Wiki Genealogy Feed ~ WikiTree genealogy platform . . .
and while coding for 7.8 billion people possibly would be very attractive to potential investors, I head at WUaS in even further overwhelmingly big directions for related coding: 1) for the genomes of all individuals of all species ever since the beginning of life
Mark,
Thanks, and Seasons Greetings again! - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/12/wild-pomegranate-burchellia-bubalina.html (see these 5 items) - and while coding for 7.8 billion people possibly would be very attractive to potential investors, I head at WUaS in even further overwhelmingly big directions for related coding: 1) for the genomes of all individuals of all species ever since the beginning of life, and 2) a realistic virtual earth for everything, for evolutionary biology (which would include environments through time), and from the beginning of the universe, at the Street View, cellular, molecular and atomic levels too. Some statistical choices will be made, but am appreciating the opt-in aspect of WikiTree from a SINGLE family tree genealogy perspective, presumably for 7.8 billion on the planet and all of their ancestors they research (and so not excluding Africans, for example, and for people in all 54 of the countries in Africa, - and in the rest of the ~146 countries per the Olympics). I think the opt in aspect, just in terms of genealogy genetics, given the abundance of genealogy platforms, and their changes through time, will lead to a kind of self-selection process, but I also think that planning for all 7.8 billion people's genetic lineages will open vital and essential data-sharing academic research possibilities.
(This is a new way of conceiving of the 'metaverse' ... re virtual worlds universes as one somehow ... )
As you may know, World University, brainstorming-wise, is thinking in terms of the genetics of speakers from all 7,139 living languages, as one way of focusing some of the research questions that faculty at WUaS might eventually be asking. (What is the relationship between any given language and an individual's genome, since all 7.8 billion people were born hard-wired to speak language, fascinatingly). Another way to say this might be how to read our Great Great Grandfather James MacLeod's genome, or James Alan MacLeod's genome (whom we met at your place in Bonny Eagle, Maine this summer), to begin to explore if and how we could see that ancestors spoke Scottish Gaelic.
In a related brainstorming way, and regarding the genetics of vaccines, in a single realistic virtual earth for genetics, please see these w recent Tweets (here too -http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/little-finland-red-rock-formation-in.html - with images, and where Cambridge Univ's Hannah Currant is a geneticist with some Scottish background).
Can we code a #DigitalHumanEye to SEE? For #IndividualHumanEyes w #FilmTo3D App? Can we code this for brain neural processes? Can we measure this w brainwave headsets too? How to model this at #StreetView, cell & molecule levels, & even for #ArmToEye gene #VaccineAdministration?
Modeling an human eye for #ActualVirtual #PhysicalDigital iterations at the #StreetView, cellular & molecular levels, & even for #ArmToEye #VaccineAdministration in #AvatarBotElectronicMedicalRecords (for 7.8 billion peops) & For #IndividualHumanEyes w #FilmTo3D App? Data where?
Am not sure, if somehow I were to travel to Harvard at the end of this week for a Harvard Smartphone's Symposium on 11/5/21 (http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/uluru.html), and meet too with the Boston Globe, how I would talk effectively - pitch - coding for 7.8 billion people for a variety of reasons ... but stay tuned.
(My first cousin, Mark MacLeod, on my father's side, and a Stanford alumnus ... living in New England, after living in Newfoundland, Canada, for years ... and a great digital family geneaologist :) ... and see related label - SGKMacLeod family history - for him elsewhere in blog

to me
Scott,
Thanks for the note.
All is well here in Maine. My son Kyle and his girlfriend have been visiting from Newfoundland during this past week. We even took a quick trip to NYC to see 'Come From Away', a fun musical.
I do some work in wikitree but mostly still work in Ancestry, FTDNA and MyHeritage, where DNA tools and data are found. I'm finding more concrete evidence of our connection to the MacLeods of Lewis who were quite distinct from the MacLeods of Harris/Dunvegan. But I'm still trying to fill in some gaps between James's father Norman and other MacLeod lines in Raasay.
I hope you don't mind me saying that your repeated references to coding for 'all 7.8 billion people' doesn't serve you well. It sounds amazing, I guess, but please understand that no serious person is looking for this and it does not solve any critical problem or serve any real need. In fact, it's completely ludicrous and unachievable in anyone's lifetime. There are far more interesting problems to be solved in genealogy and some very smart people are working on these using the latest AI tools. If World University is really going to make an impact in genealogy, I suggest it NOT focus on or talk about coding for all 7.8 billion people and their ancestors.
All the best,
Mark

