Brainstorming-wise, here's an idea and even for a Scottish Small Pipes' online pipe band (or initially a chanter band ... with getting Scottish Small Pipes something to aim for and build toward too ... possibly ... if everyone interested would eventually then get a set of SSP ... & if affordable, for ex.). Perhaps in addition to a Topical, meet once a month 2 weeks after a Topical? And with perhaps a Steven McWhirter recording of a drum setting for Inverness Rant or The Islay Ball, could we all play with this recording in our own homes, and record our playing too (perhaps with drums on headphones)?  ... And then could we all send in our recordings? (I'm not the sound engineer to bring them all together, however). But this would give us all a goal to record and learn and hear ourselves learning say The Islay Ball ... so that we develop our agency as pipers in a sense ... and then when we meet on a different Sunday than a Topical  - and as real-real-time music-making develops moving beyond internet latency or lag - we could eventually all play together as a Scottish Small Pipes' band online ... in a new way ... the "PM Stuart Liddell online Scottish Small Pipes' bagpipe band" ... A hypothetical excellent drummer like Steven McWhirter might also be able to develop 3 different settings from The Islay Ball, slowly at first, with which we as Scottish Small Pipers could then play a strathspey differently  ... moving towards new kinds of creativity in piping ... thanks to perhaps the 'lead' of the drummer ... a drummer taking the lead, where Pipers almost always take the lead in Piping ... and then perhaps with these 3 hypothetical drum settings for the strathspey, the Islay Ball (per your mentioning all those excellent drummers with different styles) ... perhaps you could further take the lead as a virtuosic piper in developing a new approach to Steven McWhirter's 3 hypothetical different drum settings ...  

A Reel for the next Topical ... and then we'd have with John D Burgess (6/8) ... and a beginning MSR for our beginning SSP PM Stuart Liddell online pipe band? :)

This would all build too on your awesome pipe band knowledge, taking it in a new direction to the web ... :) ... Just some brainstorming ... and I'm not yet going to send in my version of The Islay Ball to a sound engineer ... would like, for one, the possible conversation with a drummer for my own learning ... (are there as many different strathspey drum settings as their are strathspeys ... or could strathspey drum settings head in this direction and with the help of new computer applications for example ... for innovation in creation of strathspey drum settings as unique evolving pieces of music ... which might even inform completely new settings for the Islay Bay for Piping, in contrast to The Inverness Rant )

... all for the fun of playing in NEW ways on the pipes (moving beyond the 'constraints' the word you used, a bit like when you pipe and move into 'space' in new ways, in my experience, and which are highly moving and great ... : ) ... (and I still have in mind jamming with the Allman Bros 1973 at Cow Palace on the Scottish Small Pipes ... for this kind of space-music :))

Continuing to play a Piobaireachd nearly every evening before heading to bed, and with a recording ... and for my next Piping album ... (would like to bring more consciousness to the playing ... and further innovation especially ... but such explorations of playing with the Allman Bros in an unconstrained way haven't opened out yet ... in that I appreciate too the constraints of the Piping tradition, and playing in these ways ... but your piping virtuosically is a call to a kind of piping 'space' musically with Light Music especially for me ... thank you! )

Our car talk made me wonder regarding a new USA Toyota Proace Autonomous vehicle electric van, if I got one, whether I could even amusingly drive my little Toyota Prius 2016 hybrid to you, while the Autonomous vehicle electric van drove by itself in a caravan:) ... Or would I be able to send this van on its own  730 miles to you as a new Autonomous vehicle? :) Really nice to talk and thanks for calling ... Hope your lone wolf and cow with calf half inside issue sorts itself out.

"glad your niece Ann Brown in NE Oregon called as I was driving back from the University of California in Merced ... and she said something like there is a wolf around the Wisdom Creek Ranch tree farm where she's been a part since 1959, and which your brother created magnificently  ... and I asked Annie, 'don't wolves run in packs, but with possibly a very large range (not knowing wolf ecology)'? ... and Ann said something about a solitary wolf (which isn't how actual wolves in packs work I hypothesize)... and it made me wonder later  about former mentally ill landlord in Canyon 94516. who may have been a wolf in the night, solo, since even the 1970s possibly ... Don't have the evidence ... but the wolf around the ranch may have gotten or startled a cow, who still has a calf half inside her, said Annie, my 1st cousin on my mother's side, is a licensed big & small (house pet) animal veterinarian too ... We went on to talk about genetics, (also since she majored in biology and is a vet), a WUaS Longevity Genetics' Institute (I added), aging reversal genetic drug vaccines and related possible vaccine jumpstart developments from over the past 2 years of the non-epidemic ... I also mentioned in passing talk in California of a "Gig economy' emerging (eg Uber eats, I've heard ... and does it create victims in the process?, and regarding music teachers, for example ... sex workers too??? :( ... and regarding diplomatic circles and that China for example ... has a lot of lithium, useful for lithium ion batteries ... which makes me wonder speculatively how a 'Gig economy' might work with regards to international law in all ~200 countries, and especially to protect people, kids, women, victims, innocents etc ... and not only with new technologies, such as could protect your house like "Google Nest x Yale Lock with Nest Connect" but also with electronic medical records connected with Google Maps for tracking even, and with possibly more than 50% of the US having been vaccinated and thus gotten this on their electronic medical record ... as part of legal systems to protect people ... track offenders to Cuttyhunk even?  )..."
