Scott:

True, and most of their courses offer a certificate without a major degree like a free to students' Bachelor, PhD Law MD or IB high school - planned in each of 200 countries and in their official or main languages ... And WUaS as wiki seeks to facilitate free people to people universal education via open teaching and learning while MIT OCW remains open & freeing 4 languages (without degree or feedback like grades or conversation)

A Message from Anant Agarwal, edX Founder and CEO

@⁨Scott GK MacLeod⁩ my major problem is centralised network.
CEO and particular authority gives the instructions and commands like Anant for edX.

We need to create a peer-to-peer network for Education

A decentralised system, on the other hand, is one in which complex behaviour emerges through the work of lower level components operating on local information, *not the instructions of any commanding influence* . This form of control is known as *distributed control* , or control in which each component of the system is *equally responsible* for contributing to the global, complex behaviour by acting on local information in the appropriate manner. The lower level components are implicitly aware of these appropriate responses through mechanisms that are based on the component's interaction with the environment, including other components in that environment.

peer-to-peer like
denoting or relating to networks in which each computer can act as a server for the others, allowing shared access to files and peripherals without the need for a central server.

Scott:

Dear Anant, thank you for your messages ... Perhaps something like this from Phil Windley https://twitter.com/windley/status/1352258760085917697?s=19 could come into conversation with your great thinking. How to build this into You at WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - at this early stage of WUaS's wiki development and even anticipating or planning for all 7.8 billion people, could be a starting place to realize your thinking (and in Wikipedia's 300 languages via WUaS in WUaS OpenCura WikiBase Wikidata

Hoping they at edX are also focusing on student retention questions as they focus on quality ... Anant?

@⁨Scott GK MacLeod⁩ "Self Sovereign Internet"  What a words!!

@⁨Scott GK MacLeod⁩  Share some words about Phil Windley and your experiences with him

I think he has a PhD in computer science from UC Davis and lives in Utah presently where he's been working on self sovereign internet idea and other CS theory for decades ... Only know of him from Twitter, - and also possibly regarding a single cryptocurrency since Phil Windley knows Drummond Reed, whom I met at Stanford, also working in the cryptocurrency space and related CS IDEAS in Redmond Washington (and who went to Harvard and may know Bill Gates too)

Distributed internet are other amazing words. And Manuel Castells has explored societal & economic implications of this more remarkably than anyone http://globetrotter.berkeley.edu/people/Castells/castells-con0.html I teach ...

I teach a course, Castells' inspired on the Network Society, Information Technology, and the Global University
and may do so at WUAS this autumn for credit. May include Windley's thinking toward end of my course anew !

It's about social networks which process and manage information and are using micro-electronic based technologies.
