Hot springs by river: Three, subsequent, Harbin Hot Springs' books in mind after this current 1. "Naked, Virtual Harbin" one, 2. The making of the virtual world Harbin, and ethnography thereof, 3. Harbin in the voices of its residents +, and ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy, especially as a method for anthropology, graduate students +, and, 4. A book about all the spiritual teachers who have come to Lake County and the area around Harbin, {and 5. A fifth on music at Harbin? vis-a-vis ethnomusicology? :}

If at all possible with Harbin, I have writing three, subsequent, Harbin Hot Springs' books in mind after this current one ...

1. "Naked, Virtual Harbin" ...

2. the making of the virtual world Harbin with interactive movie realism, and ethnography thereof,

3. Harbin in the the voices of its residents +, and ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy (break the word down), especially as a method for anthropology graduate students +, and

4. a book about all the spiritual teachers who have come to Lake County and the area around Harbin, probably many due to the Harbin warm pool, itself, as well as Harbin New Age spirituality, and Harbin's two, hippie-informed churches, Heart Consciousness Church, New Age Church of Being  ... all of which is very fascinating :).

5. {And a fifth on music at Harbin? vis-a-vis ethnomusicology? :}

Flock of migratory birds: The last of our 4, WUaS, Startup Board Meetings in our Stanford Coursera course, Invitation to you once again, much like Wikipedia, to participate in World University and School, by editing a wiki page, teaching something to your web camera, or making music via the online music subjects

http://images2.sina.com/english/china/p/2008/1107/U137P200T1D197052F12DT20081107000730.jpg

Thanks so much for participating today in the last of our 4, WUaS, Startup Board Meetings in our Stanford Coursera course, and especially for our conversation herein. Here's the video link from today -

which I may edit/shorten just a little - and accessible here - http://www.youtube.com/user/WorldUnivandSch. There's both a discussion of the World University and School, online, medical school (and hospital), beginning potentially in 2017, in English, as well as consideration of the WUaS's developing, wiki, Master Plan - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Master_Plan. WUaS is also planning an online, bookstore / computer store, and eventually, first, in the 6 United Nations' languages - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Bookstore_/_Computer_Store_(New_&_Used)_at_WUaS - but then moving into many, many languages.

I'm glad to say that as a consequence of this Stanford Coursera 'Startup Boards: Advanced Entrepreneurship' course, World University and School has doubled the size of its board, and from three non-U.S. countries, and with 3 non-English languages.

Ongoing, quarterly, WUaS meetings:

World University and School is talking about meeting quarterly on the 3rd Saturdays of each quarter in a year in a G+ Hangout, so January 19th, 2013, would be our first such meeting, and April 21st, 2013, July 21, October 20, and January 19, 2014, would be the next few, into the future, with an email notice in advance. This is an ongoing opportunity for business networking, and in this WUaS mailing, there are speakers from all 6 United Nations' languages - https://plus.google.com/u/0/115890623333932577910/posts. Please email me if you'd like an email about this.

World University and School will continue to develop, free, open, CC, MIT OCW-centric, wiki University and School in all languages and countries, with free, MIT-centric, university degrees (bachelors, Ph.D., I.B., law, and M.D.)  planned, and in many countries and languages.

WUaS is seeking 100,000 student applicants next fall 2013 to matriculate in the autumn of 2014 for our MIT-centric, online, free degrees taking 32 MIT courses over 4 years.

I'd like to invite you once again, much like Wikipedia, to participate in World University and School, by editing a wiki page, teaching something to your web camera, or making music, for example, via the online music subjects - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Music_School - which includes music jamming opportunities, when we get past internet lag. :)

Best wishes,
Scott

MIT OpenCourseWare Interactive Videos

  • 6.00SC - Introduction to Computer Science and Programming

    This subject is aimed at students with little or no programming experience. It aims to provide students with an understanding of the role computation can play in solving problems. It also aims to help students, regardless of their major, to feel justifiably confident of their ability to write small programs that allow them to accomplish useful goals. The class will use the Python programming language.
  • 14.01SC - Principles of Microeconomics

    14.01 Principles of Microeconomics is an introductory undergraduate course that teaches the fundamentals of microeconomics. This course introduces microeconomic concepts and analysis, supply and demand analysis, theories of the firm and individual behavior, competition and monopoly, and welfare economics. Students will also be introduced to the use of microeconomic applications to address problems in current economic policy throughout the semester.

The texts below each video lecture are also a kind of subtitling, an important first step these days to translation.
