The sounds go around

The sounds go around
in the eve
here in Lake County -
back road country -
as they always have,
for millions of years.

I listen and write,
as the crickets, and related,
creak their age-old songs

...

with awareness, and appreciation
that no humans were here
on Turtle Island,
north America,
more than 20,000 years ago,
to hear this, -

and that early writing
began possibly
only 5,000 years ago.
