Stanford Law CodeX

CodeX Mtg (9/3 @1.30p PT): Preserving integrity of standardization; deCheem; procurement automation

Dear Roland, Olia, Guangmian, and Brian,

Thanks for your excellent Stanford Law CodeX presentation today. Let's stay in touch and about the following (questions).

Olia, thanks so much for your excellent Stanford Law CodeX presentation. What role might ~200 nation states' sovereignties also play (and in their languages)? Best regards,

Scott (https://wikiworlduniversityandschool.org /wiki/Nation_States - /World_University_Law_School /Law - scottmacleod.com )

Guangmian, in what ways could we explore a Singapore Law School in Chinese, or China Law School at WUaS - https://worlduniversity.fandom.com/wiki/China_Law_School_at_WUaS -  with deCheem as a case study experiment at CC-4 MIT OCW-centric World Univ & Sch? Thank you, Guangmian, Scott (sgkmacleod@worlduniversityandschool.org) - Amazing application!

This is the new beginning China Law School at WUaS - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/China_Law_School_at_WUaS - and Singapore Law School will emerge similarly, Guangmian (https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States and https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages)

Brian, thanks for your fascinating research on intelligent software automation of procurement in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and research questions' approaches!

Best regards, Scott

PS

Olia:
Hello Scott, many thanks for attending the presentation and thank you for this great question! The issue of national sovereignty becomes increasingly important when national security is concerned (e.g. participation of Chinese firms in developing 5G standards and 5G infrastructure), and may thus indeed affect standardization results. To my knowledge governments typically would not mandate standards and let the industry choose which standards to use, unless again security issues are at stake

Olia:
As to languages, this is a very relevant issue for standards development committees such as in IETF, where currently new members from marginalized countries being de facto excluded because of the poor knowledge of English (IETF is historically driven by the efforts of US engineers and English is a dominant language). I am not aware of language issues in ISO/ITU other global organizations. Hope this answers your questions, at least in part!

Scott:
Olia, The Stanford Law China Guiding Cases Project https://cgc.law.stanford.edu (translating the new Beijing Supreme Courts rulings into English and then back into Chinese, for one) could be very germane regarding China's developing approach to standards.

Scott:
World Univ & Sch, which is like MIT OCW in 4 languages, and Wikipedia in 300 languages, seeks to build out our 200 online law schools with time, partly in collaboration with Stanford Law, since MIT has neither a Law School (nor a Medical School) ... and collaborate with the CGCP too. Law faculty at WUaS could teach Standards' law ... in all ~200 countries. You in Belgium, in Dutch or? Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for reaching out and great that you liked the presentation on deCheem.
I just read up more on World University and I think I will unfortunately not be able to be of help here. I'm not a lawyer or law student myself at this moment and therefore will not be the best person to assist with your proposals.
If I hear of anyone who might be interested to get in contact with you on your proposal, I'll certainly let you know.

Regards,
Guangmian

Hi Guangmian,

Thanks so much for your email, and thank you for staying up so late to present to Stanford Law CodeX. Brainstorming-wise, and as I think further about your deCheem project, and you as a programmer and founder, and World Univ & Sch, I wonder if deCheem could come to play a central role in the Ideas' section on the WUaS SUBJECT TEMPLATE - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE (which would then inform both academic and creative wiki schools - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Subjects ) - and as WUaS joins our WUaS "front end" such as these pages, with our WUaS "back end" in Wikidata (Wikipedia's structured knowledge database in its 300 languages). World Univ & Sch donated WUaS to Wikidata in 2015, and received the front WUaS Miraheze MediaWiki (such as the beginning Law Schools below, and these in this emails) in 2017, but they aren't yet interconnected or joined. What do you think?

What deCheem might gain access to is Wikidata's structured knowledge database in Wikipedia's 300 languages too - and in MIT OCW-centric (in its 4 languages) World Univ & Sch. And World University and School, if it might be helpful to you, is seeking to grow these Wikipedia/ Wikidata ~300 languages into all 7,117 known living languages, as wiki schools for idea sharing, and open teaching and learning - and in conversation with CC-4 MIT OCW into free-to-students' online university degrees. Again, what do you think? Might it be helpful for deCheem to develop at WUaS in a central role like this, I wonder, and how could deCheem also focus this WUaS Ideas' section at WUaS? Just some idea-generating questions which could benefit deCheem's idea generation.

While I found your  -

Thank you, Brian!

How long were you in Pittsburgh? I lived there for most of my high school years from 1974-1979.

I look forward to seeing a video of your presentation again. Am interested in exploring possibilities with you re CC-4 MIT OCW-centric World University and School, planned in all ~200 countries' official and main languages, and with planned Law Schools in each of all these nation states, and even exploring for example ways possibly to hire eventually Stanford Law students and postdocs etc, and similar. Thanks for your kind email.

Best regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for reaching out again and I appreciate your interest in deCheem.
Unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to help out here, and I’d prefer to focus on the software development of deCheem at this moment.

If that changes in the future, I’d definitely let you know.

Have a great weekend for now.

Regards,
Guangmian

WUaS is focused very much in countries’ and languages, and for degrees - and planning ~200 countries, and in 7,117 known living languages (and may develop further in Google as well for TensorFlow AI as well as Translate, and more). How could deCheem play a central role, I wonder? Thank you!

BUILDING FOR DIGITAL HEALTH: A VIRTUAL BUILDATHON
Supported by Stanford Biodesign CardinalKit + Apple iOS + Google Cloud

https://biodesign.stanford.edu/news---events/virtual-buildathon.html

Seeking to develop #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records which MIT OCW-centric (in its 4 languages)World Univ & Sch is planning. These would be a part of a single realistic virtual earth, and even with a #RealisticVirtualEarthForSurgery - https://twitter.com/hashtag/RealisticVirtualEarthForSurgery?src=hashtag_click - and potentially tele-robotic surgery. Am interested in an ongoing way in actual-virtual, physical-digital developments, and for all of the above. This is the idea -

https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1189649081175379968?s=20 . You'll find the best way to conceive of 'Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records' in the images here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/strategy-brainstorming-medicine-and.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/09/oregon-coast-wuas-avatarbotelectronicme.html (and elsewhere in this blog too) - and here -

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1177364462858227713 - with related ideas. These would also be part of planned online Medical Schools with online Teaching Hospitals for online clinical care in all ~200 countries' official and main languages, beginning with https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Medical_School https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Hospital https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Nursing_School https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Languages. And here is the beginning Clinical Trials' wiki subject page - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Clinical_Trials_at_WUaS_(for_all_languages) at World Univ & Sch - planned for speakers of all 7,117 known living languages.

Tele-robotic surgery for cardiovascular disease, and also online psychiatry in all ~200 countries' official and main languages with Natural Language Processing, both in a realistic virtual earth for STEM (am thinking Google Street View with TIME SLIDER, Maps, Earth, TensorFlow AI, Translate and which is group-building like Second Life, but realistic, and with realistic avatar bots for tele-robotic surgery, for ex., and such as Samsung Neons, aka 'artificial humans' on Samsung hardware and software.

MIT OCW wiki World University and School, which is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages, with CC-4 MIT OCW in its 4 current languages, and since MIT doesn't have a medical school (or a law school), WUaS is seeking to explore further collaboration with Stanford Medicine (and Stanford Law) about which I've communicated with Robert Harrington MD, Chairman of Stanford Medicine a few years ago)