Hi Mark,
Just checking in to say hi. How are you?
And now for something completely different, I thought you might be interested: I receive these WikiTree emails DAILY, and don't find them intrusive (since for one, they aren't selling anything), and could find them enormously edifying if I glanced everyday at them (but I don't yet) for learning further about my own family history (and even through building out ...), for learning about this as WikiTree develops too coding & IT-wise. (And, as you know I think, wiki WUaS is seeking to code for all 7.8 billion people's genomes, and their ancestors, and potentially to work with WikiTree too, since they're wiki and planning a single family tree ... so presumably for all 7.8 billion people thanks to IT genetics ...) ... When will there be a new merging of and sharing of data between all the genealogy platforms, I wonder (since this has happened before betw Genealogy.com FamilyTree Broderbund etc .. )?

Jim, All,
Thanks again for your email this morning, so much.
In thinking about this Harvard Smartphone's & Weareable's Symposium next Friday 11/5/21 in Cambridge - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/uluru.html?m=0 - in which I'm a presenter now online, and related 'wristlets' - for quantifying meditation in the Harbin Hot Springs' warm pool, I recently found this Fitness Tracker Smart Watch for Blood Pressure + https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1453587343688957953?s=20 - for $10.65 from Walmart. I found this particular Blood pressure smart watch because I was just looking at this Stanford Medicine Chair and Cardiologist Bob Harrington MD Tweet - https://twitter.com/HeartBobH/status/1453546730452967424?s=20 - and since my father also was taking half an aspirin in the last 2 decades or so of his life as a blood thinner (all here - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/cappadocia-chimneys-in-goreme-turkey.html?m=0 ).
And while I think I would only use such a Walmart Fitness Tracker Smart Watch for Blood Pressure mostly in state parks pet your email and re IT ESPECIALLY, (and perhaps once a weekend on a walk around dusk up to the nearby UU Church of Kensington Berkeley, on and out of an electronic shield bag, to begin to log weekly related data ... and due to the 'culture' of the UU Church hill destination somehow, with parallels to the culture of Harbin, of which I'm an ethnographer, and researcher) ... since these devices, while insecure, are designed to be always on for distributed computing's benefits ... go figure. :)
I also think that for trying out the waterproof smartphones and wristlets at this one day Harvard Symposium on 11/5/21 in person could be invaluable, and which devices only might be accessible there, ... being there would be invaluable, and that the Harvard Smartphone's Symposium of November 2022 would be way too late for emerging Harbin Hot Springs' Ethnographic research project developments.
Not all fitness trackers can hang out in the deep end. If you want to count your laps with something you can wear in the pool, check out one of the best waterproof fitness trackers we've tested.
I also think the best WATERPROOF brainwave headsets, initially for EEG but developing for all kinds of brain research, and which are integrate-able eventually with, say, the waterproof Pixel Smartphone Android OS device - with waterproof digital mask (post Google Cardboard) to slip smartphone into at this stage ... will benefit enormously from the new Google Tensor SoC chip ... and for developing remote neuroscience research web streamed into Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records (for 7.8 billion people, brainstorming-wise), a WUaS project, as well as a Harbin research project, and as I have laid out in my accepted Abstract and now 1 Slide Presentation for this upcoming Friday 11/5/22 at Harvard Medical School ...
See, too -
Google has unveiled its latest smartphone, containing the tech giant's first self-designed computer chip. The Pixel 6 contains Google's "Tensor" processor, which it says enables new phone features powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning
AND
THIS IS THE PIXEL 6, GOOGLE’S TAKE ON AN ‘ULTRA HIGH END’ PHONE
Google’s new Tensor SoC is the heart of its next phone
'Kicking the tires' actually and physically at this Harvard Smartphone's Symposium on F 11/5/21 has much merit, but I think I'll be doing it virtually from the SF Bay Area ... Alas!

