I asked Google Search AI with voice (my speaking to my smartphone) -
"What does the book "Naked Harbin Ethnography" say about Harbin Hot Springs counterculture in the '70s?"
The search results included a couple of links with the possibility to buy "Naked Harbin Ethnography" ... and this blog post I created while talking with the Berghahn publisher in 2015 -
Then I looked into a paper copy of "Naked Harbin Ethnography '' (2016, Academic Press at World Univ & Sch) ... and into its index (a challenge to put together), and looked up counterculture, and found about 20 or 25 page numbers. I turned to pp 55-56 and found (delightfully) - BUT WITH NOTHING ABOUT Harbin Hot Springs here in the 1970s -
"Not only can these digital communication technologies via the internet make possible connecting consciousnesses (Junker 2013 and Tan Le 2010) – as well as make potential avatar agency (see the Rorty example above), potentially even in virtual worlds, they also open the possibility for developing digital communication creativity and innovation via computer languages. Using Tan Le's headset, one could conceivably be creating virtual objects, or mentally articulating words, which are then digitally represented, directly with one's mind in real time in a virtual world, together with other end users, even while on psilocybin mushrooms. Thus in virtual Harbin, with your brain on a headset, you could be building the Taj Mahal, while I create the Ganges River, streaming from the infinite distance of way over there, coiling around your Taj Mahal, like a kundalini serpent, and streaming off into infinite timelessness up there in some nowhere. While I have suggested that the emergence of languages in human primates (Deacon 1997) is perhaps the starting point for these current remarkable digital developments in communication processes, especially virtual worlds like OpenSimulator and Second Life, the influence of human language in terms of virtual, digital, beyond-the-significance-of-signs signifiers can now become a Harbin melody in the form of virtual Harbin. Indeed, the ongoing generation of virtual worlds with actual Harbin as a seed now becomes possible, similar to the way Vedic traditions (in India) have imagined, now instantiated in multimedia (e.g. Packer and Jordan 2001, in the form of interactivity, integration, immersion, hypermedia, and new forms of narrativity). The digital implications, for Western philosophy in terms of understanding epistemology, metaphysics, and ontology, are linguistic in the context of new kinds of narrativity, vis-à-vis the creative and generative possibilities of words and language, especially metaphor (Rorty 1989:48). All of these are currently mediated digitally, with the possibility for ongoing conversations about anything that finds form, for example, in a virtual Harbin, emerging, as they do, out of the milieu of the radical 1960s."

A bit of a trip ... and social, linguistic and philosophy theory-wise ...
And it would be great to be able to time slide back to the 1970s in a realistic virtual Harbin for ongoing ethnographic field work in something like Google Street View with Time Slider, and see what evidence might be there already ... and even possibly for example, talk with Harbin HCC founder Ishvara Robert F Hartley online in group video about Harbin in the 1970s, since he got the place in around 1972 ... and for any of us to wiki add further documentation, possibly from Harbin Pubs (Publications), and create interviews, and even ourselves hang out at virtual Harbin in the 1970s in a realistic virtual Harbin, eg in 1973 or 1977 :) ... eg in an iterating #RealisticVirtualEarthForHistory
I wasn't there at Harbin Hot Springs in the 1970s (and Harbin was probably a stop on the hippie trail, like after heading to the Rainbow Gathering) and I only know Harbin's history in very sketchy ways ... and it would/could be further great to not only enter a #RealisticVirtualHarbin for learning its history then ... BUT also to EXPERIENCE IT then in a new iterating forms of virtual Hasrbin and potentially published to new book computers (Apple Vision Pro digital mask, brainwave headsets, multimedia rooms, also around one's home bathtub, and home hot tubs) and similar ...
It would be great to visit Harbin Hot Springs in the 1970s, the radical 1970s ... and in native American historical time ... any time ...
