American black bear: Cuttyhunk MA & Randolph NH - Dear Clerk of Hanover Quaker Meeting, What is the URL from the Zoom Quaker Meeting out of Hanover? Nice to see you at the Avalon the other day Johnny. And greetings from Randolph, New Hampshire, where I'm visiting a high school friend, Henry, and his wife, Victoria ... beautiful here. 

Joan, I just left a message on your home phone answering machine inquiring if you might be around Hanover on Monday, and like to meet for lunch/brunch in the late morning  or similar. I'd like to check out Dartmouth too, re collaboration with World University and School potentials. If John Paul had a boat heading to Cuttyhunk around 5pm on Monday, I'd then seek to head back to the island on that boat, picking up groceries on the way. In the message, I mentioned how I'm living in what I'll call a 'safe house' in the SF Bay Area, and that I'd like to explore cities in New England with a great university - as possible places to move to in the spring of 2022 when my current lease in safe house is up. 

It would be wonderful to see you, Joan, if you're in Hanover on Monday (but realize you may be on Cuttyhunk too now, or elsewhere). Might you be around so we could meet for brunch and a visit ?:) Otherwise, I may even seek to take the 1:30pm Cuttyhunk Ferry tomorrow Sun July 18 back to Cuttyhunk, a four hour drive or so from Randolph. (I could, alternatively, seek to head to the Quaker Meeting tomorrow in Hanover in some of these regards). I don't think I have your cell phone, but will check too. Are you in Hanover these days? :)

Hi Joan, John, Ma, All,

After a very nice dinner last night with Henry Cutter's cousin and family (thank you Henry!), I woke up this morning to learn that Henry (my friend from high school) and Victoria, whom I'm visiting, are going to return to NYC today after all, leaving at about 10:45am (two days ago, (they had said they would extend their stay here another 2 weeks). They've also said I can stay here overnight further, I'm glad to write, and just to lock the house when I leave tomorrow. I'm still planning to head to Hannover, Monday, 7/19/21, tomorrow late morning, and then am seeking to catch a boat with John Paul around 5 if he's going (and will 'deal' with the situation if he's not going). Joan, might you be in Hannover tomorrow (or might you already be on Cuttyhunk?) ... I still haven't heard back from the Clerk of the Quaker Meeting in Hannover with the Zoom Quaker Meeting link yet, but could still hear.

Leaving for Dartmouth, Quaker places in Hanover and Cuttyhunk soon ... 

Brought in the furniture from Henry's porch to the living room ...

Glad to have heard from Henry last night (below), with my email in response ...

Felt connected with an old friend (but am not sure what weather he is living through, and you'll read below some of the ways I'm thinking about informing adverse weather for example, and regarding World Univ & Sch too). I think this visit was partly Henry and Victoria joining WUaS potentially. :) Glad for their warm and friendly hospitality ... but am curious further how to create particular World Univ & Sch culture, milieu, discourse, mores, law abidance, - and in all 200 countries for social justice, and to protect innocents and victims too! Hopefully I'll be able to code further for some of this ...

A beautiful, inner light-wise, 28 year old MD (with echoes of Susan and Anke) ... as a life partner, and to begin to have kids with, could be great ...  With some Unitarian or Quaker or Protestant or Scottish background? On with circulation :)

Good morning, Ma, from Randolph, 


Nice to see Henry and Victoria, who seem well and welcoming, after not seeing them for many years in person. Arrived at 5:52 pm and the trip from New Bedford to Randolph, which according to Maps, took just under 4 hours. Got to New Bedford on the 11am Cuttyhunk Ferry just before noon. Amazingly, my car in a kind of vacant lot next to some residential buildings at the corner of Purchase and Walnut in NB was in good shape and started right up. Before this I had gone to the New Bedford Whaling Museum to get some gifts for Henry and Victoria (Louis had gone back to NYC for a job), and got them Moby Dick the book, and 3 T-shirts, blue with a Sperm Whale on the front, and New Bedford Whaling Museum Est. 1903 on the back. Went to the Elm Street garage and got a July parking pass, and the required electronic pass, costing 45$ and 10$ ... made out the check to the city of New Bedford, with a really nice person in the office (whom I had called a few days earlier I think), and my paper receipt mentioned something about Violations & $55 as their form of billing ... and perhaps regarding the vacant lot I parked in after hours too on June 28???

The keyboard and its stand for Piney's House as gifts had arrived on Cuttyhunk. and will likely pick them up getting on the 1:30 pm ferry to Cuttyhunk tomorrow, arriving at 2:30 ... :)

Lots of green New England forests (which I know so well) in full summer on the highways in Massachusetts and New Hampshire as I drove norther/ The highways became particularly nice in the northern part of New Hampshire. 

Henry made a lovely Indian chickpea dish, vegetarian, and we ate outside on the porch - on a lovely evening with lovely temperature, and green and flowers all around - eating eat, a salad and talking. Victoria brought out a nice dessert.  

Some computing technology news' bits - 
They also have a Google Nest here, - part of their wi-fi system ... so it's leading me to think more about the Google Nest X Yale Lock ... and what else Google Next could be used for ... out in California, for example. Henry and Victoria also use their smartphones much, which as little computers, make many sounds on there's, and thus seem to be becoming more alive ... and computer-interactive like. They're also talking about remodeling their house in Randolph, and am appreciating its character, and the benefits of a potential architect to do a good job ... and re your Sun Rooms.

