Discussion questions

1) Assume that all of the molecular biology work you'd like to do could be automated, what sort of new biological questions would you ask, or what new types of products would you make?

2) If you could make metric tons of any protein, what would you make and what positive impact could you have?

Stanford Law School - 4.9.25 "UN AI for Good" conference - 'Responsible AI: Governance and Use' panel

Dear Kim (Van Sparrentak), Diane (Homolak), Bobbi (Rakova), Ashley (Carr),

Greetings, and thank you - (& here's a picture  https://photos.app.goo.gl/Weaxb1p6hvATff2i8) - so much for your super Responsible AI: Governance and Use panel on W 4/9/24 at the Stanford Law School CodeX UN AI for Good conference - https://law.stanford.edu/event/un-ai-for-good-law-track-conference/ (- and regarding CC-4 licensed MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School WUaS development too). I asked you an AI and ML technological determinism question after your panel when you were still on the dais, and re Castells' book "Networks of Outrage and Hope" (2015) think there are ways forward for Responsible AI: Governance and Use ... even if this AI and ML information technologies develop uncontrollably in nefarious directions. Thoughts and questions?

"Technological determinism is the idea that technology is a primary driver of social change, while co-constitution emphasizes the mutual and reciprocal relationship between technology and society."

Kim (Van Sparrentak), in the context of the European Union, the Euro in 20 out of 27 EU countries, and regarding Greens' Party thinking, how could the United Nations and  MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School WUaS, planning online major WUaS Universities from home for free-to-students' WUaS degrees (so free Bachelor, PhD, Law, MD, IB high sch/sim, AA and Master's degrees) in each of all 27 EU countries help further this "UN AI for Good" 'Responsible AI: Governance and Use' conversation? Please see the emails to John Gibson and Roland Vogl below in the PPPS in some of these regards.

Best regards, abolitionally, thanks so much, Co-constitutionally,
Scott

more than 70K kids were found to be part of a fraudulent family

many parents took their own lives

when parents asked why they were considered fraudulent

the system or AI or algorithm said so ...

re student loans too ...

The problem with AI as a black box is that
there is no transparency

Diane's perspective

Gartner thinks that by 2029, 99% of organizations will have an AI management team (???)

She thinks that true ... but temporary

that it will slowly disappear

AI and ML will just become part of the process and how it works ...

Having an ai governance team will become less important
and just having good governance will become important

Does the RAILS' perspective do this?

start with your risk assessment

assessment will become more and more difficult over time ...

data privacy by design

those teams have to understand the cultural impacts and the risks

AI will become synonymous with work

there's a whole scale of AI
from benefits

how are you thinking about bucketizing these issues from a governance

start with these -

Use case

Kim
with the AI Act

if you put it on the market you have to register it ...

if it's not on the market it doesn't have to be registered

part of people having to trust these systems

Question 2

How do you regulate & detect
OFF LABEL responses ?

Kim
in principles you have to make sure businesses figure this out ..

Diane
Give people a way for people to think responsibly about this ...

since people are using AI already ...

Carr -

shutting it down won't be super effective

Question

good definition of AI that involves ethics

EU has so many exceptions for migration, military, international, and in many other ways

Responsible or ethical isn't defined yet ...

Kim
I was involved in some of these

conversations about migration are very similar

in America it's almost impossible now to come to Europe

on international level
at the UN level

Dear John, (and Roland),

Great to talk with you at some length at lunch yesterday W 4/9/24 at the Stanford Law School CodeX UN AI for Good conference - https://law.stanford.edu/event/un-ai-for-good-law-track-conference/ - and regarding MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School WUaS development too. (Do you know Sid/Pin Mazumdar, HHS, who also graduated in Economics from Harvard in 1982, and was my best friend in High School in Pittsburgh in the 2nd half of the 1970s)? And thanks for your inspiring and visionary concluding talk especially. And thanks to all the DLA Piper lawyers and presenters for your great contributions (and greetings to Ksenila Fontaine in Geneva Switzerland).

Following up on WUaS seeking to develop ~250 + online law schools with AI and ML and as LLMs in part (as well as to hire law faculty), in ~200 countries (and in all ~50 + US states + too), in ~200 free-to-students' online major MIT OCW-centric #GrowWithGoogleWUaS wiki World University and School WUaS research universities, where the UN's member states number 193, and regarding your mentioning the UN's Sustainable Development goals, and AI and ML especially, how could WUaS, coding for most of all 7.9 billion people on the planet each a Wikidata PIN # from here - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University - and potentially to end poverty worldwide by potentially distributing Stanford Mine Pi cryptocurrency to say the poorest billion people on the planet, especially, help the United Nations (and see https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/United_Nations with no MIT OCW courses on it yet, as a beginning WUaS wiki subject / school for open wiki-teaching and wiki-learning ... not yet translated in all 200 countries' main languages) achieve some of its - https://sdgs.un.org/goals - goals? How could a physical-digital iterating realistic virtual earth for agriculture help with ending hunger? (And see Peter Norvig's INCREDIBLE #ToolifyAIWUaS article mentioning for the first time by someone other than WUaS a #RealsiticVirtualEarth + in "Revolutionizing Education with Machine learning and AI: #WorldUniversityInSchool - https://www.toolify.ai/ai-news/revolutionizing-education-with-machine-learning-and-ai-2574306)/ and so so much more, including a #RealsiticVirtualHarbin as STEAM field site). And how could ~200 online WUaS Medical Schools (and even with Toyota Humanoid Robots as MD professors of surgery, and in the back of Toyota Ambulance Vans, brainstorming), help too with the UN SDGs?

And in what ways could United Nations' computer servers, for example, provide the open source AI and ML tools to help each of all 193 UN member states (and the other 8 nations, per the "201 National Olympic Committees (NOCs)" participating in 2004), with specific tools possibly chosen, and especially also written or coded (and possibly by WUaS students in each of these nation states with time), in each of these countries, by their people, (as in "We the People ...") in conjunction with the United Nations' Protocols and process and the UN IT Czars for this (which you mentioned), in order to navigate all the issues raised by so many UN AI for Good conference panelists yesterday?

In some of these regards, I also created a set of Tweets / LinkedIn posts (and see below).

Looking forward to further communication about this in the future - and regarding both of World Univ & Sch's WUaS's wings, 1) the nonprofit 501 c 3 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch, and 2) for profit general stock company legal entity in the state of CA, the WUaS Corporation (and see the beginning URLs with tax ID numbers and information below).

All the best, abolition-ally, thanks so much, Friendly regards,
Scott
