Cactus wren: Stanford and MIT's Kurt VanLehn intelligent tutoring research revolutionizes teaching, Appreciated your emphasis earlier today in the IBM CSIG talk on cognitive agents/assistants in the group learning context (and re the “Assessment and Grading at WUaS as Part of Conversation in Learning” wiki subject at WUaS, Digitally-mediated group feedback/assessment as kinds of tutorials, Conference Method at WUaS (re Reed College's) and now digitally mediated

Thanks very much, Kurt!

Enjoyed your presentation today, as well as this article about you - http://fullcircle.asu.edu/faculty/kurt-vanlehn-intelligent-tutoring-research-revolutionizes-teaching/. To study at Stanford in the early 1970s must have been fascinating and mind expanding. I'd like to infuse both Stanford and MIT ethoses - and from the 1960s and 1970s - into wiki CC World University and School as we grow (in Google group video Hangouts for interactivity, and with Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and machine translation). CC WUaS plans to develop in CC Wikidata which is CC Wikipedia's developing database currently involving its ~358 languages.

Appreciated your emphasis earlier today in the IBM CSIG talk on cognitive agents/assistants in the group learning context (and re the “Assessment and Grading at WUaS as Part of Conversation in Learning” wiki subject at World University and School - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Assessment_and_Grading_at_WUaS_as_Part_of_Conversation_in_Learning). In what ways could you focus on specific populations in different languages, on MIT OCW high school resources, - and are you looking for classes of online students for experimentation (… especially concerning World University and School - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/)?

See too the beginning Mathematics' wiki subject for open teaching and learning - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Mathematics - with its MIT OCW courses, as well as the STEM wiki subject - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/STEM_Education_-_Science,_Technologies,_Engineering_and_Mathematics - both planned in all countries' main languages for online high school and university degrees, accrediting on CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC. Let's explore funding questions together.

(Might you have any plans for developing your learning system with brain wave headsets, say in 10 years for example? I wonder too how we might be able to operationalize your book's theses - https://mitpress.mit.edu/authors/kurt-vanlehn - for example. I've been in touch recently with MIT Ed Boyden and IBM's Aldis Sipolin, also an IBM CSIG speaker, about modeling the brain at the neuronal and nano levels, something WUaS is planning too). I also gave an IBM CSIG talk on an Universal Translator - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2016/05/fertilisation-ibm-csig-talk-05-may.html - not long ago.

I'm applying for a MIT Media Lab junior faculty position (and re your MIT Ph.D. and http://educationgroup.mit.edu/HHMIEducationGroup/?p=4018) both hopefully to develop World University and School, which is also planned for all 7,943+ languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning (as well as CC free online university and high school degrees in all ~204 countries' main and official languages), as well as to develop my actual / virtual Harbin Hot Springs' research - http://www.scottmacleod.com/ActualVirtualHarbinBook.html - and re making a STEM virtual Harbin/earth/cosmos as field site for actual / virtual comparison, in something like Google Street View (visit the Harbin Gate here, and 'walk' down the road to Middletown, California, in Google Earth ... http://tinyurl.com/p62rpcg) with OpenSimulator toward film realism, 3D, interactivity, group-building/coding, in all 8k languages and with avatars, and as WUaS "classrooms." Have you visited Harbin?

Re your FACT Centaur work as hybrid cognitive agents/assistants, I'm curious in general about avatar agency, and conceptually as avatars in OpenSim/SL become possibly autonomous - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/avatar%20agency

Re coming into conversation with, and thinking about, your talk, I wonder too, for example, whether 10 people in a Google group video Hangout will merge with/into a Google Street View / OpenSim virtual classroom, and become "centaurized" or "avatarized" in this virtual space - so part human and part coded virtual bot - and whether such teacher "centaurs" will be able to provide mathematics' feedback to student "centaurs," both in groups and individually, based on the work you shared today. (WUaS also plans to engage the conference method for teaching and learning - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning (re Reed College's approach to learning) - online and with A.I./machine learning with many parallels to the work you're operationalizing digitally, and invite matriculating students at WUaS to engage MIT OCW courese via the conference method, now online).

Thanks for a fascinating, timely and stimulating talk, Kurt, and I wonder how best to communicate further about all of this over time. You may be settled at ASU, but might you have interest too in becoming a faculty member at MIT - https://www.media.mit.edu/about/faculty-search?

Thank you.

Best regards, Scott