Henry is an old friend, and good to have stood on the corners of Linden and Penn Avenues for all those years going to Shady Side on the Bus. My computer said it's Pin Mazumdar's birthday next Friday, July 23rd, and on the Cuttyhunk Ferry, I had asked Google Voice what time high tide on the full moon on July 23rd is ... 5:56 pm it showed me ... will check the Fish Dock then to see with my own eyes about oceans rising regarding Global Warming ... and the very humid summer once again on Cuttyhunk ... science in action opportunity :)

Curious to see what happens today with WUaS Monthly Business Meeting at noon, and possibly hiking afterward.

Could Henry and his family even begin to add photos from those years between 1961 and 1967 to a single realistic virtual earth for history, and could they be patched together with machine learning, and then could be begin to revisit - HISTORICALLY - even and more than in film, this Durand road ... interactively as well, talking with avatar bots of people in the possibly photos ... am calling this ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy (adding photos, video and text for example into a realistic virtual earth such as Google Street View with time slider)

Belly: Holotropic Breath Work

Heading to a Harbin workshop on holotropic breath work, which can take one places... It was explored a lot more in the 1960s and 70s, I think, than it is today.

...

I didn't get to the workshop.


But I did Holotropic breath work about a month ago at Harbin - :)

~ Right out of the 1960s?


Holotropic Breath Work was Wild

Lovely Dree with a faux European accent, comes to Fern kitchen – where I'm cooking some eggs with tomatoes, onions, pepper, and parsley, with a little Vollkorn Brot - 5 grain bread - for dinner. I've seen her around for a few days. She has lovely, long, blond hair, and a smiling, warm, open face. A number of men have been paying attention to her over the week, and cooking with her. We've only said hi in passing. I asked her where's she's from? She's a little mysterious. Sweden, I wonder? She's spent some 2 years in Austria, - in Graz. We speak a little German together. She's not from Germany, so I say "Hungary?," the "Czech Republic?" "Poland?" "No." I don't find out. (Is she from Slovenia? - this raises a series of other questions in my mind vis-a-vis CE, who had a lovely Polish girlfriend, and who no longer comes to Harbin).

Dree is wearing a short pink dress, and looks a little bit like a flower-child from the 1960s. She offers me a little bit of her tea, with half-and-half cream and honey. I decide to go to the event. She says she's often late to things, so she heads to the Temple at 6:50 pm and I finish cooking my dinner quickly, and walk with bowl in hand down to the Harbin Temple in the garden to the Holotropic Breath Workshop.


N is setting up his drums in the Temple. Things are a little chaotic. He mentions a workshop he took in 1981 with Stanislov Grof MD at Esalen on Holotropic breath work. He engages Indian rituals. He's originally from Europe, has long white hair and wore a red bandana around his hair, mentioned living in the Middle East for many years, is a Harbin resident, and has come and gone from Harbin a number of times.

He offers us little structure. He seems like he hasn't done this too much before. Do we want to have an assistant? Or not? I walk across the room to where Dree is lying down and ask if she wants to work together. There are probably 15 people in the workshop. She says yes. Assistants have been used in the past in Holotropic Breath Work, which some, who have had some experience at this, are familiar with. We're instructed to make ourselves comfortable - very comfortable - with cushions. We put a lot of cushions under us, in slightly uneven ways. They are comfortable. The cushions in the Temple are perfect for this.

Dree starts on her back, and I'm her assistant. There's little direction, except to start breathing. Breathe deeper. Breathe actively and vigorously. Dree begins to go numb and says so to me. She mentions something about an injury she's had. Having taught yoga with attention to alignment, I wonder if it's her assymetrical body position on the pillows, possibly pinching a nerve along her spine. She wonders if it's her breathing. She continues to breathe deeply. N circles the room getting people to breathe actively, - he is pushing quite firmly on their chests, and creating a cacophony in the air. Music plays in the background, which is also 'energizing.' The music becomes somewhat discordant. The atmosphere is chaotic and people are vigorously pumping their breath through their bodies. Dree is still going numb – in her face, hands, she says, and I worry a little. I suggest she does some yoga twists, thinking in terms of symmetrical yoga positions as a possible solution.

I invite her to my blankets and area across the room, and fold them with care symmetrically and align them for a restorative yoga breathing position. Then she lays down. At first I think she is free of the numbness. But it hasn't stopped, - it's part of the breath work.

We change partners, and she becomes my assistant, but mainly sits by me as I deepen my breath, and absorb the music and N's words. "Breathe deeply ... More deeply," he exorts. He sings some Indian chants and continues to play his drums.

Then I do start to breathe deeply, - and do go a little numb . . . and the process does become wild – almost psychedelic – and wildly freeing, as I tune into the music, and continue to breathe deeply. You kind of learn what your belly wants while doing this. The music itself is transporting, and since I'm somewhat experienced at letting go, and going with what comes up, this helps me explore freedom and rich, almost trippy, imagination. The process offers fascinating avenues into the mind, if done repeatedly. And despite its wildness, and slightly too much chaos at first, I did open avenues to freedom and release, that were new for me, and great.

Angela and Victor's yoga, much more gentle, also can get into some of these uniquely 'psychedelic' or trippy places, and many other subtle states of being, using rich language and remarkable vision.

To explore these processes further... :)


It was very nice to return to the pools today, ~ to return 'home,' in a way.
