Brava Harvard's Amanda Gorman!
"The Poet Amanda Gorman Asked: ‘Where Can We Find Light?’ Ms. Gorman set out to craft a poem that was both hopeful and realistic, one that reflected the political divisions that have fractured the country."

Thanks Wilson McLeod in Edinburgh, - In SF BAY AREA, I get this message "BBC iPlayer only works in the UK. Sorry, it’s due to rights issues. In the UK? Here's some advice."  HAVEN'T yet found a #CyberspacePlacelessBrowser that can stream video (will try Tor) To Scots Gaelic  - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Scottish_Gaelichttps://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Scotland ~

Hi Ma,

Did you get out for a walk today? Am not giving a lesson this evening, since Taylor left his pipes on the airplane coming back from Georgia yesterday (and buying a house it seems) ... but he did pay tuition for Th 1/7/21 this morning and we're planning a lesson in 8 days on Th Jan 28 2021. Glad Magda, the Cambridge / CalTech Genetics' Prof - https://twitter.com/ZernickaGoetz - liked my Tweet about her and George Church's talks yesterday - https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1352388867412750336?s=20 - and another one (see this Twitter feed if interested).

Just texted a version of the following from my walk:

How was your day, Ma? How are you? Am out on a walk 1.8 miles away at UU Church on a bench on a hill above with a 'UU flame' sculpture, and amusingly there's some kindling below ... CULTURALLY safe here away from 'safe house' in this messed up world  ... In a new political climate too ... But I also don't think these UUs are 'my people' (from what I've observed of the few people passing through the empty parking lot / empty church (due to covid-19 pandemic, - and Berserkelely too:)  even if a choir were to start again here in this place, that is physically .... Is this a curious loss of people ness (re troop bonding word too - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2009/05/common-atlantic-slippersnail.html?m=0) and re community word too? ... And in internetity (a social science idea I'm theorizing, relative to modernity (i.e. all the changes in thinking since the two industrial revolutions - since early 1700s even)? Soon to head back on my walk in daylight ... Glad to be connected with people via the internet a bit ... but how to connect with people more I wonder ... (and especially if I were to somehow move back into Canyon ... have blogged about the idea of creating community ... can be done through friendliness, but maybe after Canyon gets somehow cleaned up ... and even re federal authorities somehow???)

On with playing the Desperate Battle of the Birds' Piobaireachd ... :)
Two versions below :)

And have you ever listened to the Scots' language - which besides Scottish Gaelic and English, are the main languages of Scotland. Check out the almost trippy Punny Penny here -https://twitter.com/Lenniesaurus/status/1352337755381112832?s=20 - and below with text :) She's talking about wool :) ... check out her Twitter feed ... can you understand her?

Love, Scott

Fascinating talk by
him implicitly touches on the Actual-Virtual, Physical-Digital ... something I'm writing about today, and about so many other interesting ideas, including faith and sentiment ...:)

Dr. George Church — Brain healthspan extension (in 2013)

I've been finding this interpretation wondrous:
John Burgess
The Desperate Battle of the Birds

And I've also been finding the narrative of all the variations that Donald MacLeod shares to be opening a whole new way of understanding Piobaireachd expressively:

Miss Punny Pennie Sparkles @Lenniesaurus

Scots word of the day: OOSE

Meaning: fluff, lint

Example: dinnae touch that, there's oose aw ower it

Comes fae the plural ae "oo" meanin wool. Yous can hae the oose vs. stoor discourse is a hot debate, but mind an keep it clean. X