Hi Ed, Ma, Jim, Larry, Johnny, Sid, Sandy, All,
Ed, remember when that Amazon trick driver Nozama truck driver may have been via GPS - and your checking out that 'noncreditable death threat' at Skyline and Pinehurst near Canyon - videoing me with his truck in 2 different locations near Arlington and Brewster, and then I took a picture of his truck and license plate - and he called out that he didn't want to be photographed? - and I deleted the photo from my smartphone but it still may be in the smartphone trash ...
Well just now around where, on Arlington Blvd, other GPS identity activity may have occurred on my walks, which I've messaged about ... Something similar may have occurred , such that with 3 vehicles active in the same spot, I crossed in front of an Amazon trick with headlights on, Just after dark ... mask off
... On a walk up to the UU Church ...
Not seeking to become a victim, and recognizing that my walks may be recorded too in Google Maps, Am just recording another related event ...
The WUaS Corporation just took a giant step forward this week by receiving and paying a tax bill from the CA FTB .. and I'd like to grow this ...
Jim, is there anyway to mask identity on Google Maps?
If Nozama is 'TRICKING' its drivers (as payment even) speculatively , am continuing to call for abolition ... Re law enforcement too re IT especially (and in planning to code for all people on planet).
Thanks for reading! Down with modern 'slavry' to protect people from the illegal sex industry ( for one ) but in many ways
Am living in a safe house, band may be seeking asylum in the spring

to me
Hi Scott,
My walks are mostly on trails in state parks - walking on the road with traffic can be dangerous. People get hit by cars everyday it seems. The delivery van people fly down roads. People on bicycles get hit everyday as well it seems. Hope you can find good safe places to walk with no vehicles.
If you carry a smartphone, you are being tracked, unless you turn the smartphone off and put it in an electronic shield bag. Just take it out and turn it on if you need it.
When not hiking state park trails, I like to stay at home and cook, read, and write - working on my next book "Service in the AI Era".
BTW - great picture of you and your Mother at Stanford. My Mom is with the angels already.
When I see the language technology that can help WUaS achieve its ambition goal, I will let you know - I predict 2026-2028 it should be doable. We will see. Maybe I am too optimistic about technological advancements.
With aging reversal genetic drug therapies emerging (if), am seeking for all of us to live a very long time, especially my mother and brother. Condolences that your mother has passed away. My father came back from Belize on a Semester at Sea winter trip with a serious brain injury in 2004 and died in 2007, so am continuing to learn from this and be careful (he was a high achiever and risk taker too) ... As well as to circulate in seeking to begin a family (with a wonderful MD in her mid 20s? whom I connect with naturally), and potentially for 3 or so kids.
Besides Harbin Ethnography book #2 (potentially writing it in Google Street View with Time Slider, text in the sidebar, and translating it into many languages with translate, and also working on my 2nd Scottish Small Pipes' album, this one of Piobaireachd classical music, and practicing Yoga), Work CC-4 MIT OCW-CENTRIC wiki World University and School's near term goals prior to moving forward with languages' technology (in 2026-2028 per you, but before too) develop daily in blog and monthly in WUaS Monthly Business Meeting - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/10/Ceropegia%20stapeliiformis%20Minutes%20for%20101621a%20W.html. Glad that the WUAS CORPORATION took a big step forward this past week (below & thank you, Larry). Planning to code for all the people on planet, in all our 7k languages, brainstorming wise is already beginning as you may have read.
Appreciating walks nevertheless in this ongoing time of alienation from the coronavirus pandemic self-quarantine for their connection ... And will also leave smartphone behind at times, along the safe road I live on up to the UU CHURCH OF KENSINGTON, for example, and in state parks, for the benefits of getting out easily and readily (writing to paper for example while walking).
Exploring the possibility of heading to the Harvard Smartphone's Symposium for 11/5/21 and making contact with the Boston Globe for WUaS too, if at all possible. An invitation from Harvard, while living in a 'safe house' - and calling for abolition - would make life less alienating, more safe re my whistle blowing, and open horizons in many ways.
If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the concise email regarding your goals in life. Arranged marriages are still common in India, but not sure where else. Do Quakers do arranged marriages? I need to read more about Quakers. I grew up in Maine, and the Shakers did not believe they should pro-create (I think), but wonder if they had marriage. So many questions. Personally not big on life extension technologies - just don't have the time (pun intended) - but at the end of this video Steve Jurvetson provides some interesting views on why VCs are seeking to invest in it.
I am more an occasional 1-1 emailer, but I try to read all incoming messages - just not always able to respond - hope you understand. You do so many things, it is sometimes hard for me to follow everything, but I do see you as a "go-getter/kind person" with all you do. Sometimes it is hard to focus on one goal, but I do hope you find a kind and loving wife, and you take good care of each other.
You may enjoy some of the following - from my reading lists:
Hagel (2021) Journey Beyond Fear: The three pillars of positivity to build your success – recommending this book to young people starting their careers during the pandemic that I mentor – suggesting they invest the time to read this book, and then compare Hagel’s three pillars – narrative, passion, and platform to Nightingale’s three pillars of advice – set goals (narrative), service to others (passion), and faith that you can learn to do anything you set your mind to do (platform).
(Fiction) Martha Wells (2017) All Systems Red – robots who are responsible entities (slavery)
Will keep looking for technologies that can help you on your WUaS mission - that is a moonshot whose time will come. I can only imagine what it would be like to learn everything from a Cherokee language perspective. Facebook does great harm when they amplify falsehoods, fear, and anger, but they are gathering datasets that anthropologists may find fascinating. If Facebook could do less harm, they might make a good ally for cross-cultural learning. Travel is the best way to learn and appreciate other cultures, and stop fear and hatred. The pandemic has made travel harder, and fear has grown as a result.
Stay safe. The next few weeks are super busy for me, and I may not have time to keep up with all incoming emails. Hope you understand. Will jump in with thoughts when I can.
Thanks, -Jim

