Harvard "Pre-Columbian Archaeology Seminar" ~ Peruvian Archaeological field site into a Realistic Virtual Earth too?

Dear Sarah, Amy A, Amy Clark, William, Diana, Harvard Archaeology, All,

Thanks so much for your reply this morning, Sarah! And thanks too for your timely, topical and edifying Harvard Archaeology talk - https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/event/pre-columbian-archaeology-seminar-talk-sarah-kennedy. Am glad to be developing a related anthropological conversation further and potentially regarding in a single realistic virtual earth for STEM (e.g. including geology). Regarding a realistic virtual earth for archaeology (think Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlowAI and with realistic avatar bots of animal species too), and your thinking that "making this data available to other people (whether archaeologists or just anyone wanting to dig or build) is a great idea," part of the idea is 'ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy' (http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy) ... with developing licensing, AI and machine learning too. Too bad there aren't yet many CC-4 ocw.mit.edu courses in Peru World Univ & Sch - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Peru (planned in its languages) - let alone in its official, main or all of its languages, or in the archaeology wiki subject at WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Archaeology - planned in all 200 countries' main languages too.

Part of CC-4 OCW.MIT.EDU -centric wiki World Univ & Sch's envisioning - in thinking Google Street View with time slider - includes adding all museums, and all libraries ever, to this single realistic virtual earth for everything, and in all 7,139 known living languages, and in extinct languages too, with avatar bots we might interact and converse with. Adding and building will happen further via photos, videos, and not yet made #FilmTo3D app ('landing' in Google Street View with a time slider with its TensorFlowAI - e.g. for 3D printing of artifacts), and also at the cellular and molecular levels (with #FilmTo3D App developed for microscopes too). Archaeological digs of the past and in the future, say of the library of Alexandria (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Library_of_Alexandria - and could we even begin to talk with so-called Alexander the Great iteratively as avatar bot, read and find all the books in the library at the time about him, and also access all artifacts then and now via "Google Street View with time slider" idea?) and adding these artifacts and resources to a realistic virtual earth for archaeology would integrate digitally with all museums and all libraries in a single realistic virtual earth. Coming into conversation with Harvard's libraries and museums, as well as the Carleton College Digital Humanities Center folks you suggest would be great in all of these regards, and especially regarding growing and scaling with excellence.

'Fidelity' of data is a fascinating question, and for archaeologists especially with your own history, I'd think - & re the Google Street View with time slider with TensorflowAI with licensing and building on Google's approach even to personnel & identity questions, and with federal, state and international law (re ~200 countries at WUaS, each a major online university with ~200 online law schools in their main languages), and also regarding World Univ & Sch's eventual hiring, and getting started financially. Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records for archaeological remains, especially of non-human species, would be especially relevant when these information technologies might somehow interoperate with Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records for all 7.9 billion people on the planet (and even brainstorming-wise in planning for tele-robotic surgery, beginning exploratorily too with Lego Robotics' kits:), in ~200 countries, each a Wikidata Pin# (which WUaS is planning) ... all ginormous data projects especially.

Anthropologically, and in terms also of  'ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy,' and my adding just 3 photos - the Harbin Gate House, the swimming pool, and Harbin temple - of my Physical-Digital Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnographic field site, (which photos and related thinking you'll find here - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/11/owens-peak-wilderness_02004565726.html and below) - to Street View, Maps, where two of these photos in this developing VIRTUAL HARBIN HOT SPRINGS (swimming pool, and temple), are BEHIND an invisible Google Street View wall making it difficult at this stage to begin to 'walk into' or 'swim in' them virtually online, but which may become possible at a later date - if people can begin to visit virtual Harbin Hot Springs, and for soaking, and for unfolding actual-virtual ethnographic research especially. In some of these regards, here too are 5 talks I've given in the UC Berkeley Anthropology department since 2012 about my Actual-Virtual, Physical-Digital Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnography Project - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2020/12/doubledays-hummingbird-cynanthus.html

Not Foucault's panopticon (guard tower in a prison yard with one-way glass) for maintaining order (and an image of the top of the Twitter building in SF just popped up on my Google Smart TV, as one current possible embodiment of this idea), Google platforms, and Google Street View with time slider, will I think, make a good developing IT Virtual Reality platform for fidelity of data, as well as visiting your Peru archaeology site on the western shore of Lake Titicaca, and my developing Physical-Digital Harbin Hot Springs too (also in digital masks, and in multimedia rooms, with 4 MIT Media Lab light bulbs in the corners of a room, and 4 Planetarium projector lamps/cameras on the sides, brainstorming).

