Hi H,
Good video, and headlines - https://www.wsj.com/articles/north-korea-decoders-offer-dire-warnings-about-nuclear-program-1507195803 - which I just saw you post here - https://twitter.com/henry_cutter/status/916337887544860676 - and which I re-posted here - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch. Glad there's kind of a Scottish element in some of the interpretations in the video.
Am heading to the Computer History Museum next week (after not going there for a few years) to an interview with Fernando Pereira by NYT's technology writer John Markoff (whom I thought had retired from the NYTs) on "The Understanding Computer" - https://connect.computerhistory.org/pages/events/2017-10-fernando-pereira . Haven't had much luck with getting the word out about either World University and School or my "Naked Harbin Ethnography" book (https://twitter.com/HarbinBook) with the Computer History Museum, or the NYTs, but it will be good to hear this talk, and to meet John Markoff again (as well as John Hollar, its longtime CEO and President - who picks great speakers).
Not clear whether WSJ book editor Robert Messenger received my Harbin book review copy or not, but I continue to blog about it regularly with a post here from 2008 - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2008/08/island-virtual-harbin-ethnography.html (in this label currently - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/Harbin%20ethnography) including, for example, re photo permissions - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2017/09/white-bellied-heron-wide-open-field-for.html (at the bottom of this post) - and hope to get a research group - http://www.scottmacleod.com/research-group.html - together when Harbin opens in spring 2018 (they postponed opening from this week until spring 2018, in order to build a new Watsu pool(s) on Mainside near the other main pools), and partly to create a realistic virtual Harbin/earth for actual / virtual ethnographic comparison, something I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy - as a new social science method.
Glad that CC MIT OCW-centric in 7 languages (and Yale OYC-centric) wiki non-profit 501 (c) (3) World University and School has matriculated our first class for this autumn, with online classes underway, as well as forked successfully earlier this year into a second parallel entity, the WUaS Corporation, which is a for-profit general stock company. As you know WUaS is planning to be in all ~200 countries' official languages as major universities (Harvards/MITs/Stanfords/Cambridges) offering free CC OCW university and high school degrees, as well as in 7,099 living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning. On the WUaS Corp side, these countries and languages are all planned as academic markets. Glad too that WUaS has a brand new wiki wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org.
While both WUaS and my Harbin book are interesting intellectually, as well as being a bit radical, I think my Harbin project which will involve developing a realistic virtual earth at the cellular, atomic and sub-atomic levels (think Google BRAIN and with Google Streetview/Maps/Earth with TIME SLIDER and group build-able like MineCraft/Unity3D/SL/OpenSim, and all 8,444 entries in languages in Glottolog).
Warmly,
Scott

My Harbin book is published in the new Academic Press at World University and School, planned for all 7,943 + languages with machine translation, A.I. and machine learning. In my book I also plan to develop a realistic virtual earth and virtual Harbin Hot Springs’ field site (e.g. in Google Street View/Maps/Earth with time slider with a realistic OpenSimulator/Second Life for group building, conceptually, and in all 7,097+ living languages). This would be for STEM researchers’ modeling in all languages, and also function as a “classroom” for anthropology and many other social science and STEM academic disciplines.

It’s a lovely book and also innovate and original in its ethnographic approach to comparison as well as making as anthropology.

CC World University and School, which is like CC Wikipedia in 358 languages with CC MIT OpenCourseWare in 7 languages and CC Yale OpenYaleCourses began on Monday this week our 2nd semester in a row as a pro bono "client" in a UC Berkeley Law "New Business Practicum" class, to file the for-profit legal papers (to complement our 501 c 3 non-profit status currently), forking now legally and innovatively before we've become financially operational. WUaS will potentially also explore filing an IPO in a third semester of this "New Business Practicum" class beginning in January 2017. A book review for my actual-virtual Harbin book by the WSJ would help WUaS's Academic Press launch successfully, as well as gain readers of my "Naked Harbin Ethnography"!
