Hi Matthew, (& Larry),
I hope this email finds you well. And thanks for your email yesterday. One item that emerged from WUaS Monthly Business Meeting this morning has to do with when WUaS can remunerate edX (re the edX integration team and WUaS in G Suite for Education), and regarding building out WUaS in the WUaS G Suite for Education platform (or similar). When might we best do this? Could we plan to sign the edX-WUaS partnering documents at this time? And could we get some WUaS courses for credit, with grades automatically entered to -
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - and up and running for May 1, 2021 possibly?
In thinking today in WUaS MBM further about WUaS registration / application in WUaS G-Suite for Education, I think WUaS would seek to build on this page -
https://authn.edx.org/register - but with prospective students writing in their passport name written in (In ENGLISH - since we have two wiki-Universitians having tried to register in English from Australia, and in Russian, from who knows where), probably in the Full Name field ... and including, above this, something like "Register for Free 4-year Bachelor degrees, and Free PhDs" - followed on the next pages with further related WUAS degree program information (like which major / program, transcripts, stated commitment to 4 years, agreeing to honor code, to countries' laws and legal codes, first year courses) ... and with the passport name possibly dovetailing even with the Stanford Mine Pi registration process, so that our registering students might even begin to get free money in the WUaS signing-on process.
WUaS is looking forward to building out our own registration links, and we're still aiming for 2 degrees in the registration process - Bachelor and PhD - with a Master's 'exit strategy,' but are not planning at this stage to offer only a Master's degree. Seeking PhD students, potentially taking 5 years avg time to completion.
When please might WUaS compensate edX to get this process going? Thank you.
Sincerely, Scott
Hi Matthew, (& Larry),
Am just getting ready to email out the WUaS Agenda & News for Monthly Business Meeting this week. Where do we stand with getting a WUaS edX student registration link, for both Ph.D. and Bachelor degree programs, for students beginning prepatorily as soon as May 1, 2021?
WUaS would be interested, please, in sending out such a WUaS edX student registration link either in the WUaS Agenda & News, or with the WUaS Minutes after the open hour-long WUaS Monthly Business Meeting on Saturday, 3/20/21. Thank you!
Sincerely, Scott

Hello Scott,
Thank you for your email and insights. I can prepare partnership agreement documents for your review. After they have been received, we can coordinate a time to discuss your feedback for the partnership language and plan the next steps with the solutions architect team for what integration tools we can incorporate into the WUaS G-Suite for Education.
As always, please feel free to schedule time with my directly using my calendar link in my signature.
Best regards,
Matthew

Dear Matthew (and Larry),
Thanks so much for your email saying "I can prepare partnership agreement documents for your review. After they have been received, we can coordinate a time to discuss your feedback for the partnership language and plan the next steps with the solutions architect team for what integration tools we can incorporate into the WUaS G-Suite for Education." This is a momentous opportunity for CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School.
I'm glad too to have received this morning an "ISSIP Awards Receipt Notification WUaS March 26 2021," which I'm attaching to this email. That said, I reached out to ISSIP founders, and similar, this morning with the following:
"Dear Larry, Jim, Yassi, Jane, ISSIP awards,
I'm glad to write that CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch just received the "attached letter confirming receipt of [WUaS's] submission" for an ISSIP Award.
I'm also glad to write that edX just yesterday afternoon sent WUaS an email that edX can send WUaS the edX-WUaS partnering documents now, which is a momentous next step for WUaS. This would involve edX integrating their edX dashboard in WUaS G-Suite for Education, for matriculating students, grades, transcripts, etc. (and potentially, in the process, planning, brainstorming-wise, to code for all 7.8 billion people on the planet as wiki teachers and learners in all 7,139 known living languages, and 200 nation states, at WUaS). But this would also involve WUaS remunerating edX $50,000 which WUaS does not have at this time. So until WUaS can obtain the $50,000, it doesn't seem feasible for WUaS to sign these edX-WUaS partnering documents, which would allow us to begin to matriculate both WUaS PhD (~5 year?) and Bachelor degree (4 year) students as early as May 1, 2021, and on September 1, for online free-to-students' CC-4 OCW-centric degrees.
Here again is the WUaS ISSIP Award application -
Please let WUaS know if you can think of any way for WUaS to obtain the $50,000 dollars to pay edX to begin this edX dashboard integration into WUaS G-Suite for Education. Thank you very much.
Sincerely, Scott

