Hey Scott, can you explain to me:
  1. your proposal for a “new WUaS wiki”
  2. The concept of “STEM” centric
  3. wiki school concept -- in such a way, that it will make sense to even a layperson (like me).
I think I follow the OER concept and the Creative Commons notions and The MIT OpenCourseWare project, credited for having sparked a global Open Educational Resources Movement after announcing in 2001 that it was going to put MIT's entire course catalog online and launching the project in 2002.
Thanks for this Scott.  You’re right, it is nice to be in-touch with another kindred spirit.
Cheers, Alan

Hi Alan,

Good questions.

1. The new CC WUaS wiki is planned in CC Wikidata. Wikidata (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Main_Page) is the inter-lingual database written for CC Wikipedia's 300 languages and is developing with machine learning and artificial intelligence. See the WUaS MediaWiki/Wikidata/Wikibase planned interface here -  https://web.archive.org/web/20150324001526/http://worlduniversityandschool.org/mediawiki-1.24.1/index.php?title=Main_Page (accessible from here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/) - for a beginning view of WUaS's new wiki front end (which isn't working yet).

2. STEM refers to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and is at the core of CC MIT OpenCourseWare's 2300 courses in English - http://ocw.mit.edu/index.htm - and in MIT OCW's 6 other languages - http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/ - (having between 20 and 100 courses each). WUaS plans to accredit on CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC - http://oyc.yale.edu - for planning purposes, and so is STEM centric in this way.

3. WUaS is planning for each language (7,938+ languages) to be a wiki school for open teaching and learning. This SUBJECT TEMPLATE  - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - is the basis for these schools, as well as the planned universities in most countries' languages. This template will develop and fork and evolve with databases, but it's the main idea.  Think a Wikipedia page as a parallel.

What's great about these open wiki schools is that you or I or anyone can become a teacher simply by teaching something to our web cameras on Youtube or creating a course, and then wiki add this!

You'll find more resources about these in these two blogs -
http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com
http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com

Check again the main - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - to see how all of the above will fit together, and please let me know of other questions you might have.

Best,
Scott