Thanks, Jim,
Appreciating the brilliance of your reply, and its kindness especially. Wow! - and knowing you now for around a decade. In my late teens and my twenties too, had thought and talked about (exploring this idea for me too) arranged marriages - but appreciate my mother's thinking about connecting naturally. Hoping to meet and connect with a loving bliss neurophysiology kind friend (perhaps learning from 2 past mutual loves in particular). Am reading your email also as a kind of helpful mentoring.
Aging reversal Genetics' for family along with longevity vaccines would be a fascinating investment; didn't hear about this in the last 5 minutes of the brilliant Jurvetson interview but will check. Am curious about his Estonian roots and regarding Harvard's Jukka-Pekka Onnela's Finnish origin. But I think waiting for an invitation from Harvard (like the CA FTB tax bill) has much merit going forward.
Thanks for your wide ranging reading & video suggestions ... Fascinating time we live in for sharing ideas - and your engagement with these service oriented readings is an inspiration. Will read further. Helpful ways to focus my bodymind too. Seeking to teach 'Society, information technology and the global university' again - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html.
For the Bay Area Stammtisch last Saturday I talked about 'Technological Determinism' from my and a Castellian perspective - in German and English (below). May do something similar today for this at 10:30am.
Seeking to grow datasets for perhaps Avatar Bots (and re their or WUaS's Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records for 7.8 billion people) but culturally (alternative culture too) re actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' project ... Where people are sharing much of what they are doing thinking feeling their culture in language ... Twitter which is an Ally in your sense (and seems to have coded for some forms of integrity in communication) could be great for WUaS to collaborate further with, since they are in multiple languages, they have a fairly large user base, - and am appreciating the new conversations they're rolling out.
And below, please find the text (in German and in English) of what I said about 'technological determinism,' from my perspective (rather than Karl Marx's or many other social theorists or philosophers).
Alles Gute, Scott
PS
What is technological determinism?
"Technological determinism is a reductionist theory that assumes that a society's technology determines the development of its social structure and cultural values."
"Der technologische Determinismus ist eine reduktionistische Theorie, die davon ausgeht, dass die Technologie einer Gesellschaft die Entwicklung ihrer sozialen Struktur und ihrer kulturellen Werte bestimmt."

