Thanks so much for the info and your email. Glad retirement is going well.
My MacBook Air 13 inch Laptop dating from 2014, and which I got refurbished a little later, has in booting up now shown the question mark over the folder, a sign of no longer operating I think. It doesn't have a CD (or floppy disk port), and while I don't think DOS is on my external back up hard drive, with its own cable, maybe I'll plug in the cable and boot up and see if DOS or similar is accessible. Thanks!
I did find this in Consumer Reports review of MacBook Air laptops last May, and could conceivably get it by Friday, and possibly this one -

And while it may make most sense to order something like this for home delivery from WM or similar on smartphone, and potentially for less than than $950 (of last year), I may head into the Apple Shadyside store opening at 10am and see what they say, and have, and also bring my external hard drive too to see if they could help me locate something like DOS on it. (Am curious to learn about their retailing and information 'genius bar' today - and regarding Physical- Digital WUaS Educational Services' stores for books, computers, robotics and hospital technologies for example, as WUaS seeks to grow to be as big as WM over 50 years to 2.3 million people).
I have made a backup very recently, so reinstallation of operating system and programs should go smoothly.
With your being an Apple engineer and programmer with patents, am appreciating how many different versions of Apple laptops have been made since 1991.
Glad your retirement is enjoyable, Jim! Genetic aging reversal drugs emerging (and I realize you're a sceptic), I'd like to keep developing MIT OCW- centric wiki Work World Univ & Sch through the centuries. (Will we be able to get the first aging reversal and genetic FDA APPROVED drugs by 2030 per Harvard & MIT professor of genetics' George Church, and eg from WM then in capsule form ?
