Surprise birthday this April 2nd for Janie MacLeod at Longwood
Dear Janis, Jessie, Jean, Sue, Ann, Susan, Chris Michaels, Ken and Nick Thompson, other of my mother's friends too!,
Greetings! My mother's birthday is this Sunday, April 2, and she'll be 88 (I think). I'm writing to invite you to a surprise birthday party in the works :). I'm hoping to create this surprise birthday for her in her home at Longwood around 4 or 5pm on Sunday, 4/2/23. She and I, and possibly my brother too, as another part of this surprise birthday party, will likely be coming back from that Unitarian Frank Lloyd Wright designed-place near Ohiopyle, Falling Water, around 3:30 or 4 or so, and it would great to have surprise happen as we return, or something like that.
I've invited my brother, Sandy, too to fly in from Portland, Maine, as her big surprise, but don't know if he'll come yet (and see communications below). If we make it a complete surprise, Sandy might be staying with me not far from our old house on 319 Juniata Court, 15208 ... and would be the first part of the surprise, as I/we might drive out to Longwood on Sunday morning to pick up my mother to head out for a walk and lunch at Falling Water, and surprise her dramatically in a fun way then.
Upon my mother's and my return, I'd love for her other possible big surprise party to happen - in her home at Longwood if possible (but am not sure what yet to do if she locks her front door these days).
Might you all be available to join in and come to this surprise birthday for my mother, Janie? This is all still in development, and at this point the surprises are the thing, so please don't let on to Janie about this - 'mums the word' - and, if you can, please RSVP, and let me know if you might be able to join this "Janie MacLeod Surprises' Birthday Party."
Aging reversal genetic drug therapies emerging, perhaps we can celebrate many many more surprise birthday parties ahead (even in the centuries?:)
Happy birthday to Janie MacLeod!
Warm regards, Scott
(For many many more birthday parties potentially -
Hi Sandy, (Tym),
Good morning! How are you? I called you last night to invite you to a surprise birthday party for Ma on Sunday - and with you as the surprise potentially too, Sandy:) Would you be able to come, say on Friday March 31, departing on Monday April 3 or similar? I think Ma would love it if you were her birthday surprise, Sandy! (Tym and I have been texting a bit about this, below - and since this past weekend was his father's 89th birthday - and I think it will be Ma's 88th birthday April 2 - if she, born on 4/2/35 was one in 1936).
Sandy, I'd get you the ticket, and one possibility for your sleeping here for a surprise birthday for Ma would be to sleep on my 3-Fold Mattress here at 210 East End avenue Pgh PA 15221.
Hugs, Scott
Tym -
Hi Scott! Big weekend with my dad's 89th birthday and lots of family in town. Festivities are just winding down. Could not get out for a hike. Hope you enjoyed Coopers Rock and continue to explore the area around you. Great for the soul! Let me know when you are game to meet up!
Scott -
Sounds fun, Tym! You inspire me to invite my brother Sandy to town for my mother's 88th birthday next Sunday! Thank you! Took about a 6 mile hike today at Cooper's Rock in WV ... Great for the soul in a variety of ways! very little sensation from cyst ... Maybe Saturday, April 8 for meeting up for a hike somewhere? Happy birthday to your Dad! (Perhaps our parents will benefit from the following, and retweeting the upcoming Stanford Drug Discovery Symposium, Hugs, Scott -
Scott -
Tym! just called my brother to invite him to be the surprise for my mother's birthday next weekend (but am not sure what's up with him, at all) ... but don't think that meeting up this Saturday April 1st will work for a hike in MD or PA or WV (if he comes to Pgh) ... and Sunday is my mother's birthday ... and with a birthday planned at Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water" ... and besides my brother's possibly coming to Pgh, I may also seek to invite a number of her friends, many of whom live where she does to be the surprise - say at 4 or 5 pm at her place for a 2nd birthday celebration after Falling Water (if the weather holds, per my mother's comment) ... She's been through a lot in recent years ... even a possible genetic weapon attack ... so thanks for the inspiration for celebrating her birthday! xo, Scott
Tym -
That's great! Hope you can throw down a wonderful surprise party for her and that your brother shows up. That would probably make your mom very happy!

Scott-
I am hopeful that I can come to celebrate your mother. Will you confirm the time when it gets closer to Sunday? We could maybe do the "surprise" as a greeting committee with signs and streamers in the driveway/parking lot.

Scott, I have a suggestion. How about if I have the guests gather at my house. I’ll have wine and snacks here and you can bring your mother here whenever you get back. That way, there’s no absolute time required for the surprise and we don’t have to get into her house. If you’re late or early it won’t matter.

