Yes, Sacramento became the capital of California in 1854 and the state capitol building was completed in 1874. The Gold Rush brought a huge population of miners and pioneers to the Sacramento area, which became a center for commerce and agriculture.
Explanation
  • In 1852, Sacramento offered its courthouse to the state legislature.
  • In 1854, a court decision made Sacramento the legal capital of California.
  • Construction on the new state capitol building began in 1860 and was completed in 1874.
  • The building was designed by Reuben S. Clark and M.F. Butler.
  • The building is made of hard-burned brick with granite-faced lower floors.
  • The building features iron columns, Corinthian capitals, and large projecting porticoes.
  • The building houses the California State Legislature and the office of the governor.

Hi Tony, Sara,

Nice to meet and talk with you further this morning ...

Thanks for the great Santa Cruz hostel ...

Here's the incredible Peter Norvig article about MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch I mentioned sending you Tony -

Tony, let's brainstorm sometime about how best to sail from Canada / Washington state to the California Mexican border along the Pacific Ocean ... putting in at the nicest ports along the way, and even going ashore at beaches ... such as the Pt. Reyes National Seashore exploratorily ...

And how best to reach out to hostelers about free MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch degrees studying even while traveling ?
