Asteroids: "Astronaut Ed Lu: Charting the High Frontier of Space" (Stanford talk) .. Looking forward to staying in touch about fairness / equity in mapping asteroids both re avoiding impact and mining them - and from all ~200 countries and universities in them, re World University and School * * * Stanford - Space Law and Human Rights: An Exploration of Regime Interactions on the Final Frontier, Space Law and Maritime Law at WUaS planned in each of all ~200 countries' official languages, Since the universe is a vast place re mapping it, I'm hopeful we can engage questions of justice and law re fairness and equity questions in these early days of 'Charting the High Frontier of Space.'

Thanks, Ed Lu, for your great Stanford talk yesterday - "Astronaut Ed Lu: Charting the High Frontier of Space" https://events.stanford.edu/events/815/81586/ ... Looking forward to staying in touch about fairness / equity in mapping asteroids, both re avoiding impact and mining them - and with data and STEM from all ~200 countries - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Nation_States - and universities in them, re World University and School - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - which is like Wikipedia in its 300 languages with CC-4 MIT OCW in its 5 languages - https://ocw.mit.edu - and with regard to World Univ and Sch seeking to create a realistic virtual earth / Universe at the Street View with TIME SLIDER / Maps / Earth, cellular and atomic levels. Thank you.

Since the universe is a vast place re mapping it, I'm hopeful we can engage questions of justice and law re fairness and equity questions in these early days of 'Charting the High Frontier of Space.' (Am approaching questions of social justice, fairness and equity in space from a Quaker / Friendly / nontheist f/Friends' perspective).

Dear Matthew, and Beth,

Thanks for your fascinating talk yesterday - https://events.stanford.edu/events/812/81293/
With an interest in Actual-Virtual, Physical-Digital I.T. correspondence, I asked the question about how developing modeling and mapping of the space, and especially with regards to emergent and developing legal questions and law, would affect questions of war, and potentially lessening the likelihood of this.

I ask this question partly out of seeking to develop a realistic virtual universe (think Google Street View with time slider / Maps / Earth / TensorFlow + into, conceptually, a kind of Google Universe / Galaxy project, and also re my actual-virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic project, which seeks to create a realistic virtual Harbin for ethnographic comparison.

I also ask this as the founder and president of World University and School, which is like Wikipedia in ~300 languages with MIT OpenCourseWare in 5 languages, and which not only seeks to create major online universities in each of all ~200 countries' official / main languages, but with online law schools for online law degrees in these countries.

Here are two relevant beginning wiki pages in this vein, and to give you an idea of how WUaS works:

Check out the MIT OCW first - eventually for credit toward online degrees - (if there is any). As a wiki, like Wikipedia articles, people can add further resources, or teach to their web cameras etc.

WUaS is currently seeking online OpenCourseWare, beyond MIT OCW's ~2,500 undergraduate and graduate courses in English, and the MIT OpenCourseWare in 4 other languages, for both Space Law and Maritime Law plus. And it's looking like some law OpenCourseWare, possibly toward degrees, may emerge out of an unfolding collaboration with affiliates of Stanford Law (and re Stanford Law CodeX).

Thanks too so much for mentioning this "Astronaut Ed Lu: Charting the High Frontier of Space" talk - https://events.stanford.edu/events/815/81586/ - which I found fascinating. It looks like Ed may be leading a mapping / modeling of Asteroids and potentially in the Google Street View ecosystem. I blogged a bit about all of this today - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/12/asteroids-astronaut-ed-lu-charting-high.html.

Will a recording of your excellent talk become available online?

Thank you and it would be great to communicate further about all of this.

All the best,
Scott
