... just lying there ... One of them asked, can you teach me to play the Scottish small pipes, and the other then said in harmony, - and can you teach me to play the trumpet too? 

They had walked ❤️ up both flights of stairs earlier, with new modular battery packs, much longer lasting than in 2010 and 2017. The THR3 then said the "Master Maneuvering System" (the chair for a human to sit in to code THR3s) ... is in the Toyota ProAce Electric Autonomous Vehicle Van out front (in which they had both driven over from CMU, formerly the Carnegie Technology Institute ...) 


But HOW to merge Ameca the Robot, with an amazing animated face, with this 2010 #ToyotaTrumpetPlayer system ... especially for iterating with the trumpet playing abilities and learning (and this 2010 robot couldn't 'go wireless' like newer models of THR3 robot can ...)   



3 autonomous AI physical robotic and vehicular systems all working together, pretty flawlessly  ... Cool .. .

An iterating realistic virtual physical-digital Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic field site (and for brain research too) - in almost a kind of 'trippy' way with - as part of a realistic virtual earth for everything, at the cell and molecule levels too, might address the questions you are asking in new ways about real, fictional or undermotivated in very new ways, and regarding your "virtual realism's distinctive mental state is unremarkable."

This is a reminder that Alex Fisher (Robinson College, Cambridge) will be speaking at the Moral Sciences Club tomorrow (Tuesday 25th October), from 4:00--5:45 pm on Virtual Reality as Fictional or Real. The abstract is as follows:


It is controversial whether virtual reality is fictional or real. Virtual realists argue that objects in virtual reality are genuinely real – they exist, have causal powers, and so on. Virtual fictionalists claim that engagement with virtual reality involves the imagination, hence virtual objects are merely fictional and do not exist. I argue that virtual realism is undermotivated.

First, an apparent major difference between virtual realism and virtual fictionalism – whether or not we imagine in engaging with virtual reality – comes to nothing. The form of belief that the virtual realist advocates instead is functionally identical to imagination. Second, virtual realism purports to have greater explanatory power due to its increased ontology. Yet a key case meant to demonstrate this – our reaction to traumatic events such as sexual assault in virtual reality – can be equally explained by the virtual fictionalist. Consequently, virtual realism's distinctive mental state is unremarkable, and its additional ontology redundant.


This talk will be hybrid. The in-person meeting will take place at Newnham College in the Jane Harrison Room, followed by tea and coffee and then dinner at Thaikhun in the evening. The talk will also be available to watch on Zoom on the following link:
