Dear Peter, and World Universitians' All,
Regarding this COVID-19 Google announcement below making Google Meet video conferencing more available:
I'm glad to write Peter Bothe in Bremen joined the 'WUaS team' on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/WorldUnivandSch - recently, by accepting the invitation ...
And he observed too (- with regard to this Google Education email that due to COVID-19 they were making Google Meet video conferencing more available -) that WUaS in Google Education with Google Meet video conferencing can stream to 250 people. Wow!
Am wondering if there's an opportunity here with MIT banning events with 150 or more people, for World Univ & Sch to develop collaboration, even, with MIT lectures in Cambridge that top 150 people - and regarding this up-to-250-people in Google Meet, and for WUaS to collaborate further with MIT engineers in related remarkable ways in these regards. See:
"In response to coronavirus, MIT bans events with 150 or more people - https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/03/06/metro/response-coronavirus-mit-bans-events-with-150-or-more-people/
(And, also "First U.S. College to Close Classrooms as Virus Spreads
The University of Washington said it would move to online classes for its 50,000 students. It’s a move that other colleges around the country may follow" - https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/06/us/coronavirus-college-campus-closings.html ... and Stanford, too, just cancelled its classes, and closed the University - "Stanford University Cancels On-Campus Classes as Faculty Member Tests Positive for Coronavirus" - https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/coronavirus/stanford-university-cancels-on-campus-classes-as-faculty-member-tests-positive-for-coronavirus/2249652/ and "Education World Reacts to Coronavirus: The Latest Developments" ... https://www.edsurge.com/news/2020-03-05-education-world-reacts-to-coronavirus-the-latest-developments)
And could a hypothetical Peter Bothe help organize this, even, on the World Univ & Sch side, working with MIT course broadcasters or engineers in Cambridge - and for this autumn at WUaS, in particular?
And could also MIT Profs, and edX CEO, Anant Agarwal and, MIT Office of Digital Learning Director, Sanjay Sarma, help with the MIT side of things, as professors there?
Appreciating too Stanford Law Prof of Biosciences Hank Greely's recent Tweet :
Me, too. Or for small conferences....
"Lawprofs (or other profs) interested in effective pedagogy ... I would be interested in best practices, tips, caveats, and thoughts on effective, engaging use of Zoom for small classes and for complex topics."

PS
Thanks. And looks great, Peter, and thanks for your email as well regarding Google Meet ... For related questions, I can make people WUaS admins in Google Meet, as well as give people WUaS email addresses from Google Education, all of which could be useful to people in different ways, and will share this information with everyone in this thread. I need to look further into (your) what "they mean by live streaming? ... Or does it mean you can use Hangout Meet directly for streaming? It would be interesting to find out. If it was the case you could even get rid of Lightstream AND have the increased capacity of up to 250 participants in a video call. Wow!!!!"
And regarding further developments with virtual education and classes:

As a broadcaster, I'll include further questions in upcoming email about MIT banning "events with 150 or more people":

It would be great if WUaS could livestream from Google Meet into YouTube.com/live and record to YouTube as well. More about inviting you as a guest to this Monday as well soon!

Important update to using Hangouts Meet for remote working and learning
Dear G Suite for Education Administrator,
The spread of COVID-19 means that many educational institutions are facing or planning for closures. We know that many of you want to continue working and learning together, even if educators and students can’t be in person. Given the unique circumstances, we announced that we are rolling out changes to allow all G Suite for Education domains to take advantage of more remote learning tools, including premium Hangouts Meet features, at no additional cost.
Expanding access to premium Meet features
Hangouts Meet is already included with G Suite for Education, but we are making premium Meet features available at no additional cost to your G Suite for Education domain, worlduniversityandschool.org. The following premium Meet features will be rolled out over the next few weeks, and you'll have access to them until July 1, 2020:
- Increased participant limit of 250 participants per video call
- Live stream a video call (up to 100,000 viewers within a domain)
- Record a video call
We'll send a follow up email to confirm when the features have been rolled out to all domains.
Important: As the live stream and recording settings will be default OFF, you must enable them in the Google Admin Console to allow your users to access them. Read below for the instructions for enabling access to Meet features and updating settings for your domain. To learn more about the program specifics, see this FAQ page.
If you have purchased G Suite Enterprise for Education, you already have access to these premium features. You’ll need to assign faculty licenses to the users you want to have access to these features and enable this in the Google Admin Console.
Steps to enable access
To enable your users to access premium Meet features, set up your domain to use Hangouts Meet:
- Turn on video calling for your G Suite for Education domain.
- From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps > G Suite > Google Hangouts. Note: Hangouts Meet and classic Hangouts Chat are controlled by the same on/off setting, called “Google Hangouts,” and there is not currently a way to enable Meet without also enabling classic Chat.
- To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select an organizational unit (OU). Users without Hangouts enabled will not be able to create or join meetings.
- Verify that the Hangouts service is enabled.
- In the top right of the gray box, click Edit Service.
- Next to Service status, select ON for everyone.
- Click Save.
- Configure settings for Meet, specifically which users can create a meeting. We recommend that K-12 schools only allow faculty and staff to create meetings. Users who can’t create meetings can still join Meet video meetings created by others.
- In the Admin Console, go to Apps > G Suite > Google Hangouts > Meet settings.
- Select the OUs that contain your staff.
- Under Video calling, check the Let users place video and voice calls box, and click Save.
- Once the premium features become available for your domain over the next few weeks, configure settings for Live stream and Recording. These two features will be default off, so you’ll need to enable them specifically for OUs and groups of users who should have access. We recommend that K-12 schools only allow faculty and staff to record or live stream.
- From the Admin console Home page, go to Apps > G Suite > Google Hangouts.
- Click Meet settings.
- To apply the setting to everyone, leave the top organizational unit selected. Otherwise, select an OU.
- Choose a setting.
- Click Save.
Changes typically take effect in minutes, but can take up to 24 hours.

1) Reversing Global Warming, since people have significantly apparently stopped flying, and 2) even somehow reversing the global illegal sex trade (???) and possibly too regarding my ethics inquiry into Stanford University and some of my 6-8 ethics' whistle blowing-s in recent years (... and 3) securing $8.3 billion in US governmental funding for US virus and genetic research - re aging reversal research too?, and 4) preparing digitally for the next outbreak of 'whatever' - e.g. another virus per Harvard/MIT geneticist Prof George Church https://twitter.com/geochurch/status/1227150486320615424?s=20, a war etc. and especially in all ~200 countries, and their languages, via the internet ... and on the other hand, an act of bio-terrorism, partly to learn about its effects eg https://twitter.com/GerdMoeBehrens/status/1236612955694944256?s=20).

Um 7:30 start my first business day after isolation. Today with me: the mask and a form signed by me, on which I confirm that I have not left Shanghai in the past 14 days, that I have not met any infected people and that I am healthy myself. As these forms always require a passport number, the passport must also be included. When I leave the residential complex in which I live, I get a day pass, which I hand in again if I want to go in at night. This way, the property management keeps track of who has just returned to Shanghai and has to register.
The office floor is mostly empty and cold. We are looking forward to finally seeing our colleagues who are not isolated. Of course without physical contact and with a respectable distance. My weekly ration of masks is ready on the desk. After work, it goes back home in record time. Past closed shops and restaurants. I am no longer isolated, but it dawns on me that the difference in everyday life will only be formal. Back in the house, I'm alone again. My wife and children are still in Germany. Numerous neighbors as well.
Contrary to my expectations, the virus containment measures in Shanghai will be tightened on the following days. Recent arrangement.
