Dear Prof. & CS Chair Aiken (Alex) and Prof. Emeritus Knuth (Don) who's email I don't have,
Stanford President Emeritus Hennessy (John) and Prof. and Med Chair Harrington MD (Bob), and friends,

Thank you, Don, again for your excellent Christmas Lecture "Dancing Links -- Donald Knuth's Annual Christmas Lecture (Free Live Lecture)" - https://events.stanford.edu/events/815/81510/. (At your Xmas Lecture last year, Don, you kindly signed my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic book's book mark here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/12/european-herring-gull-stanford-petr.html - which bookmark you may still have as well). Thank you as well.

And thank you, Alex, for your helpful introduction to Don's Christmas Lecture yesterday (as well as your excellent panel moderation at the Stanford Historical Society's "Creating World-Class Computer Science at Stanford: 60 Years of Innovation" which video you'll find here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/05/pelican-creating-world-class-computer.html - with my question which Nils Nilsson kindly replied to. In this same blog entry entitled "Pelican: "Creating World-Class Computer Science at Stanford: 60 Years of Innovation" video (I was at this), Beginnings of WUaS Corporation Mission Statement, "What is Alphabet's mission statement?", Google's Mission, World University and School's Mission statement as parent to WUaS Corporation," you'll find, Prof. Hennessy, Alphabet's Mission Statement at the time (about which I was curious).

I'm writing, Alex and Don, to inquire about your suggestions for how best to grow CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric World University and School (both wings - both A) non-profit 501 c 3 World University and School, and B) for profit general stock WUaS Press / Corporation ), both planned in ~200 countries' official and main languages for online CC-4 MIT OCW WUaS degrees - Bachelor, Ph.D., law, M.D. as well as I.B. high school - and wiki schools for open teaching and learning in 7,097 living languages.

In exploring this with Stanford, I did meet two times recently with Jonathan Lai as a Stanford Graduate School of Education staff person/representative to explore developing a coding team for WUaS for both A) World University and School's platform, and B) the WUaS Press / Corp, out of the Stanford GSE, but it  doesn't appear that such a team is emerging after all. While I did begin 4 new WUaS web pages in Google Sites - e.g. https://sites.google.com/view/worlduniversityandschool/home - as a consequence of our meetings, one main strategic question remains for WUaS about how to tool for machine learning on both wings, the technical coding skills for which I don't have.

*

With regard to the WUaS web platform development questions In Google Sites, I've now successfully created 4 web pages, but the 3 new ones aren't working publicly yet. I'm writing to ask for some help in figuring out how to make these, and this whole system and platform, work please.

This World Univ & Sch Home page is working in Sites:
A)
501 c 3 non-profit World University and School wing -
https://sites.google.com/view/worlduniversityandschool ... (http://worlduniversityandschool.org)

but these new WUaS Corp pages aren't:
B)
for-profit general stock company WUaS Press / Corp -
Press: https://www.worlduniversityandschool.org/academicpressatworlduniversityandschool ... (http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html)

Book: https://www.worlduniversityandschool.org/haikuish-poetry ... (http://www.scottmacleod.com/HaikuishPoetryBook.html)

Book: https://www.worlduniversityandschool.org/naked-harbin-ethnography ... (http://www.scottmacleod.com/ActualVirtualHarbinBook.html)

The latter three are all on the B) WUaS Press / Corp for-profit general stock company wing, and I could make these two books available in PDF format for sale immediately, if I get the payment system working (planned from all ~200 countries). And these web pages on the B) WUaS Co wing should eventually feed into a publicly traded stock price, after this wing goes public with an IPO.

Please remember that both A) and B) are separate legal entities in the state of California, and it's important for them to remain separate platform-wise I think (so the above new Press and Books' web pages could be considered mockups).

And WUaS already has Intuit Quickbooks for non-profits in the cloud - which correlates to non-profit A) ... but can't work with for-profit B.

I'm attaching, for your information, WUaS's financial reports - for both wings - for this month.

As Chairs, Alex and Bob, of Stanford Computer Science and Stanford Medicine, and in WUaS seeking, too, to develop online Medical Schools with online teaching hospitals for online clinical care again in each of all ~200 countries' official / main languages (perhaps collaborating with Google's Project Baseline & Project ECHO) and possibly with the New England Journal of Medicine's Continuing Medicine Education (CME) modules as the basis for the first 2 years of online medical schools (again in ~200 countries' official languages), I wonder if you could suggest some Stanford CS graduate students / medical students with coding skills please?

I'm currently seeking a faculty position at Stanford, as World University and School seeks to develop - and also to hire potentially 30 Stanford graduate students to teach sections in group video/Google Hangouts to 100-500 online undergraduate students using MIT OCW and with the MIT faculty in video. For this World Univ & Sch World University and School has applied for a National Science Foundation Grant.

