Dear Ma (Janie), Ed, Larry and All,
Working here on getting the Agenda and News out for MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School's Annual Meeting at WUaS Monthly Business Meeting on Saturday.
Here are the most recent Minutes in these regards:
Minutes:
- https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/10/scintillant-hummingbird-minutes-for.html
Another reason to explore a faculty position at Harvard Anthropology is to facilitate the research for and writing of a next book I'm planning, namely a MIT-Stanford STEM innovation ethnography, since the 1960s. See, for example: http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2016/07/carrot-compare-stem-cultures-of-mit.html. Being a Harvard Professor, in Cambridge, would allow me to do ethnographic field work at MIT, talking to people who were MIT students, faculty, staff et al. at the time, about STEM innovation at MIT, for example, as well as access technologies and archives. With this faculty position, I would then be able to also carry out comparative ethnographic research in California, both at Stanford, as well as at Harbin Hot Springs, as I develop a realistic virtual Harbin for actual-virtual, physical-digital ethnographic comparison and field work, and via ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy. I know a number of the Harvard Anthropology faculty, having met them at Stanford, and have cited a few of them in my academic publications / blog.
Sincerely, Scott

Hi Ma (Janie), and All,
Per my email the other day to you about not getting the MIT Media Lab faculty position last year, and ongoing lack of monies' issues re World Univ & Sch and personally, I wonder these days about getting a Harvard Anthropology faculty position and re my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project, as well as the creation of a realistic virtual earth for anthropology - http://www.scottmacleod.com/research-group.html - and also re this new social science / ethnography / STEM method and theory I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy?m=0. I'm also curious if Stanford Anthropology and other faculty and possibly John Hennessy too could help with this, and potentially Berkeley Anthropology faculty too. Would be interesting to explore moving back to the Boston area in the autumn of 2020, for example, in these regards.
Thoughts about whom I might contact in these regards? Joi Ito was a main contact at MIT until he stepped down because of the craziness of big money and children sexual victims I'll call this. And it's possible I may have saved a lot of kids even by my whistle-blowing at the San Francisco Quaker Meeting in these regards too. And I'd be much closer proximity-wise to MIT re developing CC-4 MIT OCW-centric World University and School in MIT OCW's 5 languages for example, and hopefully with MIT graduate students teaching sections to some of the courses and their faculty ... and in their planning to become faculty themselves. What do you think?
You might enjoy again re-visiting some of the writing in this recent blog entry - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/11/northern-gannett-virtual-college-stem.html - which is quite long now, but kinda interesting as well ... and full of good ideas too - especially about ethics, with a new related blog label for this - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethics?m=0.

