Hi Marjan, Neely and All,
Very nice to meet you this morning at Neely's and to share the Bahai'i "inspirationals". Thank you Neely for hosting this - and for bringing us all together.
Marjan, Is this the "lotus temple india bahai" - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Temple - which you mentioned? Looks like it's possible to visit the Lotus Temple virtually a little here - - https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lotus+Temple/@28.553492,77.2588264,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x653beb1ee85ec67a!8m2!3d28.553492!4d77.2588264 - but not fulsomely yet in a realistic interactive virtual earth with avatar bots (which I'm hoping to develop at World Univ & Sch). (Think Google Street View w time slider/Maps/Earth & at the cellular & atomic levels with Minecraft/SL/OpenSimulator too e.g. https://twitter.com/sgkmacleod/status/955218421267841024 ).
Here's the Farsi - Persian_language - wiki subject page / school at WUaS -
http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Persian_language - soon to be in Farsi and newly in Iran World University and School here in our new wiki - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Iran_(Islamic_Republic_of) - all in Farsi.
And it looks like Persian MIT OpenCourseWare actually does still exist - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/persian/ - but is no longer listed here - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - and I'm not sure why.
WUaS seeks to create major online universities in all ~200 nation states' official languages for free MIT OCW-centric wiki universities (and wiki schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,099 living languages).
Looking forward to staying in touch.

Saumitra, Neely, and all,
Thanks for your email, and the gathering.
Like Saumitra, I'm also a bit on the nontheistic side of things/life (re nontheist Friends/atheistic Quakers, for example), and re Yoga as well, and here's something about this re my "Hippy~angali Yoga Notations" - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/08/hippy-anjali-yoga-notations-ntf-talk.html.
Here too is the Desiderata - https://web.archive.org/web/20151224115933/http://www.cs.columbia.edu/~gongsu/desiderata_textonly.html - which I read yesterday, and in a kind of animation here ... https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2016/03/mbuna-animation-of-photo-of-max.html ... and here's a bit about Max Ehrmann - http://myweb.wvnet.edu/~jelkins/lp-2001/ehrmann.html - it's author, who studied law and philosophy at Harvard (so not Harvard Law).
Thanks again so much for the Bahai'i gathering yesterday, Neely (and Saumitra), and good people, all!
Love, peace, patience, and perseverance,
Scott

Hi Maboobeh, Neely, Saumitra and All,
Very nice to meet you this morning at Neely's and to share the Bahai'i "inspirationals" (is this a fair translation/synonmym of "devotionals" here) together.
Here's the gene therapy blog link I mentioned re "Wow" and FDA approved -
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/01/gene-therapy-for-rare-form-of-blindness.html.
Here's the beginning of http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Clinical_Trials_at_WUaS_(for_all_languages) before we move into our new wiki - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States - and grow this.
World University and School (WUaS) seeks to create major online universities in all ~200 nation states' official languages for free MIT OCW-centric wiki universities and Bachelor, Ph.D., law, MD and IB high school degrees (and wiki schools for open teaching and learning in all 7,099 living languages). Wikipedia is in 299 languages and MIT OCW in at least 5, by way of comparison.
Check out the "gene" label in my blog. I post daily here, much about WUaS.
Happy birthday, Saumitra!
Looking forward to staying in touch.

Hi M,
Wow - thanks for your email. Never sure that you get these, or what you do with them/how you read them/ if you read them :)
Interesting good Bahai'i gathering this morning with Neely in Berkeley. I met her and a fairly large gathering in her apt's living room through Saumitra / Gubito (Pin's cousin, whom I met with Pin recently, when Pin visited the SF Bay Area). Quite a few academics / Berkeley students. Bahai'i's have many roots in the Persian, Arabic and English languages among an attempt to create a unity religion (re sects) ... interesting ...
When I replied to Ken Thompson's invitation to Burns' night in Pgh that I couldn't come, Nancy Condee replied too:
"Count me in. I hear Ken is doing an interpretive dance accompanied by a Reggae version of “Address to the Haggis” this year. Very thoughtful, Ken. We look forward to the performance around 7.30 or so…"
And I replied: "This video is a trip, Nancy ...
https://youtu.be/ktiONWfSL48 ... not all is well in Russia or ... what a circus ... way beyond Cirque du Soleil? Thanks, Nancy and Ken!
Happy Robbie Burns' night,
Scott
https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States"
Do you know Nancy? Check out the video. I wonder if you could relate each scene to actual events in a kind of currently "crazed" Russia ...
Are the winds turning and picking up? We'll see ... no word yet from the MIT Media Lab about the faculty position I applied for ...
Glad my piping gig on Saturday was a success (funny category) ...

