Re: Aging Reversal &

Meditation (again here ...)

Dear Ma, Sandy

All,

Brainstorming-wise, I'm not suggesting in this blog post, from this thread -
http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2021/08/amur-leopard.html?m=0 - that wearing a FitBit watch in the future could be a gene adding information technology into our bodyminds that could lead to reversing aging (and also for diagnosis). And I'm also not suggesting that an endangered Amur leopard could wear such a watch and become as young as the leopard cub or kitten in the main pic behind title, - which would be wild indeed - but I am wondering whether, via such a device, we'd be able to DIY wiki-edit our own genomes in something like Wikitree single family tree database software ... https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/MacLeod-2524 ... Into what we wanted ... & even for all 7.8 billion people (re equality too!:) Would you want to be 30 yo again at 220 body age - and healthier than now?:)

What do you think?

Scott

PS
Amur leopard (Panthera pardus orientalis): Some possible news on the gene adding front (per George Church) too, and per potential aging reversal genetic drug therapies esp - Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) @MIT "Scientists harness human protein to deliver molecular medicines to cells: ..." * 19:19 minutes - why aging reversal relative to longevity - don't want to live with sickness * * This new FitBit 5 'fitness monitor watch' seems to be behavior measurement oriented on the wrist - George Church's video popped up at the end of this 30 seconds' Youtube film, and it makes me wonder how such a measuring device could be coded even for aging reversal behaviors - ie exercise or Yoga asana or pranayama (breathing) even - perhaps in conjunction with an emerging aging reversal genetic drug vaccine * * * What could 'SpO2 (blood oxygen)' levels refer to in this new FitBit5 video, and even whether this has a history with what Herbert Benson MD was measuring when seeking to study meditation scientifically in around 1970, '71, '72 as the lowered oxygen levels in the body associated with the relaxation RESPONSE, aka his finding for meditation -

bagpiping & meditation
Thursday, Aug 26, 2021

Hi Ed, Ma,

Nice to be in touch recently! Just gave a Scottish small pipes' lesson ... It's good musical work ... I wanna bring more meditation into it (which Stuart and I have also talked about a bit a number of times) ... Eg Stuart Liddell's inner stillness and remarkable drones when he plays ... Entering into a kind of 'oneness with piping's playing space ... Much to teach and learn (drawing on Yoga too :) in these regards :)

...

How are you doing? How are your projects going?

Warmly, Scott

Is extraordinary piper Stuart Liddell a meditator's piper, or a piper's meditator? He's so very still inside when he plays ...

You'll find Stuart Liddell's teaching of The Cameronian Rant - with SINGING - here (but I haven't added the time markers to this post yet)

Know of any pipers who might be interested? Desiderata poem re Psychiatry

Read from a psychology academic discipline perspective - (which was George's in some ways) - and even from a psychiatric perspective ... ? What is psychiatry's goal?

"... the relief of mental suffering associated with disorder and improvement of mental well-being."

Hi Ma,

Really Nice to talk to you! Glad to hear of your garden party tour tomorrow afternoon - and your near daily walk with Jean!

I pipe too nearly every evening - about 9:50pm ... Enjoyably but seeking to develop further charting of goals on playing per - http://scottmacleod.com/GuidelinesPracticingMusicalInstrument.htm - so may begin earlier to play.

I've begun a journal for this even in GDocs - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1b_cjum5LP-4mn89bAMhIPcf6RMQgE91bUkfmdNIvnFY/edit?usp=sharing (which you won't be able to view, unless you request permission) ... and here's the gist of it -

Scott’s Piping Journal

Charting goals

August 2021

F Aug 27 2021

Memorize Corienessan’s Salute Piobaireachd

Played it through once with Andrew Bonar’s playing reading the sheet music,

Then closed my eyes some of the time to play it through a second time

Working on note duration

Memorize Cameronian Rant

Played it thru once watch part reading the music

Then twice each part with eyes’ shut

improved

Regarding the Desiderata further -
Am thinking about
READING or INTERPRETING it from a PSYCHOLOGY academic discipline perspective - (which was George's field in some ways) - and even from a psychiatric perspective ... What is psychiatry's goal?

"... the relief of mental suffering associated with disorder and improvement of mental well-being."
https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/psychiatry.htm

I think the Desiderata addresses this to some degree ... Is it psychology academically then? Maybe not ... philosophy? ... Maybe not ... writing and thinking and almost poetry - perhaps ...

I recall George talking about the idea of someone suffering saying philosophically and clinically 'she or he is suffering' ... And as a conscious problem solver ... George thought in interesting ways to help people not suffer. Did George suffer mentally ? Perhaps I'd hypothesize - since he went into psychiatry, for example.

So the Desiderata may be psychology, and which poem I learned from George ... just some further thoughts :)

Love, Scott