World University seeks to become the Harvard / MIT / Stanford / Oxbridge of the Internet and by accrediting in all ~200 countries' main languages for free-to-students' Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, M.D. and I.B. high school degrees. Stanford would benefit from some fraction of the $46,320 per year per student it costs for tuition to go to Stanford/Harvard/MIT/, reimbursed  to WUaS by countries' and governments' ministries of education around the world - due to the CC-4 MIT OCW licensing +. And Alphabet would benefit from the WUaS Press / Corp's planned for-profit, general stock revenue streams - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2016/01/14-planned-wuas-revenue-streams.html - in all ~200 countries' official languages, and indeed in all 7,097 living languages.

How might we best follow up on some of these questions, and in particular to develop both WUaS platforms in tooling for machine learning?

Thank you, and Merry Christmas, as well!

All the best, Scott

Law Schools at World University and School (planned in main languages in them)

PS

Within Google Sites, I'd like to begin to develop with this 4 column approach - https://www.harvard.edu/ - especially for WUaS's ~12 main areas:

1 Languages (in all ~8,000+ - each a Uni or Sch with WUaS Universal Translator: https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/WUaS_Universal_Translator)
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages

2 Countries/Nation States with map (in all ~200+ countries, each a Uni or Sch in official/main languages)
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States

3 You at WUaS & Admissions/Registering at WUaS for free, accrediting, best STEM-centric CC OCW, online Bach., Ph.D., Law, M.D. and I.B. degrees - planned for all 7.5 billion wiki teachers/learners
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University

4 Subjects (using SUBJECT TEMPLATE to create new subjects)

6 Music School at WUaS (planned for each of ALL instruments, and in all 7k languages as wiki)
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Music_School

7 Library Resources (all museums in all languages in a realistic virtual earth - think Google Streetview with time slider)
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Library_Resources

8 Museums (ALL museums ever in ALL 8k languages in a realistic virtual earth - think Google Streetview with time slider)

12 Research (best STEM CC OpenCourseWare-centric - in ~200 countries official languages, and in all 7,097 living languages as wiki schools)
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Research

How best to begin the "backend" planning for applying / registering / matriculating students in all ~200 countries' official languages - and first with accreditation and via the state of California's Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education ... ie course catalog connected with matriculated students ... and all of this while tooling for machine learning.

Thank you !

So one further question I have is A) how to develop each of these WUaS wiki subject pages - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects - in an HTML editor,  and B) especially as a SUBJECT TEMPLATE in Miraheze Mediawiki re this SUBJECT TEMPLATE - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE (so turning this into a template accessing 300 languages eventually) - so that its sections (in each of ~300 languages) can interoperate with WIKIDATA / WIKIBASE - https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Wikibase - in 300 languages (MediaWiki and Wikidata/Wikibase are Wikipedia technologies too. FYI, WUaS donated ourselves to Wikidata in 2015 for co-development, and got Miraheze Mediawiki as a new wiki in 2017 as a consequence). I'd also like to learn how to work with the sidebar in Miraheze Mediawiki, perhaps with this specific page as an example - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Wikidata_databases_and_ecosystems - but with all ~725 WUaS wiki pages.

WUaS seeks to become the Harvard / Stanford / MIT / Oxbridge of the Internet in all ~200 countries' official languages for the degrees I've mentioned before, and wiki schools for open teaching and learning in all ~7097 living languages. MediaWiki with Wikidata / Wikibase in ~300 languages is a start. Eventually WUaS students will be able to add to all of these in this manner - https://twitter.com/Wikimedia/status/1062417367261741057

I riffed a bit at the end of Don Knuth's Christmas Lecture about how he teaches:

Don Knuth teaches

Show and tell

He’s generous and kindly

Showing problem solving

One specific Computer Science problem after another

He 'troubles' the symbols

And is so active in mind

He’s a constant fount of knowledge

And Stanford CS intellectual engagement

He's kind of an engine of mathematical processing ... at 80 years of age,

wearing his Swedish red colorful shirt.

The NVIDIA hall room at Stanford is full – jam packed

His teaching is kind of beloved ... sweet ... he gives a lot and students sense this

His style makes people happy ...

He’s made a list of solutions he wants to share with us for this Christmas talk

And he’s a also stream of computer science consciousness

N queens – putting a queen somewhere
Solution – shortest distance to the center,
or the longest distance

Windmill dominoes
And you put a piece at a 45 degree angle

He’s working through a book he’s written

"I like to think these pages contain
The best write-ups of these 7 puzzles"

'All as fascinating as Soduku '
and there's so much that is fascinating in these
recreational math puzzles

I wish you all a merry Christmas

People Swedish dancing on screen
then ballet dancing on a grid,

is how his talk began,
and he turns this into
math and computer science thinking

I asked/ wrote as well in the Livestream chat:

Neha & All, what's your thinking about a single cryptocurrency (with blockchain ledger) backed by ~200 central banks (eg post Euro in ~19 out of 28 nation states backed by these central banks)? Thanks.

Might it be possible to end poverty with a single cryptocurrency with blockchain & even a UBI for 7.5 billion people https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/12/greater-coucal-4-billion-people-in.html …
