Bilva: Music Playing Spaces on Wednesday and Friday evenings, Online, Open & Free, in Google+ group video Hangouts, Jamming online eventually, World_University_Music_School

Music Playing Spaces, online and free, in Google+ Hangout group video happen occasionally (MWF at 4pm Pacific Time ?)

where you can musically play what you're working on,

and I'll do the same,

(with an invitation to play, or sing, on your own around these times often independently).

Let me know if you're interested above -

and I'll invite you to the G+ video Hangout then ...

social, music practicing on the web.

Get out your musical instrument,

and play what you'd like,

socially yet independently -

we mute ourselves yet still can text -

flexibly and openly.

If you're interested in playing, add me in Google +,

Scott MacLeod - worlduniversityandschool@gmail.com -

https://plus.google.com/u/0/115890623333932577910/posts -

and let me know here, too.

(We've been holding a Music Playing Space for some months, now, and this music-play-space has been bagpiping-oriented, so far, but all instruments are welcome. See for example: http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2011/12/egret-music-playing-practicing-online.html).

(For further playing, check out World University and School's free, open, wiki

'Practicing/Playing a Musical Instrument' page:

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Practicing_-_Playing_a_Musical_Instrument) ...

I'd like to begin more online, real time, musical collaborations,

for jamming, improvisation, and learning these with digital technologies, too,

and hope to expand these Music Playing Spaces to daily,

and at different times :)

... would to contribute to generating a musical culture,

where many, many people make music and

communicate musically many hours a day,

and significantly through WUaS's musical subjects,

some of the many you can find at the Music School -

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Music_School.

Palash: How valuable 1-to-1 connecting via video is, especially for facilitating enjoyable learning, even vis-a-vis small groups, MIT OCW High School-centric, (CC licensed), free 'International Baccalaureate Diploma and Programme' (highest quality - e.g. P.A. Exeter?, Boston Latin?, STEM?), United Nations' languages only - Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Russian, Spanish ... as a feed-in to 'The College at WUaS,' Excited about the possibility of hiring so many foreign students particularly in these great U.S. universities

In teaching a musical instrument,

I'm seeing how valuable 1-to-1 connecting is,

especially for facilitating enjoyable learning,

and specific kinds of 'flow' (enjoyment) experiences in learning,

even vis-a-vis small groups ....

(WUaS is planning to use the Conference Method,

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Conference_Method_of_Teaching_and_Learning,

accrediting on MIT OCW / edX hopefully with MITx / HarvardX professors and

WUaS-hired graduate student instructors, to start).

Mountain laurel: Like Reed College, and like Harvard College, the colleges at Yale, Princeton, Stanford and Cambridge, but free, online and developing (and changing with the web), 'The College at WUaS,' hope that edX (MITx/HarvardX) professors will be WUaS's first online, talking-head faculty on the web

Like Reed College, and like Harvard College, the colleges at Yale, Princeton, Stanford and Cambridge,

but free, online and developing

(and changing with the web),

'The College at WUaS' -

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/The_College_at_World_University_and_School -

plans to be world-class,

as wiki.

I hope that edX (MITx/HarvardX) professors will be

WUaS's first online, talking-head faculty on the web,

WUaS is eeking overachievers, and to cultivate overachievers, especially vis-a-vis enjoyment in learning (flow: the psychology of optimal experience, i.e. 'absorbed mind' / challenge at the right level :) ...

Varied thrush: Bill Gates and NYT's Tom Friedman on education (video), "Seek out private instruction" in Marsalis's and Ma's 'Guidelines for Practicing a Musical Instrument,' WUaS Music School and Instruction?, 'International Baccalaureate Diploma and Degree Program' at WUaS with Friends?

Bill mentions here a 5 to 1 ratio as beneficial in teaching,

to teach using the Conference Method -

Here Wynton Marsalis and Yo yo Ma's first suggestion is to "Seek out private instruction" -

http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm -

in their 'Guidelines for Practicing a Musical Instrument' ...

World University and School's Music School

Dear San Francisco Friends' Meeting,

Here are the beginnings of World University and School's

'International Baccalaureate Diploma and Degree Program' -

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/WUaS_International_Baccalaureate_Diploma_and_Programme -

with part of this I.B. Programme planned to be

MIT-OpenCourseWare High School-centric (Creative Commons' licensed),

online (e.g. in virtual worlds and Google Hangouts - to increase access),

focusing on these United Nations' languages only -

Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), English, French, Russian, Spanish ..., so not only in English)

and integrated with the MIT-OCW-centric World University,

but part of which could also be on-the-ground at a developing SF Friends' high school.

Darlingtonia californica pitcher plant: Virtual Choir at World University and School would love to collaborate with Eric Whitacre, So many 'singing' links at WUaS, Lag on the internet and collaborative, real time music

http://www.oregonwild.org/wilderness/oregons-yellowstone/swr-images/Darlingtonia.SLonsdale%20(no%20border)%20(Medium).JPG/image_preview

Virtual Choir at World University and School - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Virtual_Choir - would love to collaborate with Eric Whitacre, as well as facilitate singing of all kinds, chorally, online in collaborative real time ...

Eric writes recently: "I'm working on a new piece for choir and percussion ensemble, "Higher, Faster, Stronger", and I just wrote an 18 part chord. Tied the record. Woo hoo!"

*

So many 'singing' links at WUaS, already ...

http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wikSinging#World_University_and_School_Links/

*

At this point the lag on the web makes it pretty much impossible for people to play music together (and the web may also be out of tune, pitching things up - I don't have perfect pitch, is it?), but I'm hopeful we'll have a collaborative, real time, musical web in the not too distant future ... see, for example ... http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2012/06/milky-way-san-francisco-focused-online.html ... even with an all instrument / all language Music School with jamming possibilities ... http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Music_School ... :)