Janis, that sounds great! Thank you so much. I'll plan to pack a concealed cake and maybe we can surprise her at your place, and then wander over to her place or not for further festivities on Sunday. (Was wondering how I was going to orchestrate a surprise for her upon return from Falling Water, and you've solved this. Sandy my brother won't be coming from Maine). Thanks again, Scott

So great to hear RSVP from many of you! I was wondering how I'd orchestrate a surprise birthday for my mother at Longwood coming back from Falling Water on Sunday, and Janis has kindly offered to host this surprise birthday party at her place. Janis writes:

Hi, Susan, Ann, Peter & Sue, Jean, Chris, Lillian, Kathie, Ken, Nick, Jessie, Janis, (other friends of my mother, Janie MacLeod), all,
Thanks so much for your RSVPs and your organizing this Janis further! Susan had suggested a surprise for her in the parking lot of Longwood - but I'm not sure how we can get to the 'TOTAL SURPRISE BIRTHDAY' party, either in the parking lot, Susan, or in your home, Janis! Even if we can get back from Falling Water at Longwood very close to 4:30 on Sunday, and park near your 18 Garden Ct., such that we'd have to walk by your place, Janis, to get to my mother's 27 Garden Ct, ... well maybe we could try to make this work ... I'll see if we can walk by your front window Janis after we park ... and perhaps someone can all be glancing out the window to see when we arrive, and we walk past your door, you can all surprise her ... (am not sure about confetti:) ...
More planning in the works ... Thanks, again, Janis!
And please invite other of her friends, if people come to mind. (My brother Sandy will not be flying in this year from Portland Maine as her big surprise :)
Happy birthday to my mother on Sunday, and mum's the word :), Scott

Scott,
Just tell her I’m expecting you to stop here for a drink. I can mention it to her, too.
We will all be inside sitting around and visiting. Whenever you get here, just come straight to my house and knock. I’m sure just walking and seeing the group will be a nice surprise.
You can send me a text when you get close, if you want.

Good thinking, Janis - may do so however at the very very last moment since surprise birthdays are fun, and the more unexpected the more fun they can be ... that's my hope here at least ... Thank you so much for the good idea and will see how it plays out - Scott

Hi, Susan, Ann, Peter & Sue, Jean, Chris, Lillian, Kathie, Ken, Nick, Jessie, Janis, (other friends of my mother, Janie MacLeod), all,
Happy Birthday to my mother tomorrow! Hoping for the surprise to play a role, and Janis had a good suggestion (below) which I may riff with - to say, after my mother and I get back, from Falling Water to Longwood, that I'd like to pick up something Scottish from Janis's home which Janis and I have been emailing about, as a pretext for me to get out of the car too, around 4:30 pm - and for the surprise potentially (if my mother still doesn't know about this surprise - but I realize she may know about this Longwood birthday for her already).

All,
Happy Birthday to Janie MacLeod this afternoon at 4:30 at Longwood -
Here's a party favor -
I am sending you 1π! Pi is a new digital currency developed by Stanford PhDs, with over 35 million members worldwide. To claim your Pi, follow this link
https://minepi.com/sgkmac and use my username (sgkmac) as your invitation code.
It's Stanford Mine Pi coins - about 5-6 of them - which you'd mine every 24 hours, taking less than five seconds, clicking 2 buttons, and which then accumulate in your Pi App ... toward infinity. (One can't YET buy things with Pi coins, but when you can, these party favors may be fun for you then too:)
See you soon,
Scott
And I can show you my ~5,200 Pi coin accumulation later today on the robust Stanford Mine Pi App, if interested, in seeing how it works beforehand.
* *
Happy Birthday to your mom! Hope the party goes superbly and surprisingly!

Hi Ma, Happy birthday! Fun to celebrate with you in at least 5 different places. Hoping the Ozark extendible well-designed hiking poles, "Let's dig it" cards, and beautiful hand-made paper covered journal come in handy one way or another too! Love, Scott (https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2023/04/mountain-laurel-surprise-birthday-this.html)
The flowers you gave me are beautiful too, and holding up well, Ma! They aren't using much water in their ongoing circulatory process (even once cut)! ... Would love to give such flowers to my life partner wife to be ... and for grandkids for you as another BIG birthday present (and thanks also for the yummy homemade ginger bread from Peg)! Love, abolition-ally, and hopefully with many many birthdays for my kids and your grandkids ahead! Love, Scott
Big thanks to Janis for the birthday gathering for my mother in her place, and
More birthday celebrations ahead! :) - Scott
