Hi Eric, and Meeting (meeting @ worlduniversityandschool.org - since I partly know Eric from the Palo Alto Quaker Meeting, and where I first met him 5-10 years ago, I think),

Nice to see you at the cafe on California Avenue in PA today.

Here are the Reed College faculty bios, with you among them - https://www.reed.edu/reed-magazine/articles/2018/new-faculty-2018.html - which you may have already seen.

This may be my starting point in comparing the STEM ethoses of Stanford and MIT in terms of innovation since the 1960s:

African flower mantis: Romania WUaS A) @WorldUnivAndSch B) @WUaSPress, Online culture at WUaS? - ie. to become world class - I think one of former chair of Stanford CS Nils Nilsson's points is that Stanford CS ADAPTED to what students wanted/what kept their interest, whereas MIT, for example, might not have (see his transcribed text in my blog post), It's a kind of excellence, smart empathy and connecting academically

- https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/05/pelican-creating-world-class-computer.html (with a transcription of how Nils Nillson responded to my question).

Have you seen this Stanford Historical Society video "Creating World Class Computer Science at Stanford," by any chance, or were you there?

And I've posted below some other related 'Stanford-MIT STEM Ethos' comparison blog posts of mine (and with some actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' focus, and related, too).

Furthermore, in what ways might a realistic virtual earth for STEM ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy (Think Google Street View with Time Slider +++++) - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - further inform this anthropological book.

Initial thoughts in comparing these ethoses?

Am curious in what ways Reedies and Stanfordians could best find their ways into World University and School graduate programs in great numbers for Ph.D., Law and online M.D. degrees, and also in what ways could Reedies already in graduate school around the country lead/teach 'Hum 101' sections (nee Hum 110 - the required first year course at Reed, - recently re-vamped) at WUaS online in Google group video Hangouts conceptually.

Have a great time in Portland, and great to run into you.

Best, Scott

Stanford Historical Society faculty senate

Hi Eric,

Nice to see you today again at Stanford Historical Society faculty senate panel - https://historicalsociety.stanford.edu/events/faculty-senate-fifty-years-academic-governance - with Gerhard Casper (after the recent Stanford Education CSET talk - https://youtu.be/Yd4XK35yDw8).

See you in Portland in early June? I'm likely heading to a Reed College alumni gathering then and re the Academic Press at World University and School http://worlduniversityandschool.org/AcademicPress.html . I sometimes attend Multnomah Monthly Meeting when I'm in Portland visiting Reed

Friendly regards,
Scott

Dear Danish, and Nell,

Nice to talk to you after today's Stanford panel. It seems that adoption of the blockchain ledger will potentially transform the trust issues, for one, implicit in CFIUS and FIRRMA and re international tariffs - partly because of the decentralized, distributed aspect, and the solving of a complex cryptographic puzzle, of this game-changing financial system. A view on the blockchain ledger - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/10/gold-dust-day-gecko-blockchain-ledger.html.

And here's a fascinating interview with Neha Narula, director of the MIT Digital Currency Initiative - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/09/sequoia-sempervirens-cones-stanford-law.html - and who may be involved in thinking through a single cryptocurrency (with blockchain ledger) backed by ~200 central banks.

As World University and School begins to code our wiki for matriculated students in all ~200 countries' official languages, and for wiki-learners and teachers in all 7,097 living languages, WUaS would like to explore further coding for an Universal Basic Income for all 8 billion people on earth (taxable so nation states would benefit with new revenue streams - potentially with the block chain too), and as a way to distribute a single cryptocurrency backed by most of ~200 nation states' banks (post Euro in ~19 out of 28 nation states, and backed by these central banks). WUaS would like to do this too as an assistive technology, defining assistive technologies anew - and potentially working with Intuit TurboTax re their approach to assistive technologies (T.D. there). Fortunately, the Euro has a 20 history as a regional currency which lessons' learned could positively benefit the development a single cryptocurrency backed by 200 countries' banks - since this would be an enormous change in the world's finances. Hopefully World Univ & Sch's planned Law Schools - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/World_University_Law_School (see below too) - and WUaS's planned Computer Science Departments - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Computer_Science (emerging from CC-4 MIT OCW in 5 languages - https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/ and https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/translated-courses/) in each of all ~200 countries' online will be able to help facilitate such a ginormous undertaking - and potentially emerging from Stanford as well. (Since MIT doesn't have a Law School or  a Medical School, both degrees of which, World Univ & Sch plans to offer in ~200 countries' main languages online, WUaS has inquired whether we can grow with Stanford OpenCourseWare or similar, paralleling Creative Commons' 4 licensed MIT OpenCourseWare - which CC-4 licensing allows for 1) sharing, 2) adapting but 3) non-commercially - where WUaS potentially with Stanford would seek reimbursement from countries Ministries of Education per student per year, perhaps based on Stanford's tuition - and which is something WUaS has communicated with MIT OCW Executive Director Cecilia d'Oliveira).

All of this would have much impact on trade wars, tariffs, FIRRMA, and CFIUS (and perhaps your endeavors as well in the field of law) - and related processes in many many countries even. (Danish, I noticed you went to Oxford, - and such questions will be playing out very differently in the British Isles; am curious to stay in touch about this as well).

Thank you and very nice to meet you. And looking forward to further communication about this.

Best regards,
Scott
