Age reversal remains unproven. Yet that is the goal of the healthspan XPRIZE pretty much. The purse is $81 million to the team able "restore" the cognitive & physical function of a person by 20 years, after 1 year of treatment. Finalists to be announced this summer

Thanks so much for your email here -

"We are also perpetually seeking speakers/presenters pursuing research engaging ethnography and online/digitally-mediated environments, in case that might be of interest"

- and for posting further about the Digital Ethnography summer course on June 3, 2026 on the MediaAnthro email ICT (and see the PPPS).

I just went into the US Passport office in San Francisco, and asked about getting a passport and to travel to Great Britain and to give a talk in the Oxford University Anthropology department for this Digital Ethnography course, sometime between Mondays' June 29th and August 31st; (my US passport was stolen more than a decade ago, I think, and by my former landlord in Canyon 94516 where I lived for 13 years until September 2020, 6 months into the SARS CoV2 lockdown pandemic in the US, and into which - 670 Ridgecrest Rd, Canyon 94516 - I and the WUaS Academic Medical Center continue to seek to move fully further into, with me being based out of Canyon 94516 presently, about 8 miles from Berkeley). Getting a US passport on relatively short notice, per what I learned, involves calling a US Passport 800 number to set up an appointment in SF 2 weeks before I am scheduled to depart, and then purchasing the plane ticket so I that I have it in hand when I go into the US Passport office in SF to pick it up.

Might I come and speak in person to your Oxford Digital Ethnography summer course class please, and about some aspect of my Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic book projects, and possibly regarding some antecedents in making a virtual Harbin Hot Springs as ethnographic field site, and see -

Aphilo Scott MacLeod The Making of Virtual Harbin Introduction

(this is/was on Harvard's virtual island)

(and I also started to make a virtual Harbin Hot Springs on the American Anthropological Association's 'Anteater Island" in the 3D group buildable virtual world of Second Life some years ago)

- and to  making digital field sites too with voice with Google AI studio (https://aistudio.google.com/), and see too - https://g.co/gemini/share/3b85d8ae06ba - or similar (with relevance for Oxford archaeologists and museum-ologists too) ... and possibly re some theoretical readings of Harbin as counterculture re sociocultural anthropological and ethnographic concepts of culture, and regarding Harbin's Heart Consciousness Church HCC too? (I could also talk about or from the first chapter in "Naked Harbin Ethnography," for example, or about ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy and see the PPPPPS). And if so, what would or might be a good date to schedule this per your syllabus, and regarding how the course is developing these 2 1/2 weeks before the Oxford Digital Ethnography summer course begins on Monday, June 29, 2026? And might I be able to find lodging or a room at Oxford University for this potentially please?

And brainstorming, were I to come and give this talk in your Digital Ethnography summer course, might we also explore talking about developing England World University and School (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/England) and France World University and School and India World University and School  too (from https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States), building on CC-4 licensed MIT OCW in 7 languages for free WUaS degrees (and see the PPPPS), but with reimbursement from these countries' Ministries of Education along the lines of what it costs to matriculate at MIT / Harvard / Stanford (about $65.000 per year) for the rich countries - and with Oxford University institutional collaboration? A realistic virtual Harbin Hot Springs as a digital ethnographic field site, and a realistic virtual earth for field sites, both Social Science and STEM field sites, as well as World University and School in all 200 countries could become real assets for Oxford University.

Thanks so much, best regards,
Scott

Dear All,

I have been asked to circulate information about the following course, offered remotely (via MS Teams), which may be of interest to doctoral and/or advanced research students anywhere in the world:

Oxford Lifelong Learning (Department of Continuing Education, University of Oxford), is offering a summer short course, Digital Ethnography, which will run Monday, 29th June – Monday, 31st August 2026. The main aims of the course, which is targeted to doctoral and/or advanced research students in the social sciences, is to equip participants with skills in digital research methods for purposes of advancing their own research objectives and to familiarise them with key research themes and issues, as well as related academic literature. Participants also conceive, develop and undertake (with guidance) a small-scale, independent, hands-on digital research project over the duration of the course, the results of which are presented for discussion in the final session.

The course is offered free to students enrolled in an Oxford award-bearing DPhil (PhD) programme when the course starts and at a reduced fee for students enrolled in an award-bearing postgraduate programme at Oxford (or any other higher educational institution) when the course begins. For further details and/or to enrol, please visit the course website at the above link.

Please note that there are just a few places remaining on this summer’s course.

All best regards,

Bill Kelly
