I have quite a few openings on Monday and Tuesday—then I’ll be gone for two weeks, making early December the next option. On Monday, after 3pm would be best, though I could also do before 11. On Tuesday, before noon or between 3-5. Early December is wide open.

Following up on your MIT Comparative Global Humanities' conference presentation, and its touching on biological evolution, and cultural evolution, I'm interested in the idea (again) of the 'meme' (replicating cultural unit is one def), and which cultural evolution (https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/evolution-cultural/) never seems to be too far from.

Mana, an excellent point. Institution is actually one one mode of transmission. I look at oral transmission for example. As for the gender dimension: women are crucial in the transmission of culture. It’s one reason, for example, why I’m interested in salons (my example is a chapter focused on Madame Geoffrin).

Olga’s presentation brings to mind a fascinating memoir by a teenaged Polynesian, which is perhaps the first book written (or at any rate, translated and published in the USA) by a Polynesian woman: Florence Frisbie’s “Miss Ulysses from Puka-Puka: The autobiography of a South Sea Trader’s Daughter.” For our purposes, note in particular the Homeric framing, based on her sense of herself as a latter-day South Seas Odysseus. She was only 15 when she wrote this, in a mixture of English, Rarotongan, and Pukapukan; it was then translated and edited by her father, and published in 1946. Still going strong at age 85, Frisbie published a new edition in 2016, with a preface emphasizing her hope, first, that her book will inspire other Polynesian writers, and second, will enhance global awareness of the problem of rising sea levels.

Appreciating your thinking, Jim, about IT SAFETY. 

With aging reversal genetic drug therapies emerging (if), am seeking for all of us to live a very long time, especially my mother and brother. Condolences that your mother has passed away. My father came back from Belize on a Semester at Sea winter trip with a serious brain injury in 2004 and died in 2007, so am continuing to learn from this and be careful (he was a high achiever and risk taker too) ... As well as to circulate in seeking to begin a family (with a wonderful MD in her mid 20s? whom I connect with naturally), and potentially for 3 or so kids. 

Besides Harbin Ethnography book #2 (potentially writing it in Google Street View with Time Slider, text in the sidebar, and translating it into many languages with translate, and also working on my 2nd Scottish Small Pipes' album, this one of Piobaireachd classical music, and practicing Yoga), Work CC-4 MIT OCW-CENTRIC wiki World University and School's near term goals prior to moving forward with languages' technology (in 2026-2028 per you, but before too) develop daily in blog and monthly in WUaS Monthly Business Meeting - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/Ceropegia%20stapeliiformis%20Minutes%20for%20101621a%20W.html . Glad that the WUaS CORPORATION took a big step forward this past week (below & thank you, Larry). Planning to code for all the people on planet, in all our 7k languages, brainstorming wise is already beginning as you may have read.

Appreciating walks nevertheless in this ongoing time of alienation from the coronavirus pandemic self-quarantine for their connection ... And will also leave smartphone behind at times, along the safe road I live on up to the UU CHURCH OF KENSINGTON, for example, and in state parks, for the benefits of getting out easily and readily (writing to paper for example while walking).

Exploring the possibility of heading to the Harvard Smartphone's Symposium for 11/5/21 and making contact with the Boston Globe for WUaS too, if at all possible. An invitation from Harvard, while living in a 'safe house' - and calling for abolition - would make life less alienating, more safe re my whistle blowing, and open horizons in many ways.

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the concise email regarding your goals in life.  Arranged marriages are still common in India, but not sure where else.  Do Quakers do arranged marriages? I need to read more about Quakers.  I grew up in Maine, and the Shakers did not believe they should pro-create (I think), but wonder if they had marriage.  So many questions.  Personally not big on life extension technologies - just don't have the time (pun intended) - but at the end of this video Steve Jurvetson provides some interesting views on why VCs are seeking to invest in it.

