Dear Rupak,

Thanks for your great Stanford NASA presentation - "HPC Matters: How Advanced Computing Enables NASA Missions" https://events.stanford.edu/events/843/84313/ - and very nice to talk to you. When might we best meet for coffee - in Stanford Coffee House in Tressider? - to talk further about a realistic virtual universe for space exploration as well as, for ex., medical tele-robotic surgery in space as well (e.g. with lag), the NASA Earth Exchange (NEX), and Quantum chips (e.g. the Bristlecone chip), and the astounding upcoming NASA space missions + you talked about? Am thinking conceptually Google Street View with TIME SLIDER, Maps, Earth with TensorFlow for machine learning with realistic avatar bots - and all at the cellular and atomic levels too (and re quantum computing). Such a realistic virtual earth would also be useful for the Frankfurt Airport gate problem project you mentioned, as well as the autonomous driving project you touched on after your talk.

MIT OpenCourseWare-centric wiki World University and School - like Wikipedia in 300 languages with MIT OCW in 5 languages - seeks to develop this SINGLE realistic virtual earth / universe as both STEM field sites into which scientists could add their simulations, as well as for 'classrooms'.

Check out the MIT OCW courses in the following wiki subjects in your fields to get an idea of how World University and School will work for matriculating students (who could then develop this realistic virtual universe further) ...

When we meet for coffee, let's talk too about India World University and School - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/India - and planned in the Bengali language - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Bengali_/_Bangla_language - as well as Hindi - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Hindi_language - for example (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages).

In this realistic virtual earth I'm seeking to facilitate, am also seeking to explore doing brain research and not only re incorporating, for ex., MIT's Ed Boyden's expansion microscopy brain research via video-to-VR of the atomic level into this single realistic virtual earth, for example, but also brain research from my actual-virtual, physical-digital ethnographic field site in northern California, Harbin Hot Springs, and potentially in very innovative ways with brain wave headsets mapping the brain, while also transmitting data into individual avatar bots representing individuals (see, for ex. https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/06/adenium-obesum-forehead-wearable.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/06/death-valley-pupfish-reed-prof-nathalia.html).

In a very beginning way, here's what I have in mind by a 3D interactive realistic virtual universe / earth and at the atomic / cellular levels too in something like Google Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth / Translate +++ : Visit the Harbin Hot Springs' gate here, and "walk" "4 miles" down the road to "amble" around Middletown, CA: http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg ~ https://twitter.com/HarbinBook ~ http://bit.ly/HarbinBook ~ and check out "Pegman" in the lower left corner, which I think will grow into human avatar bots at the cellular and atomic levels too!

Thank you again, Rupak, and looking forward to coffee together! When might be some good possible times to meet, and where if not Tressider, might you suggest meeting?

Best regards, Scott

HPC Matters: How Advanced Computing Enables NASA Missions
Rupak Biswas
Director, Exploration Technology Directorate NASA Ames Research Center

"High-fidelity modeling, simulation, and analysis, enabled by supercomputing, are extremely important to NASA’s mission to pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery, and aeronautics research. Anchored by two of the world’s largest supercomputers, NASA Ames Research Center provides a fully integrated production environment to satisfy the agency’s diverse computational needs. However, traditional supercomputing is not enough. Quantum computing promises an unprecedented ability to solve intractable problems by harnessing quantum mechanical effects. Neuromorphic computing can be radiation hardened and effectively used for in-situ decision making in harsh environments. The overall goal with this spectrum of advanced computing capabilities is to provide a consolidated and sustained bleeding-edge environment for all of NASA's computational and analysis requirements."

Can we develop a realistic virtual universe at the atomic, cellular and Street View levels on NASA Ames supercomputers, please?

Dear Dick, Erica, Ed, Byron, Cindy and Janie,

Following up on this health / eustachian tube dysfunction conversation:

Medical appointment 'annual prevention physical' - which Dr. deLeon (at KP), who went to Stanford as undergrad (whom I met for first time and liked) prefers to call an 'annual review' went well. I weigh 183.8 pounds light! with a blood pressure of 100/63 - both excellent from my perspective. And the 6 lab tests from blood work were all good. I think my diet of the past 4 weeks or so is showing results - an additional, low carbohydrates, low salt diet with increased movement, on top of a good ovo-lacto vegetarian diet with 10+ servings of fruits and vegetables per day, but far fewer grains/legumes these days, plus a daily egg and multi-vitamin (for b12 and iron).

I continue to research about my right ear "eustachian tube dysfunction," and while googling hasn't yielded anything for this yet re related genetic engineering for this, I did find this helpful - https://stanfordhealthcare.org/medical-conditions/ear-nose-and-throat/eustachian-tube-dysfunction/treatments.html. Am interested too in how modeling eustachian tube dysfunction in virtual reality would work, both generally, but also how a medical doctor would eventually model my ear, for ex., or someone else's particular ears with ETD.

In a related vein, I recently found this medical virtual reality of the eye -

Walking into eyes using VR | Wellcome Image Awards 2017 (long version)

- and think a very similar approach to modeling medical virtual reality of the ear could develop. I wonder newly how an otoscope or auriscope (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Otoscope) with AI could video the ear and then extrapolate too to a condition even, for example. I also wonder how such data could all be added into a single realistic virtual earth (an idea I'm heralding - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarth?src=hash) with avatar bots of individuals and at the cellular and atomic levels (genetic / genes too), and then potentially be added to an individual's electronic medical record as avatar bot, as well. Thinking Stanford / Duke / Google's Project Baseline here, how could machine learning contribute to mapping a pathway to health in new ways. How to move from - https://stanfordhealthcare.org/medical-conditions/ear-nose-and-throat/eustachian-tube-dysfunction/treatments.html - to new therapies emerging out of such developments of a realistic virtual earth at the cellular level for medicine, I wonder?

I hope this finds you all well.

Best regards, Scott
