Excellently. Congratulations on having an Intel representative give your first keynote too. I hope your students find their ways into jobs and careers with Intel, a great company to work with, it would seem. Everyone's English was excellent and the mostly Chinese faculty and students I saw are so cosmopolitan!

While there were mentions of Manuel Castells's theorizing of the digital methods and the information age (in your bio, for example), none of the presenters I heard seemed to have read him (as a great social theorist of the internet), so I'd probably explore adding more Castells-informed perspectives, for one, in subsequent CUHK "Digital Methods and Social Development." I attended Castells' "Society and Information Technology" course at UC Berkeley about 15 years ago - and was captivated and riveted but his lectures. I teach a course now on "Information Technology, the Network Society and the Global University" - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html. I hope this course comes into conversation virtually with expressions of global information capitalism I heard (Castells is great in these regards) in your conference too.

In a related vein and re digital methods, I'm also very glad my actual / virtual Harbin Hot Springs' ethnographic book was published in April, with an introduction by UC Berkeley Professor Nelson Graburn - http://www.scottmacleod.com/ActualVirtualHarbinBook.html. My book comes into conversation with Tom Boellstorff's "Coming of Age in Second Life: An Anthropologist Explores the Virtual Human" (Princeton 2008). In this book and in subsequent virtual Harbin projects, I hope to build a film realistic virtual Harbin / virtual earth for STEM research, and planned in all 7,097 living languages - something like Google Street View with time slider with OpenSim/SL (and at the neural/cell nano/atomic levels too) This will film realistic, interactive, 3D, group-build-able, all-languages, with avatars earth also become "classrooms" for startup CC MIT OCW-centric World University and School (STEM-wise as well as ethnographically).

On my book's web page, you'll find two talks I've given at UC Berkeley. The slides from the one I gave in November 2015 lay out further a new digital method I'm calling ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy (re Professor Richard Rogers approach to digital methods). The video is from a Berkeley talk I gave in November 2012 re Harbin ethngraphically. I think the building of a film realistic virtual earth/cosmos will further the growth of the web, as well as the chip industry (Intel) significantly.

I've enjoyed the Friends'Association for Higher Education conferences at both Haverford College, and George Fox University in Oregon - (and your presentation and panels there, Jane, especially. I also gave a presentation at George Fox on Friendly-informed World University and School and Growing the Society of Friends -

Thank you for the updates, Donn, too on the "three criteria for institutional membership were discussed. They were: 1) a clear Quaker tradition; 2) reputable accreditation ( or substantial progress towards such accreditation); 3) and a stable, significant student body," which we had corresponded about this spring.

Concerning these updates, in exploring institutional membership for World University and School in FAHE, startup WUaS will be a pro bono "client" in a UC Berkeley Law class this autumn for the 2nd semester in a row, where we'll develop further in a number of ways legally. Creative Commons' licensed (CC) WUaS is already a 501 c 3 with plans to accredit on CC MIT OpenCourseWare in its 7 languages and CC Yale OYC, to offer online CC Bachelor, Ph.D., Law and M.D. degrees (as well as I.B. high school diplomas eventually) first in English but planned in all 200 countries' main and official languages. WUaS also is seeking to be incubated by the University of California for accreditation in a developing WASC senior / BPPE policies. I'm attaching last month's WUaS minutes from WUaS's open monthly business meeting conducted in the manner of Friends. All of this has bearing on item 2) "reputable accreditation" in your FAHE update, as well as possibly developing a stable student body (of highest achievers, which is a WUaS goal).

