words, "pay," "tuition," "fees," "costs," "non-commercially" etc. in new ways in the regulations.

(And this potential BPPE development would inform WUaS accrediting with WASC senior).

2) to hear back from the National Science Foundation grant positively re our WUaS proposal

3) to hear back from Stanford re a position

Sincerely,
Scott

Hi M,

Curious about friendship or pairbonds developing while esurfing or watching together on the same screen (TV or Web browser). ... and re new TV ... this might happen more readily watching a movie together than otherwise.

Your friendships, Ma, are strong and many (I think - and on Cuttyhunk in a different way than in Pgh), and you are also very giving and accommodating (as I see this) with friends, with many decades of history at this ... I learn from you, as a man, but with a focus on friendship with partner for beginning a family presently ... And thinking of friends as allies is somewhat new for me ... but I appreciate the idea of friends itself re the idea of allies ... and even a British idea of friendship (German too in a different way ) ...

friends' def.: "a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection, typically exclusive of sexual or family relations"

I actually teach (http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html) about some related questions of socialty and the internet, and researched a little further in these regards per - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1025570321166819328

Interesting that the word 'friend' isn't in the Desiderata - http://mwkworks.com/desiderata.html (which ideas' George Alexander MD stood by) - and with its focus on the individual (in its wisdom?)

Might like to invite more good friends over ... but Ed for ex. finds Canyon a bit scary

I have some hopes for Leonie potentially  coming over ... friends first ... but to be seen, and I'm still circulating, yet if she does visit and friendship grows, maybe we'll watch some films on TV :) eg La Dolce Vita which great film you can actually watch in its entirety from here https://twitter.com/sgkmacleod/status/1025486936692027392 (but which you can't yet Chromecast to a larger screen because you don't have Chromecast :) ... (Just found out I can also Chromecast newly from my laptop, which has a web camers - which means I Can use Google group video 10-person Hangouts on the big screen, thus making this new TV interactive for conversation and music-making ... but not yet music-making in real real time, only in real time ... since there's still a little lag in the internet's 'real time" which is pretty extraordinary as it is :)

Getting hot here ... and heading off to Stanford soon :)

L,
Scott
