Dear Larry, Board, and All, 

Here's my first draft of an email to MIT President Rafael Reif, which we touched on in WUaS Monthly Business Meeting on Saturday. I think you know the language conventions of MIT, as an alumnus (and regarding your wife, Kim, too), but here's a beginning toward succinctness:


Dear MIT President Rafael Reif, 

I'm writing to explore possible collaboration ideas between MIT and CC-4 MIT OpenCourseWare-centric wiki World University and School, planned in ~200 countries' official / main languages, and in all 7,117 known living languages as wiki schools for open teaching and learning. 

In terms of what MIT would get from this, see these 15 planned WUaS revenue streams: https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2020/04/15-planned-wuas-revenue-streams-both.html.

For your information, WUaS is 2 legal entities: 1) a 501 (c) 3 federal nonprofit entity, at the same time that WUaS is a nonprofit in the state of California, and 2) a for profit general stock company legal entity in the state of California (see WUaS Corporation's Business Plan - https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2020/04/wuas-corporation-business-plan-april.html). Both wings are planned in all ~200 countries, and in all 7,117 known living languages.   

And WUaS - in terms of what we would get from this - would be able to grow further, as well as matriculate our 2nd online undergraduate class of 500-2000 students this autumn, in English, and as we begin the licensing process with the state of California's Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (and then concurrently accreditation probably with WASC senior), as well as begin to develop our actual-virtual bookstores, computer stores, robotics' stores and hospital technologies' stores for example (see 15 planned revenue streams).

Larry Viehland is the Chair of the Board of World University and School, as well as its CFO, and is also the acting Chair of the Board and acting CFO of the WUaS Corporation.

Dear MIT President Rafael Reif,

I am writing to explore possible collaboration ideas between MIT and World University and School (WUaS). WUaS is developing an on-line, free-to-users’ university and already has a few students. In the next few years, we hope to expand from English into the official or main languages of about 200 major countries. Ultimately, we hope to be able to provide courses in all 7,117 living languages as wiki schools for teaching and learning. What makes us different then is two things: the courses and degrees are now and will remain free to the user and they will become available in any language.

For your information, WUaS contains two legal entities: a 501(c)3 federal nonprofit entity that is a nonprofit in the state of California, and a for-profit general stock company registered in the state of California. The latter is designed to generate funds to support the former, as described in https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2020/04/wuas-corporation-business-plan-april.html).

The main reason for directing this message to you is that many of the on-line courses we make use of were developed by MITx or MIT Open Course Ware under the creative commons 4.0 standard. This means that anyone else, including WUaS and any other part of MIT, is “free to share (copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and adapt (remix, transform and build upon)” the material. Your support of WUaS would likely increase the rate at which such courses are being developed and the range of disciplines that they cover.

Another reason for directing this message to you is that Larry Viehland (MIT ’69) is the Chair of the Board of WUaS.

We would also be able to begin the licensing process with the state of California's Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (and then concurrently, accreditation with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges).

I'm writing to follow up on this thread from some weeks ago. 

Is anyone, any of you know of, developing online post-Lacanian psychoanalysis, in each of all ~200 countries' main languages, in addition to Harvard-excellence psychiatry (as taught in Medical Schools), especially re language and psychotherapy, or talk therapy? 

As just one example where I've observed some need for this: What if people lash out as adults, wrongly and harmfully and unjustly, because they've been abused as children for example? And how to help all people who have been victims, and especially if they begin to perpetrate harm later, for example, (and in Quaker Meetings, for example, or other Friends' groups, and universities too!)?

The big project I'm developing (CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School) seeks to help with this online (in all ~200 countries' main languages, and even eventually with avatar bots), but is in need of resources as well.

As a follow up, online post-Lacanian psychoanalysis, as well as especially psychiatry, would include, of course, online child and adolescent psychiatry in all ~200 countries' official languages, where psychiatry for young people is fairly old and well-established medical discipline (and developing all the time). Friends Hospital in Philadelphia is the oldest continuously operated mental hospital in the USA - https://friendshospital.com (with phone number, if seeking a 2nd opinion, or Friendly evaluation) - since 1813, so Friends / Quakers have a very long history with, and also ethical and legal approaches to, psychiatry in a variety of ways.