I am more an occasional 1-1 emailer, but I try to read all incoming messages - just not always able to respond - hope you understand.  You do so many things, it is sometimes hard for me to follow everything, but I do see you as a "go-getter/kind person" with all you do.  Sometimes it is hard to focus on one goal, but I do hope you find a kind and loving wife, and you take good care of each other.

Will keep looking for technologies that can help you on your WUaS mission -  that is a moonshot whose time will come. I can only imagine what it would be like to learn everything from a Cherokee language perspective.  Facebook does great harm when they amplify falsehoods, fear, and anger, but they are gathering datasets that anthropologists may find fascinating.  If Facebook could do less harm, they might make a good ally for cross-cultural learning.  Travel is the best way to learn and appreciate other cultures, and stop fear and hatred.  The pandemic has made travel harder, and fear has grown as a result.

Stay safe.  The next few weeks are super busy for me, and I may not have time to keep up with all incoming emails.  Hope you understand.  Will jump in with thoughts when I can.

Appreciating the brilliance of your reply, and its kindness especially. Wow! - and knowing you now for around a decade. In my late teens and my twenties too, had thought and talked about (exploring this idea for me too) arranged marriages - but appreciate my mother's thinking about connecting naturally. Hoping to meet and connect with a loving bliss neurophysiology kind friend (perhaps learning from 2 past mutual loves in particular). Am reading your email also as a kind of helpful mentoring.

Seeking to grow datasets for perhaps Avatar Bots (and re their or WUaS's Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records for 7.8 billion people) but culturally (alternative culture too) re actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' project ... Where people are sharing much of what they are doing thinking feeling their culture in language ... Twitter which is an Ally in your sense (and seems to have coded for some forms of integrity in communication) could be great for WUaS to collaborate further with, since they are in multiple languages, they have a fairly large user base, - and am appreciating the new conversations they're rolling out.

What is technological determinism?
"Technological determinism is a reductionist theory that assumes that a society's technology determines the development of its social structure and cultural values."

There are two general frameworks and hypotheses that frame these questions, revolving around technological determinism questions -

The first says that Technology shapes us through forming information 'structures' in society.

In piping, Ceol Mor ('music big' in Scots' Gaelic) is the classical bagpiping music, Piobaireachd, and Ceol Beag (music little') ... all with different accent marks, and spelling too ... and again Ceol Beag is the Light Music (in a Quaker sense too, somehow, regarding your Dad? :) ... Just found these beaches, with related names (to these two forms of piping) on the Isle of Lewis (but which are not a new 3rd form or genre of piping I'm seeking to create called "Piobaireachding the Blues" :) ... and these names remind me a lot of places in JRR Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings' " trilogy ... and am learning just a bit more of Scots' Gaelic in all of this, but haven't been able to look inside my own bodymind, deeply, Yoga-wise, to SEE how these words are newly encoded in my genes, or even the structure of language in our genetics ... may go Tao-ist-ly (wu wei, or non-action, in meditation, too) deeper :) :)

One further thought per you last paragraph or so re cultural data sources for large numbers of individuals for their own Avatar Bots even ...

The idea for a realistic virtual earth for Anthropology with realistic avatars representing real people ( at times) ...fantastical too - eventually perhaps becoming free digital avatar agents even, possibly which code could inform robots too (but also as digital twins for tele-robotic surgery per Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records) is ...

One where we can add video of people speaking and acting, making art or designing computer chips etc ... And code would transpose this into Avatar Bots ... So potentially we could have all 1.3 Billion people in India each their own further build-able  avatars (with adding more video of an avatar (think in Street View with Time Slider too - as Pegman' grows ) ... And think group build-able cartoon-esque Second Life too with its avatar templates ... and group build-able islands and water and hair and sandboxes for playing with building ... Where avatar Bots also have 'voice' (where you and I' and can speak with each other from anywhere we are in the world) ... But with what other already cultural existing  data sources, and where will this data be stored ? Twitter, Google's ?