And I've heard back from MIT Alumnus, and co-founder of ISSIP, just now, that:
"Hi Scott,
ISSIP is a poor non-profit, so cannot help with the $50K.
-Jim Spohrer"
So I'm not clear where WUaS will obtain the 50,000 dollars you've mentioned, since WUaS is also a poor non-profit, and doesn't have whatsoever $50K.
As you may have read, WUaS is interested in even beginning to matriculate PhD and Bachelor degree students for preliminary coursework (will WUaS students' 'course in' initially to a degree program, in part, I wonder?) with edX on May 1, 2021, and would be very interested in reading and potentially signing the edX-WUaS partnering documents, but WUaS doesn't have the anywhere near the 50K. How best for edX to begin integrating the edX dashboard into WUaS G-Suite for Education in a timely manner? WUaS is seeking to create a launch event with a professional web site too well before May 1, 2021. What would you suggest please? Thank you for your email and potentially for these partnering documents.
Sincerely, Scott

Hello Scott,
Thank you for forwarding the email with ISSIP with context around the WUaS application. For your knowledge, the agreement with edX will detail three main categories: 1. Billing information, 2. Integration and Access Configuration 3. Learner data privacy. Our agreements are designed to be valid for only a period of time, therefore I'm curious when you will learn more regarding funding from the ISSIP? I can time the work our teams internally have for preparing the agreement to when you expect the agreement to be able to be signed.
Best regards,
Matthew

Dear Matthew (and Larry),
I hope this email finds you well. And again, thanks so much for your email saying "I can prepare partnership agreement documents for your review. After they have been received, we can coordinate a time to discuss your feedback for the partnership language and plan the next steps with the solutions architect team for what integration tools we can incorporate into the WUaS G-Suite for Education." This is a momentous opportunity for CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School, planned in all ~200 countries and in their main language for free-to-students' Bachelor, PhD, (Law, MD and IB high school degrees).
Having said that, and heard back again from ISSIP co-founder Jim Spohrer (and MIT alumnus in physics, as well as having a Yale PhD in CS), the good news is that WUaS has received a receipt from ISSIP which says we applied for an ISSIP Innovation Award (but which award didn't say it involved money, too); the bad news is that ISSIP doesn't have the money anyway, and as Jim observes below, it's hard for ISSIP to raise 50k for WUaS in today's climate, and that he thinks that "The individual companies [in ISSIP] would not donate or invest it either for this purpose."
So, how best now to integrate the edX dashboard into WUaS G-Suite for Education (planning for 200 countries, and even speakers of 7.139 languages, and 7.8 billion people on the planet as wiki teachers / learners), so WUaS can get the reimbursement mechanism there from ~200 nation states working, and for WUaS to begin to offer a few preliminary (even) PhD and Bachelor-degree edX courses as early as May 1, 2021, I'm wondering? And how best also to proceed with the edX-WUaS partnering documents' signing - for a number of other important reasons? While ISSIP seemed like one possibility for WUaS to get $50,000 from, since its members are both very large companies, and some smaller organizations, WUaS doesn't have any other options at this point, from which to raise the money, - partly because WUaS doesn't have a track record thus far in raising monies, having been a very poor nonprofit organization for around 14 years now. With 4 prospective PhD applicants / candidates, and I'd think a mass of Bachelor degree applicants or candidates for free-to-students' CC-4 MIT OCW-centric and initially edX-based degrees, beginning even as early as this May, how best to proceed? Thank you.
All the best, Scott

Hi Jim,
Thanks so much for your subsequent email - and its informative substance. WUaS will explore further how to begin to develop our edX-WUaS partnership, and for edX to begin to integrate their edX Dashboard in WUaS G-Suite for Education.
Thank you, Scott
Hi Scott,
No thoughts unfortunately.
Hard to raise $50K for WUaS in the current pandemic climate especially.
ISSIP doesn't have it for sure.
The individual companies would not donate or invest it either for this purpose, in my opinion.
-Jim