Jim,
Thanks again for your emails.
One further thought per you last paragraph or so re cultural data sources for large numbers of individuals for their own Avatar Bots even ...
The idea for a realistic virtual earth for Anthropology with realistic avatars representing real people (at times ...fantastical too) - eventually perhaps becoming free digital avatar agents even, possibly which code could inform robots too (but also as digital twins for tele-robotic surgery per Avatar Bot Electronic Medical Records) is ...
1
One where we can add video of people speaking and acting, making art or designing computer chips etc ... And code would transpose this into Avatar Bots ... So potentially we could have all 1.3 Billion people in India each their own further build-able avatars (with adding more video of an avatar (think in Street View with Time Slider too - as Pegman' grows ) ... And think group build-able cartoon-esque Second Life too with its avatar templates ... and group build-able islands and water and hair and sandboxes for playing with building ... Where avatar Bots also have 'voice' (where you and I' and can speak with each other from anywhere we are in the world) ... But with what other already cultural existing data sources, and where will this data be stored ? Twitter, Google's ?
2
And re ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy ...with Harbin folks even (and anyone) building realistic virtual Harbin/earth in Street View with Time Slider, in whatever ways they code or create (much more open platform than sort of easily group build able SL) and decades into the future ... I don't know if Twitter's feeds or profiles could inform very well historical thinking for eventual, speaking, communicating avatars ...but it could be a possible starting place ... And with something similar from Gmail and (closed now) G Plus perhaps ... If an individual agreed they wanted initial scripts for their talking avatars to, continuously developing, and informing their own realistic Avatar's neural developments ... With a language focus ...
In piping, Ceol Mor ('music big' in Scots' Gaelic) is the classical bagpiping music, Piobaireachd, and Ceol Beag (music little') ... all with different accent marks, and spelling too,

Living in a 'safe house' and potentially seeking asylum in the spring (regarding perpetrators, offenders, purveyors of the illegal sex industry worldwide, and their latent networks of violence ... and where is law enforcement in all of this, and now with information technologies in 'internetity' which comes after modernity and post-modernity and advertising discourse ... as a condition, or discourse (or culture or milieu or context, all anthropologically too) in social science that's informing many aspects of our subjectivity I hypothesize :)

Bitte bleiben Sie auf dem Laufenden über den Bay Area Stammtisch nächste Woche (da ich möglicherweise auf Reisen bin und ihn daher nicht abhalten würde)
Please stay tuned about next week's Bay Area Stammtisch (since I may be traveling and wouldn't hold it therefore)
Alles Gute, Scott
Poste die meisten davon samstags in meinem täglichen Blog, mit dem deutschen Label (aber manchmal ganz unten im Blogpost),
Am posting most of these on Saturdays in my daily blog, with the German label (but sometimes at the bottom of the blog post),
And below, please find the text (in German and in English) of what I said about 'technological determinism,' from my perspective (rather than Karl Marx's or many other social theorists or philosophers).
Alles Gute, Scott
What is technological determinism?
"Technological determinism is a reductionist theory that assumes that a society's technology determines the development of its social structure and cultural values."
"Der technologische Determinismus ist eine reduktionistische Theorie, die davon ausgeht, dass die Technologie einer Gesellschaft die Entwicklung ihrer sozialen Struktur und ihrer kulturellen Werte bestimmt."
There are two general frameworks and hypotheses that frame these questions, revolving around technological determinism questions -
Es gibt zwei allgemeine Rahmen und Hypothesen, die diese Fragen umrahmen und sich um Fragen des technologischen Determinismus drehen:
The first says that Technology shapes us through forming information 'structures' in society.
Die erste besagt, dass Technologie uns durch die Bildung von Informationsstrukturen in der Gesellschaft formt
which then shapes our subjectivity.
die dann unsere Subjektivität prägt.
But IT offers different ways of expressing oneself, See for example, Sherry Turkle's - "Life on the Screen"
Aber die IT bietet verschiedene Möglichkeiten, sich auszudrücken, siehe zum Beispiel Sherry Turkle - "Life on the Screen"
And the other version relating to questions of technological determinism
Und die andere Version zu Fragen des technologischen Determinismus
says that people capture technology and can become super people
sagt, dass Menschen Technologie erfassen und Supermenschen werden können
or it gives us more control.
oder es gibt uns mehr Kontrolle.
And the reality is that people are part of society.
Und die Realität ist, dass Menschen Teil der Gesellschaft sind.