And re ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ...with Harbin folks even (and anyone) building realistic virtual Harbin/earth in Street View with Time Slider, in whatever ways they code or create (much more open platform than sort of easily group build able   SL) and decades into the future  ... I don't know if Twitter's feeds or profiles could inform very well historical thinking for eventual, speaking, communicating avatars ...but it could be a possible starting place ... And with something similar from Gmail and (closed now) G Plus perhaps ... If an individual agreed they wanted initial scripts for their talking avatars to, continuously developing, and informing their own realistic Avatar's neural developments  ... With a language focus ...

And I decided to explore walking this evening again with smartphone on ... And make inferences about possible tracking etc ... A few inferences came to mind about possibles ... (And the other evening I turned phone off and walked here ... With other inferences ... And wonder about an signal emitter in smartphone even when powered off) ...re electronic shield bag ...

What is going on with this? Why aren't the American people resistant (20 months into the Coronavirus pandemic, now worn down a bit .? I am more a 1-1 emailer than a phone call person.  When I do send to many people, I usually Bcc them all.

Regarding mail, have you signed up for "informed delivery"?  It is a free service, and you get an image scan of the outside of mail heading to you, and then you can check if it arrives safely later that same day.  Highly recommend you get it, and monitor for any differences.

Aluminum foil or any conductor works to shield your smartphone from tracking by cell-towers which are everywhere these days.  In case of an emergency, we are always glad to have the cell towers everywhere.  However, when not an emergency, you are sharing your location and movement datasets with organizations that you may not wish to know where you are.  It is a personal choice item, since most people are not very concerned about this.

Fortunately, I get out a couple times a day for hiking.  On this morning's early hike (4:45-5:15am) saw Orion's belt clearly in the western sky.  My wife and son (31 years old) go on afternoon hikes with me, and we have lively discussions about many topics.  Also, I have many email discussions each day, following up on ISSIP business mostly.  Later today, I am giving a zoom talk to an entrepreneurship master class at Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand. Enjoy mentoring early career people, and finding out what's on their minds.  Continuing to make progress on my next book, "Service in the AI Era" - so all good here.  If anything, maybe a little too "busy" !

Don't know much about the sex industry, other than it is huge.  What is legal and illegal seems to vary by country.  However, similar to your interest in life extension, I know precious little about these topics. 

On the topic of CBDC - that is something that I have a growing interest in, as it seems that is the key to UBI, with everyone getting a bank account and investment in stock market, etc. becoming much more straightforward for everyone.  CBDC/UBI relates to my primary interest - service science and the study of service system entities, which are responsible entities (people, businesses, nations) learning to invest more systematically in becoming "better" future versions of themselves.  Service Innovation Roadmaps (SIRs) can help entities learn to co-invest better.

Am not entirely clear what to do, for example, regarding Cuttyhunk, with potentially ('scofflaw'?) AirBNB rental thinking in the air, in these regards. More of a progressive federal law enforcement presence on Cuttyhunk, distributed across the island? Is there a legal and regulatory opportunity with regards to the abolition here ... that could benefit states' bottom lines significantly in all of this too? Nation states' too? Could one make the argument that it was Christianity that was the most successful religion in the abolition of slavery? Could the same be true with abolishing the illegal sex industry as slavry (or slavery)?

