purple mountain heather (Phyllodoce breweri): Happy New Year to you! * and Happy Hogmanay to you and the St. Andrew's Society, Pittsburgh!

Dear Ligonier Highland Games' 9/17/22 friends (where I became a member of the St. Andrew's Society, Greater Pittsburgh Area), Scotophiles, St. Andrew's Society President Paul Thompson (Scottish Country Dance teacher par excellence from the 1970s in Pittsburgh, PA, when I was learning to do SCD with friends, Rob Byrne, Sioux Davis Claus, Hugh Thomas, Dave Byrne, and some of you perhaps, All,

Happy Hogmanay!  Am reaching out to Scottish oriented friends in this St Andrew's Society Pittsburgh Directory https://www.standrewspittsburgh.org/local-directory/ with some free Scottish Bagpipe music (Scottish Small PIping with Highland Bagpiping fingering), and other free, open, wiki, Scottish teaching and learning resources.

Regarding some of our 9/17/22  Ligonier Highland Games' conversation (http://www.ligonierhighlandgames.org/2022-schedule-of-events.html) - about most beautiful, lovely, melodious, lyrical, prettiest Piobaireachd as great music (a literal translation of the Scottish Gaelic) ... just recorded and saved the recording of the 8th Piobaireachd for my recently published 2nd Scottish Small PIpes' album with this project focused on "prettiest Piobaireachd" (or 'Piobaireachd pretties') ... What are some of your most favorite Piobaireachd tunes? Please share them with all of us if you'd care to share!

I'm excited to announce that I just recorded and published in December 2022, my second Scottish Small Pipes' album of Ceol Mor (or Piobaireachd), called -
1
"Honey Piobaireachd" (2022) here -

Am adding a picture with the 'Carnegie' name from the Carnegie Library and Museums in Oakland, in each photo, to this developing SSP album as well!

And here's my first album of free 'Light Music' or  Ceol Beag -
2
"Honey in the Bag" SSP album (2020)

3
"Honey Piping Rock and Roll" (possible title?)
For a 3rd Scottish Small Pipes' album in a few years, am seeking to riff with the Allman Bros from 1973 (& the 1970s) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNAmXz8kc6I - with Piobaireachd melodies' even - and perhaps engaging machine learning for this Rock and Roll energy and sound, to sheet music. Many of these tunes are in the key of A.

One great thing about Scottish Small Pipes (I have a set of Walsh small pipes) is the at least 3 chanters, in A mixolydian, B Flat mix (like the Great Highland Bagpipe's chanter), and in D major mix. Another great thing is the baritone combination drone, which can create a chord with the drones, a 5th above the "A" of the GHB tenor and base drones. (Am also offering lessons in Piobaireachd, and have recently taught with the College of PIping's Green Tutor, Vol 1, Blue Tutor, Vol 2, and Yellow / Gold Tutor, Vol 4 Piobaireachd to Taylor Warren via Zoom. Have also recently been taking lessons with PM Stuart Liddell (above), - both individual and Group Toptical lessons:)

Looking forward to meeting some of you sometime (but because Robbie Burns was potentially a pretty unsavory character, in my reading. - probably not on the 28th of January at the SASP's Burns' night)

As Aye, Friendly greetings,

Happy Hogmanay, and Bliadhna Mhath Ùr!  We hope your 2022 has been wonderful -- here's to 2023!  If you have a calm New Year's Eve in store, might we suggest enjoying our last Thistle of the year?  Or it can always wait until tomorrow, of course.  We won't tell.

For our members who are resolution-makers, how about making it a point to welcome a little more Scotland into your life!  Our Burns Supper on January 28 is a great way to start.  See you all next year!