Good afternoon, Ma,
House concert was enjoyable, in a beautiful "Berkeley craftsman style house" and good to hear Dick Hensold play well the Northumbrian small pipes (will blog a bit about this today - and re creativity and upcoming SSP album). Didn't meet anyone who might come to Open Band that I know of, and most of the folks there were in possibly their 60s. The owner of the house, Cathy, was a great kind of 'old hippy' I'd say ... Being among the audience leads me to think through exploring how I might want to seek a Harvard Anthropology Professor's position next year ... re my research, but also with regard to MIT OCW-centric World Univ & Sch. I imagine most people in the room would bear some resemblance to the social circles I might be finding my way into in Cambridge, and Boston, and re music too ... and especially re my various research and book projects ... back and forth, both in Cambridge, as well as in northern California ...
Good to get a nice note from Karen Leighty yesterday after sending out the WUaS Agenda and News ... and looking forward to seeing them in December in DC. Time to go through past emails and add some more people to the WUaS email lists, and send out one more Agenda announcement.
Heading to "Schoolab SF's International Night: Happy Hour Rendezvous with global entrepreneurs and startups" - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/schoolab-sfs-international-night-tickets-78662013199 - and am thinking Brittany would be a good startup Chief Operating Officer of WUaS, if she could be assigned to this - or similar (French is an official language in about 29 of ~200 countries, re online course ware in these regards for degrees, and although a Californian, she seems fluent in French). It could be interesting with time to meet a 28 year old MD who communicated a bit like she does and is personality-wise somewhat similar - and looking to begin a family as well.
Humorously and having heard back from Deirdre, a 'MD' - so-called 'managing director' - at Harbin about 3 weeks ago, I'm curious how Harbin will do 'security' from the 'inside.' (Deirdre's an insider' in a way ... while I am only in the participant side of Anthropological participant-observation methods' wise). Harbin's 'security' in the past has been about as funky as Harbin itself (a joke? ... or Harbin's own creation, with Harbin's own sanctions - including probably / possibly use of force????) ... Is Neil, Deirdre's partner (and long time Harbin person too), now head of security ... I ask in a kind of joking way? And if somehow Harbin and Harbin security collaborated with both the database people re visitors (would this be Google? ... as well as even, say, the US army, for example in one way or another, and not the CA police or other outsider groups/identities ... which could be a funky conversation unfolding now as Harbin re-builds after opening in January 2019 and after the fire of September 2015), how will the cultural aspects of security (not motivated by money or capitalism aspects ... since they're rebuilding so very slowly) at Harbin and re California law especially work out? And what might get institutionalized in these regards, as they as work through and develop a discourse / culture in 'thinking' through these 'security' questions, since it was probably a kind of 'hippy' unthought through 'security' from a beyond-Harbin perspective for decades. :) (How might I be protected if I were to head up their again for example in 2020 ... and how to weed out the bad apples, and even identify them, for example, in the post-hippy 'morass' or cultural chaos of Harbin after the fire?) And how would possible victims be protected, for example, and criminals prosecuted - a language that isn't as evolved as in Pennsylvania in the same ways? Just some Harbin musings ... and also re this blog post ...

Thanks, Dick,
I enjoyed your concert and meeting you, too. A friend, Barbara Salisbury (with whom I play in Open Band for Scottish Country Dancers on Mondays - https://twitter.com/ TheOpenBand/status/ 1171460986571644929 - and with Patti above too), let me know about your house concert in that beautiful 'Berkeley craftsman style house' and re your Northumbrian piping (and I play the Scottish small pipes, as we talked about). I noticed you play many different instruments - http://www.dickhensold.com/ instruments.htm - and wanted to bring, further, to your attention the Music School at World University and School - https://wiki. worlduniversityandschool.org/ wiki/World_University_Music_ School (planning each of all instruments in each of all 7,111 known living languages - with machine translation - each a wiki subject page for open teaching and learning, to begin, and with further wiki page creation possible) - especially since you have a music degree from Oberlin. See the Bagpipe Tutorials' wiki page - https://wiki. worlduniversityandschool.org/ wiki/Bagpipe_Tutorials - as an example of a wiki subject page that is furthest along, but since MIT OpenCourseWare doesn't have any bagpipe related courses, there are no MIT OCW courses here (to give you an idea of how WUaS will work for credit, too) ... but there are College of Piping Tutor resources, for example. (I just searched on and found interestingly this MIT resource - https://lit.mit.edu/people/ wdonaldson/ - re his two bagpipe books, with a third on the way:).
Eventually the Music School will move into real real time music making over the internet and in a realistic virtual earth (perhaps on Google's Stacks and re their recent claims of Quantum supremacy ... re lack of lag).(Ongoing envisioning of my Scottish small pipes' "Honey in the Bag" album in 2020 here in the bagpiping label in my daily blog - https://scott-macleod.
Am seeking too for the Press at World University and School to make possible musicians creating their own albums - a compilation of MP3s? - and also printing to CDs and distributing via the WUaS bookstore, as easy as pie. ... http://
Thanks again for your good piping and music-making, and an enjoyable Berkeley house concert.
Sincerely, Scott
Here some related free open bagpiping wiki subjects at MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School
... and there are a few more piping wiki subject pages at WUaS - check in the "Links" sections ...Cheers, Scott