Yes, let's do communicate further about all of this and also regarding even Blockchaining single molecules (amazing to have digitized single molecules), so at the molecular level, per Harvard Medical School's George Church's recent Twitter post which you'll find here -

  https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1489304879021498374.

Shall we meet in a Monday WUaS News and Q&A with your Digital Humanities Center folks - some upcoming Monday? Perhaps I can explore showing you around Google Street View with a time slider in front of the Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnographic field site in some of these regards, if possible in Zoom ... and if only to 'walk' down the Harbin road a spell toward Middletown CA in this addable-to realistic virtual earth.  The WUaS News and Q&A meets at 10am Pacific Time in Zoom these days, or we could meet another time too in a group video conference. Or shall we best develop this conversation further via email? What would you suggest?

Thanks again for your email, Sarah, and looking forward to growing a realistic virtual earth for archaeology together with all of you!

All the best,

Scott

Amy A,

any chance to involve your Harvard MLA program in Anthropology and Archaeology in some of this too -

I've heard / learned that Archaeologists can be real 'gear heads' and you'll find a great image here (that Colleen Morgan with UC Berkeley PhD, but now a lecturer at the Univ of York, posted -

Dear Scott,
Thank you for your email. I think your idea about making this data available to other people (whether archaeologists or just anyone wanting to dig or build) is a great idea. I think there should be some open-source platform for this in the future - and something like Google Street View would likely be the most accessible. It would be an interesting question to see how you would be able to maintain fidelity in the data, as it is (hopefully) being added and uploaded by many different people around the world.

Maybe my Digital Humanities Center folks could help me brainstorm something?

Thank you again for the email.
Best,
Sarah Kennedy

Dear Sarah, Amy Clark, William, Diana, Amy Arsenault,

Greetings from the SF Bay Area, and nice to e-meet you. Here are the questions I asked in your
"Pre-Columbian Archaeology Seminar: Out of the Mine and Into the Furnace: Life and Labor in the Silver Refineries of Colonial Peru, a talk by, Sarah Kennedy (Carleton College)" -https://anthropology.fas.harvard.edu/event/pre-columbian-archaeology-seminar-talk-sarah-kennedy - talk just now:

Thank you, Sarah - and especially for your focus on archaeological digging safety, in Peru +!
Brainstorming Physical-Digital information technology question:
how might we import, for example, portable x-ray fluorescence spectrometry results into ... Google Street View with time slider Maps Earth TensorFlowAI with realistic Avatar Bots even as electronic medical records for archaeologists, at the cell and molecular level too?

I'm interested in creating a

#RealisticVirtualEarthForArchaeology (and in 1 realistic virtual earth for everything too - think again Google Street View with time slider, Earth, TensorFlowAI)

https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForArchaeology?src=hashtag_click

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1327687916143865856

... and even with robotics, beginning with Lego robotics for experimentation -

Thanks, Scott MacLeod sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org and World Univ & Sch like MIT OCW in 4 languages with Wikipedia in 300 languages is seeking to facilitate 1 realistic virtual earth for geology too, for example.

Thank you, Sarah, and Harvard Archaeology! (Here’s the beginning archaeology wiki subject / school at World Univ & Sch - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Archaeology - planned potentially in each of all 7,139 known living languages, and also in ‘extinct’ languages, accessible too from - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects - and where MIT OCW doesn’t have much courseware in archaeology. Could there be an opportunity for Harvard Archaeology here too? Thank you!

Please let me know what you think!

All the Best,
Scott