Hi Scott, Yes, my mother Arlene was Unitarian.  When she visited here, I think the San Jose church she attended had been built around a live oak tree, which was kind of neat.  Not sure, but that is what I recall - it was quite a while back.  Great the WUaS can play a role in abolition, as Quaker's did for making slavery illegal in the USA.  Just got back from an afternoon walk with my wife Diane, and son (31) Adam, and now have to get busy on my next presentation. Thanks for the update. You're walk sounds great. My parents, as I think I've written to you before, met and married in the UU Church of Cincinnati, in 1957. But as a Friend, who in retrospect justice-wise should have done due diligence legally about the SF QUAKERs and Meeting, and the UU Church of Palo Alto, and having been assaulted in the SF QUAKER Meeting (as I was whistle blowing), and accosted in the UU Church of Pgh, both sexually, haven't been able to do due diligence successfully about another related group. Glad my mother finds meaning in Unitarians. Not sure how I'll meet and connect with a life partner and friend, with whom to begin a family, but continue to circulate, cautiously and safely. (I think I've shared some of these things with you before). Glad World University and School may be able to further abolition of various aspects of crime, but this will take time and care. Thanks and glad you found a partner with whom to begin a family. As I may have mentioned, I've explored the idea of arranged marriages when I was in my teens and twenties, but since this didn't happen, I am appreciating my mother's suggestion of circulation to connect naturally, and would do so perhaps in Europe in the spring, if I seek asylum there (due to my whistle blowing). Women relate differently from California compared with say, Europe (where I've lived four separate years, for 3 1/2 years) or in school contexts, say at Reed College or at Quaker Pendle Hill center for Study and Contemplation (in which contexts I've met two of the most wonderful mutual loves, albeit in our 20s). Glad you are doing well in this coronavirus pandemic self-quarantine and significant turn in American history.

As I think I have mentioned before too, meeting a MD, AND possibly someone like the 2 women I've mentioned above and before, ... and possibly in the context of Harvard Medical School residents, brainstorming-wise, could have much merit. I was born in Cambridge MA so there would some cultural and place familiarities in these regards too. Natural attraction has much merit and while a ophthalmologist 

...(a med-20s' E.K.? or ??? but not the woman we've talked about),  could share circles with family friends, Harvard Professor Emeritus Dick Robb MD, ophthalmologist (since I was a baby) . . . . Am not that drawn to her here . . . . Perhaps, however, meeting new MDs in her circle could make much sense, if I was living or visiting the Boston area with the possibility of moving there in the spring, for example. Living in a 'safe house' and seeking not to become a victim, as I continue whistle blowing about ethical and legal wrong doing, and for the abolition of the illegal sex industry. Following up here on yesterday's emails. 

Family friend Dick Robb MD had a stroke 4-5 years ago, and my mother said 3-4 weeks ago that he's having a difficult time (he's in his mid-late 80s). While, VERY speculatively, I could hope that George Church - both at Harvard Medical School - could be going over to Brookline to try out new aging reversal genetic drug therapies, emerging at a snail's pace from research on dogs at UMass Medical School (by Broad Institute's Elinor Karlsson - who is attractive psychologically to me) ... and that they are working, minusculely, Dick and his daughter, Erica Robb Thaler MD an ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) at UPenn (https://www.pennmedicine.org/providers/profile/erica-thaler), are the only ones who could know Dr. McCoskey VERY well, since I don't think Maitreyi Mazumdar MD (https://www.childrenshospital.org/directory/physicians/m/maitreyi-mazumdar) also in HMS would know Dr. McCoskey that well if at all. I also don't think Dick would forward my email to Dr McCoskey MD either, if she might be a student of his, as ophthalmologists, (- and she having been 1st in her Harvard Medical School class). Am also, as I wrote, not that drawn to the more recent picture of her. Arranged marriage thinking is one cultural approach to having kids, still practiced in India and other cultures and countries, more than in the USA (in unstudied opinion) but psychiatry is another cultural approach (with more nods to science than anthropology) ... And Lacanian psychoanalytic psychiatry is another cultural approach with fewer nods to science than psychiatry (I'd argue for this in an academic paper in psychiatry as a science). That written, besides connecting naturally - which doesn't appear to be happening with Dr. (a med-20s' E.K.? or ??? but not the woman we've talked about),  - I draw some insights (re psychoanalytic psychiatry) from its thinking re pairing in the sometimes observed parallel between a wife or husband seeking a partner like their parent of the opposite sex. Hi Scott, I have zero experience as a matchmaker - so be cautious taking my advice. However,  I doubt the average 20-30 years old is going to be able to fully appreciate your intellectual depth, and ability to connect disparate areas with passion, and not conform to traditional day-to-day logics.  That said, finding a true life companion is a great goal to focus on.  A goal is "the progressive realization of a worthy ideal."  Hope you are following the advice of Earl Nightingale, and his 30 day challenge.  Stay focussed on your goal, think about it every morning and night, and while you are working on it, be of service to others and good things will surely come your way.  WUaS is also a great goal - and I think by 2028 the AI technology will exist to help you realize it more fully.  You will become empowered by AI capabilities for language translation and matching learning materials to learners, and even certifying that learners know what they set out to learn.   Today, YouTube, Wikipedia, GitHub, and Kaggle are the four best learning platforms that are freely available that I know of and use regularly.   Would love to see "good luck" following you safely everywhere as you achieve your important life goals.  Think about your primary goal, while serving others - that is all it takes for most of us.  "The human mind is the last unexplored continent on Earth."  Thanks, -Jim

