Delighted to share a landmark preprint from our lab, using genome language models and AI agents for biological discovery and genome mining!

The stretches of DNA between protein-coding genes are often called the genome’s “dark matter,” but they are far from empty. They encode RNA molecules that sense metabolites, regulate genes, and control some of molecular biology's most important tools (such as programmable genome editors e.g. CRISPR/bridge)

Much of this biology is unexplored. One reason is that RNAs can retain similar structures and functions even as their DNA sequences change dramatically, making their relationships difficult to recognize with conventional computational tools

Stanford HAI Accessible Agentic AI Workshop ~ with Professor Sean Follmer
Friday, November 6th from 9:30am to 5:00pm
Stanford, CA

"AI agents can now act across apps on our behalf, which opens up a possibility: technology that adapts to each person, instead of asking people to adapt to it. This hands-on, one-day workshop brings together people with lived experience of disability, researchers, designers, and developers to shape what that should look like, and what it shouldn't. Disabled participants' expertise will be central to the day. Working in small teams, you'll take a real access need from scenario to prototype, and think through the risks and tradeoffs, from privacy to agents getting it wrong. We'll provide an initial toolkit, but teams are free to use whatever tools and approaches they like."

Practical Details: 

• No coding experience is needed. Teams will mix skills and backgrounds.

• Participants will receive $250, and transportation costs within the Bay Area will be covered for both participants and support people.

• Lunch will be provided.

• Sean requests that participants bring their laptop or let him know if you need one for the workshop.
