Aging reversal ... "The bridge between molecular and cellular worlds is being built. It’s a whole new world …" Ewan Birney
Can't say I've always agreed w/what he has done but, on balance, I think he has been a very positive influence at NIH. I hope he is able to enjoy a long and healthy retirement. (And work on his guitar playing!) https://t.co/EUtCHxbaAW

Thanks. I don’t give much thought to aging reversal and I am curious about your interest in it. To what end? Yes, I do love life and fully intend to live to 100, but aging reversal seems a bridge too far and not sure it’s worth pursuing. What am I missing??

Re: Aging Reversal
Tym, thanks!
If there's some possibility that we could reverse aging per Harvard & MIT Professor of Genetics' George Church in this 60 Minutes' minute-long video -
https://youtu.be/bnCEIPQFNnk (by adding genes back in) - via genetic engineering and also live for 100s of years + (even in 30 year olds' bodyminds), the world would be a very very different place.
(Calorie restriction with good nutrition has been the only proven way to extend life an incredible ~10-15 %, across species up to this point - https://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2020/can-calorie-restriction-extend-your-lifespan/ - which I think I learned about at Reed, but was interested to read this Harvard article published last August 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic).
It's a radical re-envisioning of life in the middle of the genetic engineering revolution, that might work, especially with the advances in vaccine production of the past 18 months. Looking forward to talking with you at 150 years of age+ if it does!
Could this be further facilitated with new IT tools in a realistic virtual earth for genetics -
Where to begin with Vast #Wiki #WUaSData project of 1 #RealisticVirtualEarth for EVERYTHING since 4.6 billion yrs ago & at cell & atomic levels too & as #RealisticVirtualEarthForGenetics? #BeginAtTheBeginning? https://t.co/G9NMjnS8v2 Is this #StreetView #TimeSlider #TensorFlowAI?

https://twitter.com/TheOpenBand/status/1383620317059244037 - at Work World University and School even, and at the molecular and the cellular levels too (think Google Street View with Time Slider). Was glad to find these recent Tweets from geneticist Ewan Birney + at Cambridge University -

Since life expectancy has declined for a broad swath of the US population due to regular 'ol health concerns, let's hope all the federal agencies that have a hand in public health work towards universal health care before we worry about extending life expectancy for the part of the population that can afford to live to 90+.

Susan!
This would be great. And, brainstorming, Work World University and School seeks to code, brainstorming-wise, for all 7.8 billion people on planet for Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records, each a Wikidata Pin #, ... and even planning for the precision of tele-robotic surgery - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/01/greta-oto-avatar-bot-electronic-medical.html?m=0 - with a definition, AND links to the beginning WUaS Medical Schools with Teaching Hospitals. WUaS would seek to facilitate further a kind of actual-virtual, physical-digital universal healthcare. Meanwhile, am appreciative of Obamacare health insurance; and what you think and write makes sense re aging reversal genetic drug therapies' emergence! I don't see either issue in the internet News I read, and haven't heard about these issues re selecting the next NIH head. It looks however like Francis Collins's laboratory at the NIH will continue under his direction after he retires as head, and that it is conducting aging research -
"His lab also seeks to develop new genetic therapies for the most dramatic form of premature aging, Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome."
Wil UBI Experiments with Stanford Mine Pi to all 7.8 billion people, each a Wikidata Pin # too, on the planet, to distribute also a single cryptocurrency backed by most of ~200 countries' central banks (with Nation States and mutual funds and others investing in Stanford Mine Pi on the Silicon Valley long-term stock exchange even via the WUaS Corporation play a role in planning financially for everyone who might live beyond 90, and even beyond 150+? Will this replace the US dollar, a de facto international currency, and the Euro in 19 of 28 countries in the EuroZone? Nation States' backed cryptocurrency questions will play huge roles in support of this who live beyond 90 and even 150!
And how will 1 realistic virtual earth help as aging reversal genetic drug therapies emerge, and Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records, and financing aging? The time slider aspects of Google Street View will aid with machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Lots of opportunities for developments in health care, research and access!
Cheers, Scott
