Hi Ed,
Not sure how close the earthquake to me was. How about to you, re Bay Area earthquake lore and people's understanding of its science? Looking forward too to your presents ...
Am reminded, as I wait to hear back about the MIT Media Lab faculty position, of your intention and plans, as you were finishing up your medical education at UCSF (in the late 1990s), of developing your career at Kaiser Richmond. And you were able to realize this. Kaiser Permanente Richmond Medical Center is in a very urban part of the Bay Area (like MIT is in Cambridge), - and this plan seems to have worked out for you. And you've been very steady with this focus, your career, (your family too), and working there.
And your career choice and place of work, and realizing this, seem relevant re the Desiderata too - http://mwkworks.com/desiderata.html - and hopefully re my career potential of becoming a faculty member at the Media Lab.
Fondly,
Scott

Hi M,
Curious if I get this faculty position at the MIT Media Lab what a research group I might lead would be called.
Like Hiroshi Ishii's (Media Lab associate director)
Tangible Media Group
Tangible Media Group
or Patti Maes's
Fluid Interfaces' Group
Fluid Interfaces' Group
or Mitch Resnick's
Lifelong Kindergarten Group
Lifelong Kindergarten Group
World University and School media group?
Realistic Virtual Harbin media group?
Actual-Virtual Universe Creation group?
All-languages, all nation states' World University and School group?

It would be great if MIT (re CC-4 MIT OCW in 5 languages, and for undergraduate and Ph.D. degrees) and Stanford (for law and medicine OCW, and online degrees, in all ~200 countries' official languages) could take on the organizational aspects of A) World University and School and B) the WUaS Corp.
