I'm doing fine. A few warm days here in Maine after lots of rain. Our son Kenneth got married 2 weeks ago to Chiara Marin in Italy. It was a wonderful event. They just moved from Oxford back to Edinburgh, where they met.

The merge suggestion is interesting. Based on DNA results, we are in fact descendants of Torquil Og MacLeod, b.c. 1320, who was a grandson of Leod and the 1st chief of the MacLeods of Lewis. Raasay MacLeod descend from Lewis MacLeods.

I'm off to the MacLeod Clan Parliament on the Isle of Skye in 2 weeks where I will give a talk on the DNA of Clan MacLeod!

I see you're moving back to California!

BTW, we are planning a MacLeod family reunion at the lake here in Maine on Aug 3, 2024.

Congratulations to Kenneth (your middle name namesake, and mine too) and Chiara ... Edinburgh sounds like a beautiful and great place to live - and where they met. (I've lived 2 full years in Edinburgh, at Fettes College for a high school year, and at the Univ of Edinburgh in the School of Celtic and Scottish Studies) Glad you're doing well! 

Interesting Torquil MacLeod (abt.1295-abt.1380) and (abt.1240-) WikiTree merge proposal ... I'm against it (as a voting democrat) ... but that's not part of this WikiTree's well coded wiki process...  (It just occurs to me that going back to these centuries with these Torquil MacLeods in WikiTree ... that I might newly be able to follow my ancestor's Chadbourne line back from Sarah Bolles to Edward I ... Don't think I've ever been to one, but was a member of a Clan MacLeod association particularly in my teens for a couple of years ... Around age 12 I even wrote to Dame Flora MacLeod of MacLeod in Dunvegan on the Isle of Skye asking how to begin to play the bagpipes, from New Haven, Connecticut - and she wrote back :), suggesting contacting Seamus MacNeill in Glasgow who started the College of Piping, and was an author of the College of Piping's Green Tutor Vol. 1, which I used to begin piping with (... and 2 piping albums later - in 2020 and 2022 ... on the Scottish small pipes ... both accessible here - http://scottmacleod.com/piping.htm - (for free)) ...

Where does Jeremy O'Brien fit in MacLeod family tree and history (with Edward Longshanks and Benjamin Lincoln)? 


Greetings, master genetic genealogist Mark (MacLeod -1st cousin), Hugh (Thomas - friend from high school years, and Professor of Medieval History at the Univ of Miami), All, 

Following up on MacLeod, Chadbourne, Lincoln, Kirkbride, Gilbert family genealogy questions - and potentially with Wikitree .com (but also with Ancestry .com ), - and some 'visible' historical ancestors - besides possibly A) Edward I ('hammer of the Scots' I've read, and the English Justinian, and possibly author of the Magna Carta), B) Benjamin Lincoln (who accepted the sword of surrender from the British in the American Revolution in 1781) ...  

Where does Jeremy O'Brien fit in family tree and history?

I recall my Granny Brown, I think, my mother's mother, telling us about an ancestor, Jeremy O'Brien, who is reputed to have fired the first naval shot of the American revolutionary war while jumping off a ship (an hopping time - the American Revolution :), possibly on my grandfather Sandy Brown's genetic side of the family ... https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Brown-92991  (but am not sure) ... and again so where does Jeremy O'Brien fit into our family tree from - https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/MacLeod-2524?  And how to begin to play on genealogy software platforms with 'who came before' to get to Jeremy O'Brien (sp?) ... Let's try this again! 

COVID is mostly behind us and folks are traveling again so it seems time to revisit the MacLeod Family Reunion concept in Maine. Our last last reunion was hosted by Mary Kennedy in 2004!

We are pleased to host the next gathering of the MacLeod clan at our summer camp on Bonny Eagle Lake in Buxton, Maine. We envision activities over the weekend starting on Friday Aug 2 through Sunday August 4 with the ‘main event’ on Saturday August 3, 2024. The camp is about 40 minutes/20 miles west of Portland.

Our first request for help is to ask you extend this invitation to members of your family.

We've set up a private Facebook group for the reunion and may use this as an information sharing site for photos and family documents. We also hope to update the family tree from 20 years ago with changes, new arrivals and additions.

Mark, as a master (MacLeod esp.) genetic genealogist, do you see anything on the horizon for needing 'fresh' genetic samples for genealogy research (eg after sending in my saliva to Ancestry .com several years ago, I was then able to add these results to my WikiTree profile, but this isn't "FRESH GENETIC MATERIAL" ... and perhaps this fast moving genetic genealogy field will find new research potential with fresh genetic material). Hi Mark, MacLeod Family members, 


Greetings. 

I've just removed the' MacLeod Family Reunion members' you shared from the Monday WUaS News and Q&A email earlier - after including them today. Thanks. As you may have seen, there's an unsubscribe invitation at the bottom of all of these WUaS emails, and many of these family members have been on the WUaS emailings for years, and I've unsubscribed the 1 or 2 who have asked to unsubscribe from the WUaS emailings in the past. 

I'm amazed at how many people, and family members, are interested in free MIT OCW-centric online WUaS degrees and free open wiki schools, and related idea sharing - and seek to learn more about WUaS.

I'm also appreciative of the connection that comes in idea sharing - such as regarding the recent two emails I've sent about your MacLeod genetic genealogy research +, in response to your email invitation.

I'm glad there's an unsubscribe option at the bottom of all these WUaS emails regarding individuals' agency, and at the bottom of the two responses I sent regarding your invitation.

Your invitation first for seemingly this year, and then strangely for 2024 leads me to wonder if you and some of the MacLeod Family members you emailed,  could be involved in organized crime internationally, and regarding the illegal sex and drug and violence industries - and not only at your Bonny Eagle Lake camp in Maine in its 3 houses, but also possibly internationally and regarding you being still the Atlantic Managing Director at Chevron per your LinkedIn now for 41 years or so.

I think I lost my father due to organized crime internationally due to the first subdural hematoma  he received on univ pitt managed semester at sea at the time in Belize on December 30, 2004 (which I think killed him after 2.75 years) - and wonder what role my brother Sandy even is playing in organized crime in Maine and Massachusetts etc and with regard to our father's death too ... so I won't be coming to your MacLeod Family Reunion in Maine in August 2024 afterall - in Friendly Quaker (like your father Bruce) conscientious objection protest. 

I and WUAS continue to call for at least 4 regimes of law - US state,  US federal (and the other 200 countries' federal and state law too), uniformed services and international law to begin to work effectively together to protect people - women, KIDS, victims, others - from the wrongful buying and selling of people as modern slavery - and in MIT OCW- centric wiki World Univ & Sch planning to code for all 7.9 billion people on the planet, each a Wikidata PIN # here - https://wiki.worlduniversityandschool.org/wiki/You_at_World_University.