Scott

Hi dear Marjan, and All,
Likewise. I asked the 4 undergraduate students at Neely's on Sunday what the main languages of Bahai'i are, and one (either Nicka or Nicky, but not Mina or Sahar, I think :)) said that Bahai'i has a vision for an universal language. (She also mentioned that Bahai'i has no clergy, with many parallels with unprogrammed liberal Quakerism). I mentioned that there are 7,099 living languages in the world (https://www.ethnologue.com/) and wondered if many many Bahai'i speakers speak Farsi, Arabic and English .. and now re the Lotus Temple, and your having lived in New Dehli, India, and attended the Lotus Temple, whether Hindi would be one of the largest languages? Is it? Thanks for your email. World University and School seeks to create wiki schools for open teaching and learning in each of all 8,461 entries in languages (in http://glottolog.org/glottolog/language) and an universal translator as well - for STEM and poetry. WUaS is like Wikipedia in 299 languages with CC-4 MIT OCW in 7 languages, and is in Google Education with its 100+ languages and its TensorFlow AI software as part of this ecosystem, - and where all of these are building blocks. Here's what Google did in this ecosystem last year - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/955869186634407938 - per Jeff Dean, a senior engineer there.
Have you had any Bahai'i gatherings in Google group video Hangouts ever? I'm excited for the possibility of going from Hangouts to Youtube (also Google) into 3D interactive virtual worlds with avatar bots of you and I - and fantastical too (in something like Google Hangouts/Streetview/Maps/Earth with time slider and group build-able, in all 7,099 living languages).
I'm also curious how a realistic virtual earth with avatar bots will emerge as a digital history project. Re my actual virtual ethnographic book about creating a realistic virtual field site for anthropological comparison, there's an example of my emerging virtual Harbin Hot Springs' field site in Google Streetview - https://twitter.com/HarbinBook (top left link) - before it develops (and which is what my recent actual / virtual ethnographic book is about - http://bit.ly/HarbinBook). It's in such an environment that I think a digital history project is already emerging, and will grow.
Best regards, Scott

Hello, Scott, Saumitra, Marjan, and Mahboobeh --
Thank you so much for participating in the devotional gathering. It was great seeing you all.
Scott, thank you for the emails and links. I will check them out.
Saumitra, no worries. It was my pleasure and could take care of things myself.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday February 11 at 11 AM and the topic this time is Spiritual Sacrifice!
With love,
Neely

Hi Neely, and All,
Thanks so much for your lovely email.
New Age Bahai'i? Atheistic Bahai'i? and where would one connect with MIT Bahai'is or Stanford Bahai'is, or scientific/science Bahai'is (such as Maboobeh)?
Glad you enjoyed the Tarte, Saumitra - and HAPPY BIRTHDAY again! :)
Had emailed this to Saumitra, just before the gathering, and re "New Age" Bahai'i :
"Hi Gubito,
Running a bit late ... see you inside. :)

Good people: a bit concerned about religion per my blog post, Neely, and in agreement with Dawkins - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/08/hippy-anjali-yoga-notations-ntf-talk.html - but appreciating much our connecting and fellowship.
Warm regards, Scott

Hi Maboobeh, and all,
Re "Wow" and FDA approved -
Gene therapy for rare form of blindness, Wow! - "first gene therapy approved by the Food and Drug Administration in which a corrective gene is given directly to patients"
https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/01/gene-therapy-for-rare-form-of-blindness.html (this development comes out of the Johns Hopkins' STEM community I think) - I'm curious, as we talked a bit about at Neely's, how an interactive bio-engineering oriented realistic virtual earth, at the cellular and atomic levels too, will emerge for experimentation and clinical trials for pharmaceuticals, for example, in all 7,099 living languages (e.g. for rare diseases), and how this will lead to asking all of these STEM questions in completely new ways, since this will all be coded for. CRISPR Cas9 gene editing may be one example of a tiny part of such a realistic virtual universe (since there are between 3 and 100 million species on earth, for example). Here again are the beginnings of http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Clinical_Trials_at_WUaS_(for_all_languages) before we move into our new wiki - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States - and grow this at WUaS.
Where are you or is Roche that you've seen heading in the direction of virtual pharmaceuticals and research (since so much is already computerized) if you'd like to share the big picture that you see in these regards?
Best regards, Scott
