Hi P and B,

Nice to see you both yesterday evening at SCD.

How to move from OpenBand for Scottish Country Dancers to something like this for Scottish Country Dancers ... https://youtu.be/vkfiQxh6Xig and re these South African SCDers? Perhaps we'd have to innovate Berkeley-wise and re these South African youth -

Just voted by mail in Contra Costa County ... a pretty straight democratic ticket ...
Used some of these resources when in doubt, plus other online resources ... but had to search out some other web pages too ..

Friend Jenny Selgrath, a Stanford lecturer/Post Doc at Hopkins Marine Center posted this: a haiku #voting guide #VotingMatters -

https://twitter.com/JennySelgrath/status/1056748955118198784 ...: :)

Sent in my ballot via USPO and didn't drop it off at the Moraga Town Hall after all. Vote early and often - legally - i.e. other people may read the votes you make early, if entered early, and this could influence their voting :)

Do you both vote early by mail etc, since internet voting doesn't happen yet, and it will be fascinating to see how voting online may affect the decisions we make as a society as voters in new ways ... and potentially in all ~200 countries' official languages?

HI M,

I'm a great appreciator of when we talk. Thank you my good mother. And I just voted last night as you probably saw from my email 10 hours ago.

And yet another sofa bed IDEA  ...

Being able to easily move it into my bed room makes sense / has appeal as well ... wheels or lightweight, or even no frame also may make sense for my small modular house-let.

Charm/beauty has ongoing appeal too. But because of portability, am heading back to a single 3 fold mattress that's also a mini-sofa, and I could eventually get two. I might even sleep out on my deck with this :)

The simplicity here could be a bit of a Quaker thinking too. Washability is good for allergen avoidance, and I could find a beautiful washable cover too. :)

And I may seek to teach YOGA again in my front room in small classes, in which case having all the floor space accessible is great (except for the tall bookcase; another horizontal big book case of mine is on wheels and rolls through my bedroom door, and I can carry my table too through the door too). (Yoga is a good thing ... and newly re - http://www.scottmacleod.com/yoganotations.html!)

...

I may also start to explore making delicious hearty soups soon, as a staple - for health, eating many natural foods, flavor, warmth from the stove, creativity and value +++  ... :)

Have an ongoing focus on goodness re ethics' here (and, for me, I think in terms of Quaker peace testimony a bit, and which I can translate into non-violence or ahimsa thinking). I'm also seeking to generate care and love in life ... and I wonder whether ... but also to generate care and love in life re World Univ & Sch even ... part of 'a good life' - see my own thoughts about 'a good life' at bottom here ... https://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/2018/10/chrysanthemum-morifolium-stanford-talk.html ...

What is a good life for you, M?

Really nice to talk, and I'll keep you posted about the public library MP3 audio books files to smart phone discoveries I make (where, if interested, you could probably just ask at your public library, and hand them your smartphone to show you the first time, if you might be interested:). Am seeking here to begin to listen to audio books on my smartphone on my trips to Stanford. :)

Hoping Sioux's email yesterday opens a way to connecting further with  ... And ongoing thinking about what a great queen size sofa bed would be for under the window ... and then trying to design it / find it ... thanks to you! Interesting to go to those 'virtual spaces' of the life of the mind ... whether this be through reading, creating virtually on the web, or envisioning a great sofa bed.

What are you up to this week? Stay warm (If I teach a course at Stanford with Lego Robotics, may seek to model how repairing the leak in your basement might be fixed with this, as one practical challenge :).

L, Scott
