Hi Ants, Koh and Scot,

What are all of you up to for the 4th of July? Would you like to head to the Youth Hostel at Fort Mason again to see the fireworks at the far end of Fisherman's Wharf - over that Scottish ship, The Balclutha? Fireworks are nice above the water!

And how is Midori doing? Would she enjoy seeing fireworks and reveling in American Independence as well?

Happy 4th of July !

Cheers, Scott

*
Greetings all! Midori seems to be doing well (as far as can be discerned based on our observations and those of her paediatrician) and would most probably enjoy the festivities, having for instance reacted well to this year's Lunar New Year parade a few months ago and being generally curious and gregarious. May I ask roughly at what hour the celebrations might begin? Thanks - A.

*
Yay, All! It looks like they go from about 9:30 - 10 per ...

'The display starts when it gets dark. This is usually around 9:30pm. It lasts for about 30 minutes with a beautiful finale.'
https://www.sftourismtips.com/fourth-of-july-fireworks.html

We could meet in the lobby of the Youth Hostel around 7:30 or 8 and if the Y.H. cafe is open - which it could well be - get a bite to eat there .  I think we could find parking as well in the area.

What do you think? Aim for an 8pm rendezvous in the lobby of the Fort Mason Youth Hostel ...  240 Fort Mason, San Francisco, CA 94123 ... or earlier or later?

Cheers, Scott

*
Ok - do we know when the cafe' will be open? 8-ish would sound fine I'd say. All this is of course contingent on force majeure not intervening and wreaking havoc with our plans in Burnsian fashion ('the best laid plans o' mice and men gang aft agley' and such).

Marco .... Polo ... Marco .... does look like Cafe Franco in the Fisherman's Wharf Youth Hostel (Fort Mason) has good value food ... https://www.hiusa.org/hostels/california/san-francisco/cafe-franco ... Veggie Breakfast Sandwich $3.75 (VE)  ... Yumm - and at night? ... and it also looks like it's often open until 9:30 pm - https://www.yelp.com/biz/cafe-franco-san-francisco - except possibly today, when it may be closed (go figure:), in which case we could just hang out in the living room of the Youth Hostel, or meet there and then wander around outside ... Little Midori as force majeure - something to contend with! :) .... Let's hope the Boston Tea Party of political freedom celebration of major exploding bright lights, over the good ship Balclutha, (this being the Balclutha as you know in the background, by the way - https://www.facebook.com/bagpiper - opens a great way to American democracy further ... and now online?

It's name is "Beaver," whereas the other two revolutionary ships are / were the "Dartmouth" and the "Eleanor" - https://www.bostonteapartyship.com/boston-tea-party-facts ....

8 pm-ish in the lobby of the Youth Hostel - by the world map on the wall (with cell phones as back up!)

Happy 4th of July! :)

Cheers, Scott

Happy Independence Day -

A text conversation -

Just wrote the first 3 lines of my next science fiction novel ... :)

Scott -
Happy Independence Day, Catherine!
- http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2019/07/celestial-fireworks-what-are-all-of-you.html?m=0 - :)

Catherine -
You toooooooo

Scott -
Yay yay :)

Here's the revolutionary ship the Beaver sans tea :) https://twitter.com/scottmacleod/status/1146917478032764928 ... (replica) in Boston Harbor near those 'correct' days !

Catherine -
Love it! Boy, you have a lot of followers on Twitter! I deleted it from my phone months ago. It was too much of a time suck and kind of stressful for me when it came to political stuff.

Scott -
:)) Happy Independence Say (now where is my partner re ongoing people's democractic revolution?)

For me Twitter is an idea generator (something about Brevity being the soul of wit:)

Catherine -
Oh, yes, me too much of the time. It just felt like a little too much pressure to be witty!

S -
:) (am not very witty on twitty ... expansive idea rich, yes)

C -
Expansive is ALWAYS better💕

S -
:)

C -
How lovely is this! Happy Independence Day!

S -
Very ... a revolutionary ball gown! :)

C -
Read the text too. Wonderful story

S -
Very cool text!

4/28/19 to Sioux Davis, another Pittsburgher ... "Am in the Free Speech Movement Cafe at UC Berkeley now reading signs about the student movement in 1964 ... in these regards :) (free degree movement at World Uni ! :)"

C -
YEAH!!!

S -
Ah social change (& per US freedom day)

243rd Independence Day today since 1776 ... many many!

C -
Whew😀

S -
What if countries developed in a different way without US history & America's Constitution+? This is a science fiction history story in the making ... Bunch of countries with despots since 1789, and a French model of 5 Republics' democracy - to come into conversation with?

C -
That's an awfully big idea! Talk about expansive!😀

S -
You can be the co-ghost co-author :)

It was a dark and stormy night and America's revolutionary history had just been erased from people's minds in 1789, due to a realistic virtual earth's development in 2020 - think Google Street View with Time Slider - which allowed for time travel. ...

Avatar Bots, realistic ones, had been developed out of Stanford Medicine and the GooglePlex for ongoing developments of tele-robotic surgery - helping many with excellent remote surgery. These avatar bots corresponded with individuals, organisms - and the time slider functionality had grown well beyond any existing experimental surgeries (and at the atomic and cellular levels too).

Yay de day Dee dada :)

Happy July 4th Catherine!

Hush Hush Somebody's Calling My Name Gospel song just came to mind - https://youtu.be/uDqV64lH2X4 -  https://youtu.be/KiAXe-_Bcmw Do you know this song? It's nice :)

C -
I don't know that one, but my first cousin four times removed is famous 19th century hymn composer Will Thompson. His hymn "Softly and Tenderly" has appeared in a number of films and novels. My favorite version of it is sung Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Softly_and_Tenderly

https://youtu.be/5wN-kHHKAOY

S -
Love it (have heard versions of Hush by Fairfield Four I particularly like) ... and what happens next in our ghost co-authored revolutionary science fiction? :)

Catherine -
You'll never catch me riding science fiction. The only science-fiction I have ever enjoyed is Ray Bradbury stuff

Writing! Not riding

Off to bed XOXOX

Scott -
Nighty night XOXOX

https://twitter.com/WorldUnivAndSch/status/1147188788365410304 -

-  243rd 4th of July celebration yesterday, but can't re-visit this yet easily in a realistic virtual earth for history #RealisticVirtualEarthForHistory #RealisticVirtualEarth - am thinking Google Street View with time slider+, where News'  channels could be great source data for this
