Good morning, M,

How are you? How's your weekend going? Glad to have heard Julie Herndon and four other Stanford composers' pieces played last night by the Taks Ensemble (from NYC with a number of Oberlin grads) yesterday evening, to have met Julie's partner, John Iver, and to have talked a bit more with Julie and a number of the composers. Somewhat 'normal' creative evening among avant garde, post-hippie Stanford 'brights,' in avant garde (sometimes 'curious') northern California. Julie feels a bit like kin somehow, could be a UU woman (but isn't I think), is creative (very nice composition, and well played), is helpful, from the eastern seaboard ...

The online WUaS Music School could emerge in collaboration with some of these folks (and Stanford's CCRMA too) too even.

Good WUaS monthly business meeting yesterday.

Would like to grow a circle of kin somehow in very diverse Bay Area California (where sometimes its sexual vibes can weird me out) ... it's not obvious how to however ... individual and group questions I think ... and perhaps emerging into network society questions.

What are you up to today?

L,
Scott

Hi M,

I think I head from individual and group questions into network society questions re Castells - http://globetrotter.berkeley.edu/people/Castells/castells-con4.html ...

https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1094651256314855425 ... am a bit of a Castellian in general ...

Theoretically, heading here from individual/group questions to network society questions re Castells

Carl,

Yes, World Univ & Sch is continuing to develop, and is Quaker/Friendly-informed in part. This is perhaps due to writing and communications over 11-12 years, and a serpentine of a blog - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/global%20university - (Portland Oregon's Ursula K. LeGuin explored serpentine in her 1985 book "Always Coming Home" - https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/search/label/Ursula%20Le%20Guin), as well as WUaS Monthly Business Meeting, where both Larry and I are most regular (https://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2019/02/agenda-and-news-for-world-univ-sch-wuas.html and https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/02/african-bush-elephant-agenda-and-news.html). As Harvard GSE Prof Karen Brennan writes "Good reminder about creative work! (From John McPhee's Draft No. 4) #CreativeComputing" -

https://twitter.com/karen_brennan/status/1091455526423142400 - as way opens. The unfolding platform will seek to code for a kind of the simplicity you suggest, and some of what you suggest is here already (as you may know) - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - as we accredit, but Wikipedia in 300 languages and MIT OCW in 5 languages are building blocks that involve some complexity too.

And thanks for your email. Please let Friends know about these open teaching and learning opportunities and for example - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/Quakers_-_Religious_Society_of_Friends - where World Univ & Sch is seeking to wiki-add both very inspiring as well as highest quality Quaker resources (and in many languages and countries).

Getting the WUaS National Science Foundation award will facilitate what you suggest, and such editors (Stanford grad students?) are budgeted for. As you may know, as a former WUaS Board member - thank you for your contributions - WUaS has long had no monies.  If you know of grant writers who might be interested in fundraising, or if you might be interested in the 10% re World Univ & Sch's 'Letter of Agreement: Facilitation Resources to Board +'  - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1s_GBHW0gC1LPSbKNgwZz0_F2WVec_OgcWVK0WNtdkO0/edit?usp=sharing - please let one of us know.