Jim, thanks so much for our recent emails, possibly a Sunday afternoon tea at 4pm Eastern Time, for meeting people! (Are all these emails actually from you? Some don't sound like they're from you).

And was that former 670 Ridgecrest Rd Canyon 94516 landlord mentally ill t.w. who pulled yesterday smoothly into the parking lot, in a somewhat familiar white pickup (but without the 'w designs' or sim. logo behind the driver's door) at Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve along Skyline Drive, about a mile from the Skyline-Pinehurst Road entrance to Canyon 84516 (3 miles down the road), where I stopped to go to the restroom, after picking up my mail in the  Canyon 94516, with a 4th duplicate WUaS Corporation CA Franchise Tax Board tax bill (having paid ~$3,000 on the first one about a week ago), and picked up some other mail items, including the early-arriving electronic shield bag for smartphones that you encouraged me to get (since I'm living in a safe house' and head over 2 the Canyon PO about once a week)? I didn't stop to actually see if it was potentially criminal mentally ill predator offender t.w. - re even a kind of potential 'w's last stand' per George Custer in 1876 even? Could he know someone who has access to Google Maps and my GPS location at any given time (having experienced a number of curious seemingly Google Maps and Pandora Music Streaming GPS related events along Skyline Blvd, including what I'm calling a 'non-creditable death threat' ... and which friend Ed Smyth MD actual checked out ) ?

While I think that the 3 of them ... w, l.w., and d.t. ... would go to any lengths to protect their 670 Ridgecrest 1.5 acres, even with criminal track records pages long, I left Canyon having called the local Moraga police twice whistleblowing there too ... and am living in a 'safe house' and potentially seeking asylum on the east coast or in Europe or ... in the spring of 2022 ... but I think that without abolition of the illegal sex industry internationally, and its latent illegal networks of violence, I probably won't be safe anywhere ... given time ... unless both law enforcement practices change (re w. for example) ... and cultural practices too.  Thanks Jim for saying too that the sex industry is huge (which didn't sound like you, for example) ... and thanks Sandy (my brother) for saying on Cuttyhunk around August 30th when we were talking that you will allow that the sex industry exists, ... (first I've heard you say this, actually, Sandy) .. 

Am seeking not to become a vicim of crime gangs ... and hence am seeking to grow an abolition movement of the illegal sex industry ...

Heading off to get car maintenance done tomorrow, and as I've written before, . . .  - ... and could anyone criminal who possibly can GPS my location on Skyline Drive and share this information with a criminal t.w. on turf around Canyon 94516, also share information about my location with Toyota Palo Alto, or with d.t. to share with a possible student of his at Toyota Palo Alto? Could Community Colleges and Car Dealerships also have access to Google Maps' GPS locations of individuals in this particular 'Pandora's box' of security regarding distributed digital technologies?

The WUaS Corporation is making progress, tiny step after tiny step - and although I can't say WUaS is glad to have received 4 tax bills from the CA FTB - there does seem to be the beginnings of a communication emerging, and I'll follow up on this 4th bill with Diana Ramirez, in a local state senator representatives office, which I went into in person the other day, and with the first 3 tax bills (two of which were duplicates in one way or another).
