Minutes for World University and Schools Monthly Business Meeting on 9/19/20

World Univ & Sch, in taking the next steps of partnering with edX Online Campus, is seeking to matriculate undergraduate students for free-to-students' online Bachelor degrees on or around 1 January 2021.

Regarding partnering with edX Online Campus, World University and School has met twice (in the week of M Sept 21, 2020) with edX Online Campus in MIT Zoom video conferencing, once on Monday for an hour, with Matthew Gusching and Cameron Kaubris, and once on Wednesday (9/23/20) for 45 minutes with Matthew and Carolina McGarity. Thanks to edX's Marissa DePaolo for helping to facilitate this. Here's the current development in terms of partnering:

I hope my note finds you well - thank you for your email and your questions. I have moved Cam and Marissa to BCC to protect their inbox as they have advisory roles with WUaS and will not be focused on our initiative directly. 

Research: The McGovern Brain Institute is a research arm that develops the Pedagogy of edX Online Campus. You can read more about their research and findings, here. 

Summary of Partnership: To establish a partnership with edX, we have an agreement process to decide together the scope of the initial roll-out for students. In this stage, we decide how the reimbursement process will be directed and the discovery process for students finding edX courses. 

Following the agreement, we will launch by selecting programs/courses that best fit your learners, implementing the discovery process for students to find courses, and connecting the data back to you to monitor progress and assist learners through programs. 

Next Steps: As the agreement is the next hurdle, here are a few questions we need to answer to move forward: 
  • How will the reimbursement process work between WUaS and edX?
  • How soon after enrollment can WUaS secure funds for edX Online Campus Courses?
  • Will a Purchase Order be necessary from edX to state offices?

WUaS Law 

WUaS seeks to facilitate identity verification in all European countries regarding GDPR (& specifically regarding DSAR), and also in all ~200 countries and their official languages, each a Wikidata Q-item # and regarding Stanford Law CodeX's Ramona Welk's recent presentation (https://law.stanford.edu/2020/09/16/codex-meeting-september-17th-2020/).

WUaS is seeking 50 students from the following 8 World Univ & Sch's in January (and from other countries too) to matriculate in English in January 2021, (and for WUaS to send the edX purchase order per edX's recent partnering email above  - with one PO, or alternatively receive an invoice from edX) for all of these countries, and also for students in the remaining approximately 198 countries (since there were athletes from ~206 countries in recent Olympics). These students would plan to study for 4 years' free-to-students' online best STEAM CC-4 OpenCourseWare-centric Bachelor degrees (and soon thereafter Ph.D. degrees). WUaS may code for students and reimbursement questions through WUaS G Suite for Education.