Concerning FAHE's item 1, I could share a recent blog post of mine laying out WUaS's clear Quaker traditions, for example, but I wonder if you could please let me know what FAHE might look for here in terms of criteria for this, etc.  The only outreach / advertising WUaS has done is in Western Friend Quaker magazine interestingly. In terms of 3) "a stable, significant student body," WUaS is seeking our first online applicants this autumn from around the worldfrom all 204 nation states (as if applying to Stanford or MIT) to matriculate online for, in a sense, free CC MIT degrees, in the autumn of 2017. If possible, WUaS will matriculate 2000 undergraduate students. Part of our business models' planned revenue streams involves reaching out to Ministries of Education in all countries, both national and local, as if their students were applying to MIT or Stanford which costs $44,000 per year per student; public K-12 education in this country is free to students, as WUaS would like to be at the University level (like some non-US countries are).

Jane, do you think Guilford graduates would be interested in accrediting CC online Ph.D., law and M.D. degrees at WUaS eventually, as well?

Per our after-Meeting conversation today, and Mary's elephant-seeks-a-verterinarian-after-it-was-shot-story, here's the Interspecies' Communication wiki subject at World University and School - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Interspecies_Communications - an example of a wiki subject for open teaching and learning, before CC WUaS moves to a new wiki emerging out of CC Wikidata (developed for CC Wikipedia's 358 languages). How to understand this episode of elephant-human interspecies' communication, in knowledge terms, reasoning even? And check out the ~2 main Quaker wiki subjects / schools on the main Subjects' wiki page - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Subjects (only in English so far) - where we can all create subjects about what we love for open teaching and learning, and which is planned for all 7,097 living languages. In terms of another culture which informs World University and School, which might be more in line with your upcoming geo-spatial informatics (?) studies in Sweden, is our plans to create a virtual Harbin / virtual earth for STEM wiki researchers in all 7,943+ languages to add their own research.  See the slides here from a Berkeley talk I gave last November on my book's web page - http://www.scottmacleod.com/ActualVirtualHarbinBook.html - re ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy. Harbin's alternative culture (counterculture), in many ways emerges from a kind of "hippies to the hot springs" California emergence out of the 1960s and 1970s (Stanford still has some of this faintly too). WUaS would like to create film-realistic interactive 3D group build-able virtual earth with avatars and a universal translator - think Google Street View with time slider with OpenSim - as classrooms (and at the cellular and nano-scales too!).

F/friends "culture" has helped me navigate Harbin's alternative culture, and Harbin's alternative culture has helped me keep Quaker culture in perspective. But per my above email to you (now in the blog), it's STEM CC MIT OCW's culture as well as wiki culture, and also Stanford's culture (excellence with a kind of California laid back-ness, I'd say) - and Reed College's conference method and approach to thinking and undergraduate education - that I'd like to bring online into WUaS's group video Hangout cultures. (I'm an anthropologist - and with regard to Quakers too - hence my focus on culture here :).

WUaS would also like this film realistic virtual earth/cosmos (re the Smithsonian/Harvard's Illustris too) to become a "classroom" - and hopefully to become an augmented reality 15 foot cubed "classroom" around us which we could even bioengineer, again planning for all languages (7,097 living languages). 

How the biological neuron will relate to a computational neuron (re, for example, the Google Brain project's working computational representation of a neuron) and then find form in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Machine Translation, for research, modeling and experimentation - in a film realistic virtual earth with avatars (both realistic and fantastic) will/could help address some of the questions you're asking, as well as address some of the questions I'm interested in re all languages and what these can help us learn about nano, neural as well as sociocultural linguistic communication processes. Re "loving bliss neurophysiology elicitation," i.e. neural cascades of pleasure of certain qualities, and your film-neural processes' "matching" questions, I'm particularly curious about feedback mechanisms for eliciting this brain chemistry when and as we want it, and how to explore an expanding array of qualities of this brain chemistry. Music and films would offer many avenues into marking brain chemistry in terms of such qualities.   

I'm going to revisit your presentation, as well as re-listen to your verbal response to my question from your IBM CSIG talk (I've given a talk on a universal translator in this series too) about my question (and look at Jim's resources), and I know you are busy, but any further off the top of your head thoughts would be appreciated!!! (to reiterate Jim too :).
